    Sterilising everything

Okay I have my bags packed and ready to go but....I want to pack a dummy into bub's bag but haven't sterilised it as yet.

When do you all think I should do this?? I haven't got a clue.

I think things only stay sterile for a short time once opened. Are the new ones already sterile? If so then just pack an unopened one for first as anything you sterilise now might need redoing if you dont use it for a while...

Do you dummies have covers on them (like the Avent and Heinz Baby Basics)?

Sometimes if so...you could sterilise them and them put them inside a container...that way they are not exposed to air?

I never took dummies with me cos i was determined not to use them until i got home if needed.

Maybe you could sterilise it now and then if you need it in hospital you could just get a cup of boiling hot water and stick it in that for a few mins?!?

you could sterilise it now, however I would simply wait to sterilise it when and if you need it. the hospital should have a microwave to sterilise it in or some 'milton' or some such which you would be able to use if you wanted.

i sterilised mine b4 i went to hospital and then when i went to use it (i'd kept it in an airtight container) i just sat it in some boiled water for a few minutes to make sure it was still sterile.

i'm sure the hospital would have something there to sterilize it with.. I wouldn't worry too much about it

I packed a dummy still in it's wrapping because you can always get the staff at the hospital to give you a little tub of milton to sterilize it if you need it.
