Hi Ameeta,

Yes, the show is quite unmistakable once you see it (I think) but for a lot of women it won't come out till you're actually in labour so many don't get to see it at all. WARNING TMI! Mine did come out blood stained, firstly with old blood so it looked brown but the second lot with lots of fresh, bright red blood which was quite scary, but both are quite normal.

I'm booked into the Mater private, I haven't heard anything good or bad about the new hospital but the old one was supposed to be quite good. It seems I'll be there sooner than expected.

Just as an update I think the receptionist didn't pass my message on to my OB so I'm going to try and get in touch with him again today. I'm not due to see him for another week but I'd really like him to know what's going on, and hey, there's a chance I won't last another week

Ameeta.. the mater private is pretty good , never been there but i got to lots of hospitals' maternity wards through work and the mmp is so nice , i have also been in the public section .. i didnt have the nicest things to say about it and neither would my cousin who went through her whole labour in the waiting room and only got a bed before she needed to push !! they were and usually are pretty busy and have a high turnover of mums to deal with .. i really hope you have a good experience ..

my opinion is just one of many so dont pay too much attn to it and if you have a show , you will know about it ... mine was thick and blood streaked and it was about the size of a plum .. it happend about 24 hrs before i went into labour .( 9 days over)

some ppl also have the moucs plug come away before labour when the cervix starts is job .. but in my case it was just thickend and more of it ( mucous ) .... but others argue the mucous plug/show are the same thing ..

what ever ... you'll know when you see it ..

I too have heard horrific stories about the Mater public. Thanks its a relief that the Private is good.

Hi ladies,

I lost my show when I was 31 weeks. I'm now 39 weeks and bubs is still hanging in there. So all these things you hear about going into labour within a week or 2 after losing your plug is not entirely correct.
