    Strained muscle in groin area?

For the last couple of weeks I feel like I have a pulled muscle - in my groin area . It hurts at the front, where the public hair is, and is now starting to move further into the groin area, and even between the legs . Everytime I roll over in bed it hurts, evertime I get out of bed, it hurts. It really is embarrising .

Has anyone had this, or know what could be causing it or how I can 'fix' it (other than having a baby that is). I haven't been doing any stressful workouts (just gentle walking), and the muscles don't seem to be getting any better.

Pink - I was told that if it hurts when you push down on your pubic hair with your hand, then it could be that SPD thing and its a good idea if you get it checked out with a physio or something.

I have a sore groin muscle, have for ages in this pregnancy, but it doesn't bother me if I press down on my pubic bone, so I'm thinking its just the groin muscle itself that is acting up. Mine hurts when I try to lift my leg up (ie to get over a pillow) in bed, and I have to be pretty gentle with myself when I try to roll over!!!! I just get by with a lot of slow movements and a bit of grunting.. pmsl!!

    Hi Pink
It is not a pulled muscle it is your pubic bone. Your pubic bone has a joint in the middle of it which normally does not move. However one of the pregnancy hormones (relaxin) causes all your joints to loosen and thus making it easier to give birth. Unfortunately for many women this hormone also causes the joint in the pubic bone to become loose. When this happens the ends of this bone can rub against each other causing pain whenever you move. To help to relieve the pain keep your knees together when turning over in bed or when getting into and out of a car. When walking do not take long strides. Panadol can also help. You could also visit a physio who may suggest a belt/brace for your pelvis.

I have the same symptoms and was told by my doc that it could be SPD... Rolling over in bed is the worst. I was asked to go for physiotherapy but declied to do so since my pain isnt all that bad. My doc said it wouldnt affect my delivery. but i've heard that for severe pain physio is good.
