Question Should i get it checked out???

Just wondering if i should call my OB or the midwives or if this is normal....

Lost my mucous plug (i think) about 1.5 weeks ago. Had my OB appoint on Tuesday and he said my cervix is shortened and he thinks i will go early so have to go back again next week instead of 2 weeks.

From yesterday i have noticed when i lie down or sometimes whilst sitting, i am leaking. There is a smell but its not urine but i haven't smelt it before (sorry TMI). Do you think it could be my waters or have i started to loose control of my bladder???

I don't want to call and make a fuss if its nothing. I start birthing classes tonight so not sure if i should just wait till then and ask someone if its still happening.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

    Hey Misty,

I truly think it could be your waters leaking, give them a ring and reassure yourself.

I would pop a pad on too, as they may ask how much your leaking and it will give you an indication....plus may lessen the washing.

It really is becoming an exciting week for you. Maybe you'll have your little girl by this time next week...you never know!

I would def get it checked out... like maddysmummy said "Better to be safe"!

It does sound a lot like your waters... good luck and let us know how you go!

You can buy "amnio Pads" they detect the presence of amniotic fluid loss.
If you are really concerned got to doctor or hospital.
Good luck with your little girl.

Pop on a pad, does it smell kinda like sweet semen?
Once youve smelt amniotic liquid, YOU WILL NEVER FORGET that smell ever again!!!

MInd you if your not having contractions they'll likely tell you to stay at home (I was at home for 2 days when mine broke with DD#1) they never scared me with infections but did say dont soak in a bath etc unless it's our own & REALLY clean, but best to avoid!
I'd say walk it will get things happening hopefully!!!

Imo, I'd call. I'm a worrywart and call at the first sign of anything! call them and if they say its normal, thats fine, just bring it up at the classes. They're run by midwives anyway and they'd give a 2nd opinion.

I leak cm but i guess thats normal. it kinda smells like a cross between semen and vinegar (how odd!) I wear a liner... but it seems that it manages to miss the liner and still end up on my knickers... how embarrasing!

OK just a little update on this thread. I have it on good knowledge from Misty that her baby girl was born early Friday morning. Will leave the rest of details to her when she signs back in here. Both mum n bub doing well though.

    Cheers Jacqui
