possible inability to breastfeed 2nd time round?

A couple of ladies from my belly buddies thread are saying they're starting to leak colostrum.

I'm aware each pregnancy is different, but when I was pregnant with DS I started leaking at 27 weeks. Here at 32 weeks, I've had no leaking and I swear that my boobs are just the same size as they were before being pregnant (even though I know they grew this pregnancy, I think they've shrunk).

I'm worried about my ability to breastfeed this time round. With DS milk came in pretty much within a day.

Has anyone heard of / experienced being able to breastfeed their first, but not their second? This is quite a big fear of mine right now.

I dont know any stories anectdotally, but I would try not to worry too much Your body produces the milk making hormones at their highest AFTER you have the baby, all those hormones are good for something!
As you said every pregnancy is different, I think your boobies are probably well adjusted after going through all this before, they know what to do now.
Try to to wrry too much about it, I think that stress can be more detrimental than anything. Good luck xx (not that you'll need it!)

Your pg BB sound like mine were. I never had any leaking & they shrank a little during later part of my pg. But all was well after birth & supply has luckily never been a prob for me. As you say each pg can be quite different so I wouldn't be concerned.

Hi there - I have only had one child, but my BBs never leaked during pregnancy, and I am still breast feeding DD at 21 months!

I don't think that it will have an impact on your ability to BF.

I have only ever leaked inone of my pregnancy. With each baby it has taken at least 5-6days for my milk to actually come in. I have gone on to have no issues with supply whatsoever.

I highly doubt you will have a problem - you body has already shown you that it is capable.

I dont have a great deal of experience, still BFing bubba 1 but I do know that my boobs NEVER leaked the entire time I was pregnant and I couldnt even squueze, no matter how hard I tried even a droplet of colostrum out.....now I pretty well belong in a dairy, serious over supply of milk and it just keeps producing! Your body knows what its doing hun, dont stress too much

I had colostrum from 18 weeks with my first bub, but second time around i had nothing! I have had no problems this time round with feeding, so i decided that my BB's are just really good at holding it in until its required, the first time round they didn't know what they were supposed to do
