    question about the show????

    hi there,

so for a few weeks i was having some blobs of yellowy jelly discharge maybe once a day,

then about 4 days ago it sorta increased to about twice a day,

then this morning i was having some cramps and i went to the toilet and i had it again but this time it was quite a bit, i was wiping myself for aboout 5 minutes or so and i thought it had finished so i jumped into the shower and i got another cramp and i felt down there and pulled out a another big blob of yellowish jelly stuff and it also had dots of white in it to.

i have only been having like twinges of pains all morning nothing to serious to make me think im in labour, but when i spoke with my mum, she said she had the same thing with my eldest brother (her first) and it was her show, plus she didnt have any blood in it.

that and i also called a midwife and she said that it was nothing and it should have blood in it and not to worry (But hello she didnt see how much there was, it was not like you could miss it)

What do you guys think it was, i need all the opinion i can get?

my show happened for 2 weeks prior to birth - loss everyday and yes it was red or pink streaked mucous. Ive described it like this before lol so here you go. It looked like raspberry squirl chocolate Yogo! lol

But like i said 2 weeks! before dd was born.

As for white-yellow mucous. I have been having huge blobs of it for weeks. Need to change my underwear at least twice a day or wear liners. TMI i know! but you asked!

Also have you had sex lately as sperm can continue to be expelled for a day or 2 after as well.

nope we havnt had any sex for about 2 weeks now, i quess i just have to wait and see what happens,

its just odd cos i have lost so much and the midwife seems to think its nothing, but then again do they really care about whats going on untill your actually in labour.

Nah they dont really care until you are in labour. Even when labour starts they will tell you to saty home until it is more frequent (given you rh20 hasnt broken).
Just know you body is getting ready. I wouldnt worry about mucous. If you have a lot of fluid loss then call them.

mmm maybe you are close. have you been having BH? do you know what they feel like?
Does the pain come from the back to front?
Time the pains (length of and time between) and if they get longer with shorter intervals and increase in pain as the days goes on then give your mw a call!

I had lots of mucous too at the end of my pg and I was wearing pads because it was sooo gross and wet. My 'show' came in the form of a big blood stained blob followed by some bleeding. Labour started within a couple of hours after that. Id say your body is getting ready and things are moving and shaking to help make way for your little bundle.

But do keep in regular contact with your MW and do time the pains like PinkPalace has recommended. Write it down too, as you may forget when the MW asks particluar questions on the phone.

I was told to "come in" to the hossy until my contractions were about 5 or 4 mins apart. It was my first labour too, and it made me nervous being at home, but it was better being in my own environment. Now looking back, I should have stayed home a bit longer!

    Good luck!

bellybelly has an article about the "show" as do many other websites and it can be clear (or pink, brown, blood-stained). i lost some of my mucous plug over a few days and its all been clear so far. mind you that was last week and its my due date today and nothings happened yet!! fingers crossed not much longer...
