Just wondering those who have had a slow leak of amniotic fluid when did your labour start? I started leaking a tiny amount yesterday morning more then 24hrs ago now and my Ob did a scan, speculum to see if there was any fluid, followed by a VE at lunch yesterday. I can't have an amnisure now to see if its positive for ruptured membranes as I've had a VE less then 24hrs ago. The Obs verdict was my membranes were intact at lunch yesterday. Anyway this morning things have really ramped up. The leaking is alot more now and whats on the pad is very convincing of amniotic fluid. The amount is increasing, its now turned pink, thinner and mucousy (my nose is blocked so the only thing missing is the smell but don't want to ask DH what it smells like lol)
I'm not about to rock up to the hospital as I'm not ready and for privacy reasons as I work there. Bubs moving and I'm GBS negative. So I'm madly trying to get ready. I'm having niggly pains but nothing to think its even early labour. Obviously I wont leave it for days or even many more hours before geting checked again but just wondering if this has happened to anyone else and what eventuated? I think the fluid is a little too much to reseal and with my second bub my Ob thought my waters broke long before I came to hospital which led to DD having a poor CTG trace, augmentation and temp after birth and me getting an infection (hence why I don't want to leave it to long) I also have a known pelvic infection so my risk is probably higher then the general population of brewing an infection.
I'm reluctant to go up at the moment and really would prefer to do it in my own time over been sped along IYKWIM.
My first labour I had a slow leak. I pretty much started first stage of labour then also. That being said my first stage was very long and in hindsight I would have waited longer to go to the hospital. But being my frist baby I had no idea. Maybe wait til lunchtime and then give the midwives a call and see what they think. Your contractions may have become a bit more regular by then.
I've called the hossy now and there expecting me today. Leaking is still going. Its getting more and more blood stained so I'm convinced thats what it is. I'm having the odd niggle but nothing worth tracking or even mentioning.
I had a slow leak too. I was lucky because my OB agreed to give me 4 days to go into labour naturally, but I was put on strong AB's JIC, had to check my temp every 3 hours and go in for monitoring each day just to make sure all was ok. If I was you, I would call the hossy and go in as soon as you can... Don't stress, you don't have to be induced right away, then can give you more time, but just need to take precautions to make sure you don't get an infection and if you do that it's picked up quick smart.
Unfortunately for me I never progressed to labour, but there were a lot of other things at play which probably account for that, so was induced 4 days later. Give yourself time hun, by the sounds of things it's already ramping up. GL
