Painful movement / low level amniotic fluid?

    Hi All,

Am a bit concerned, over the last week bubs movement has become very painful, so much so that i'm having to stop what i'm doing and hold my breath/fists clenched at times.

I am only just 30weeks and don't remember DS causing me this much pain even when he was OD (he was 8lb 11oz). I am starting to think that it might be related to low levels of amniotic fluid. This became an issue with DS right at the end of my pregnancy and I was having US every 2nd day to monitor, up until i was induced.

I have googled symptoms of low amniotic fluid however it doesn't list painful movement, but what else could it be?? To make things worse my OB is on holidays, I have booked in to see my GP this arvo but don't know what he will be able to do?

Any advice/info is much appreciated. Thanks

    Hi Jaffaz,

Im sure everything is ok, but if you are really worried then you can go to the hospital where they can give you a scan. Because this was a problem with your last pregnancy, maybe you are more anxious that it will happen again.

Being your second pregnancy your muscles are much more relaxed and bubs movements can be more painful/felt more.

    Good luck,

I had low amniotic fluid with DS1, and I was concerned that it would be the same this time around - but my levels are pretty normal (just over 7 atm). So, I don't think it's necessarily that.
And, oddly enough this little bub is giving me some excruiatingly painful movements too! I said to DH the other day that thank goodness I wasn't driving or anything - because i'd literally have to stop everything and grimace in pain.
I can't explain why it is this way for me - but I guess I thought you should know that you aren't alone.
If you are concerned, I would, without hesitation, call the hossy. Explain how you feel. They might ask you to come in, or just help you over the phone. It's not worth sitting home stressing - you might find a reassuring answer on the end of the phone.
    Take care,
