    Reduction in baby's movements

The last couple of days the baby has slowed down a lot in its movements. It still moves around - just not as frequently or as hard as it used to. I know that its running out of room there so that would be restriciting it but what is a normal reduction in movements?

I think I should just call my midwife. Just in case do you think???

(am a bit of a paranoid worried first time mum!!!)

    Hi Percy,
You should have at least 10 movements a day. Have an icy cold drink sit down on the couch and really concentrate on feeling your baby. If you don't get movements it is worth giving your midwife a call just to be sure and reassure yourself.

It is normal for the movements to change from strong quick movements to move rolling movements as they begin to run out of room.

Percy, I know its hard not to worry, but it is perfectly normal for big full on kicking type movement to reduce because bubs IS running out of room. You should however be feeling regular enough movements. You can always do a 'kick chart' noting down how many movements you have. This is often reassuring because you're recording the movements and can 'see' what's going on.

IF you have any concerns, DO contact your midwife.

I'm sure everything is ok, all the same.

Percy, like the others said, perfectly normal. I had to do a 'kick chart' at 38 weeks as bub hadn't moved around at all for 48 hours. 2 days later I had her! Just monitor the movements you do get and if worried call your dr or midwife.

Percy - My baby has slowed down too... I can feel more squirming and stretching type movements than kicks and punches. My Ob said to me the other day that as long as I am getting the 10 movements in 12 hrs, there is nothing to worry about... the baby is sleeping more now and has definitely run out of room.
