    Slowly loosing my mind

    Hi,

I know that this will sound like whining, but I need to talk to someone. Today I am 6 days over (according to an early ultrasound) and I don't know if I can handle being pregnant one more day. I was sure that bub would be early as I lost my mucus plug over 2 weeks ago and have had many bouts of "false starts". I am not one of those women who loves being pregnant at the best of times, but the last few days have got me down. Bub is fully engaged and this makes walking difficult and by the end of the day I am so sore that I have trouble putting the other two little ones to bed.

I know that there is nothing that I can do, but does anyone have advice... This labour will be my second VBAC and because of my previous c/s I can't be induced so I am scheduled for a c/s on Wednesday if nothing has happened. Would really rather avoid that.

Does anyone know of any natural induction methods that I can try?

Sorry about the whinge, I am very emotional today and knew you guys would understand. Thanks.

You poor thing. I don't know if this will help, but I know a couple of people who swear that accupuncture bought on their labours... might be worth a try?

Good luck, and I hope it happens for you before Wednesday!

Oh it gets so hard at the end, doesn't it! I remember.
There is an article here on BB, I'm pretty sure, about natural methods of "encouraging" labour. (DTD and go for a walk!)
You could also speak to your local naturopath/health food store about herbs that can nudge you in that direction.
All the best for a successful VBAC!

Oh I know what it must be like! ... I was 10 days over due with my first two and was just so over it! My first pregnancy found me waiting and waiting during one of Melbourne's worst heat waves too and we were in a tiny unit with no air-con! My doctor said if I didn't go into labour by myself by a certain day then I would be induced. So DH and I went out for a nice meal (a curry!) the night before I had to go in... and after the meal... at about 9.30pm I went into natural labour! Phew!

Check out the BB links... there's some great advice there. I wish I had BB back in 1994 when I was overdue! it would have been a wonderful consolation!

Let us know how you go... it's not a whinge LOL many of us understand darl.

its so frustrating & awful, you spend the whole pregnancy preparing for a VBAC & then you hit the end, go overdue & have the pressure for a c/s on you.

For my first child I went 17 days post EDD and was induced resulting in c/s. My second child was 12 days post EDD and it was awful... everyday over was a whole series of emotions. I would be excited, stressed, scared.... it felt scary. I wasn't worried about going overdue. I didn't care about dates, but the hospital did. And they put pressure on em. Sounds like you are in a similar situation... why the c/s??

I had acupuncture which tried to kick start labour a few times, but massage worked wonders for me. Seriously, get a massage ASAP. The best thing is for your body to relax for starting labour. So get a daily massage until labour. The $$ is worth avoiding a c/s.

:hugs: feel free to PM me just to talk.

My Ob told me that only thing that will really help is sex and as much as possible. Semen has the same hormone in it as the gel they use to induce. It didnt work for me though but it might help you.

    Thanks guys.

My c/s was after a long labour (24 hours). DS was presenting posterior and face first and after nearly 4 hours of pushing he (and I) were going into distress. C/S was the best thing even though I hated it. I, however delivered my DD naturally after only 5 1/2 hours and loved it. I desprately want that again and I KNOW that I can do it.

Thanks for all the advice (keep it coming). Might try and talk hubby into some "special time" tonight and will definately book in for a massage tomorrow. Keep your fingers crossed!!!

    The wait is over

    Hi,

Thanks for all your advice ladies. Just thought I would let you know that I delivered a healthy baby girl on Sunday morning. It was a beautiful, peaceful experience. I got the VBAC I so badly wanted!

Hope that this is encouragement to others waiting - it does end.
