    Question protein in urine?

Ok well I had my ob appotinment today and things were going fine til I had my BP checked. Normally it's 100/70 but today it was 150/110, so I did a urine test which showed protein. I ended up having to have blood tests and my urine was sent off to testing and was sent to the birthing suite to be monitored for a few hours. By the time I left the birthing suite my blood pressure had dropped to 130/75 which is great and my bloods came back fine except for one (not sure which one) but the ob said i wasn't enough to do anything and basically I will have the proper urine resuls back tomorrow. I'm just so confused, they explained that this test will show exactly how much protein so if it's only a little bit would I need to be induced? I just don't really understand it at all! Sorry for the ramble, I hope I made sense!

Hi Renee, It looks like your OB is looking for signs of PE. I don't think they will induce you if you only have a small amount of protien in your urine.
They could call you back in for extra monitoring just to make sure you BP doesn't go up again and your bloods change.
Sometimes you can just have some protien in your urine. I did through out my pregnancy with Eleanor.
I hope your test results come back ok.

    Hi Renee
A small amount of portien in your urine is not unusual and providing thet it does not increase there is no need to induce you

The BP is probably more of a worry when in combination with the protein - My bp went up to over 135/90 in my final week with DD when it had been around 100/75 - the doc sent me to hospital for bedrest and monitoring and when it didn't go down but up over 3 days they ended up putting me on meds and inducing me early - but it was more to do with the BP than the protein. I also had a fair amount of swelling in my feet, ankles and legs and was fairly overweight at 100kg. Do you have much fluid retention or swelling? I believe that can be another sign of PE.

Hope everything goes well for you and that you don't have to worry about possible induction.

Thanks for that everyone Ended up back in there today because I have had headached that wont go away, my blood pressure was fine 138/75 or something and urine resuls came back still with protein so they are sending them off yet again. They aren't too worried because BP is remaining low, so just need to go back monday for more bloods and BP check and what not to see how things are. So I'm pretty happy with that
