    swollen feet and hands

    Hi Ladies,

Just wondering if anyone is suffering from swollen feet and hands quite often. Even if im only on my feet for a short while they seem to swell up. I've been told my blood pressure is ok during the last few visits, except for the 2nd last one i had it was a bit low. I guess i should just keep putting my feet up?? any suggestions?

mum2be2010 - I am the same at the moment, I had my right foot bruise alot and swell like a balloon. I wasn't to worried as I get fluid in my legs on and off before I was even pregnant so didn't really think anything of it until a few friends and my mother seen it and said it seemed strange it was only one foot that was swollen bad and I could barely walk so was convinced to go to hospital so my partner to me to emergency when we were finally released at 2.30am they just put it down to the pregnancy.

My GP was still concerned as 2 weeks before my mother was in hospital with blood clots to the lungs so with it being in the family and because of my heart there was a slight chance it could have been clots so heaps of running around getting ultrasounds of my legs to make sure it was all clear.

Also had another check with my GP yesterday and now my blood pressure is up and possibly why I have had my headache for the past week. Everything with the baby is fine and he is extremely active. Although on and off for about an hour after I got home yesterday I started getting period-pain like cramps and a very racing heart.

Hope you are resting up and looking after yourself.

My feet were really bad in my last trimester - really swollen to the point that the only thing I could wear were my Fitflops - and even they were really tight (previously having been too loose).

Just make sure you're drinking plenty of water and putting your feet up at the end of the day. I used to sit with my feet in a bucket of nice cold water with some grapefruit oil in there, it was bliss!! DH kept trying to get me to buy a foot spa but I liked my bucket!

    Hi mum2be2010

Putting your feet up can help but I also suggest that you also exercise your feet when you put them up. Scrunch up your toes. Make big circles with your feet. Do not cross your legs/ankles when sitting. And yes drink plenty of water.

Do you sit with one of your legs/feet tucked under you?. This is a very common cause of swelling in one foot.

    Hey Alan,

Don't think I do and if I do (mainly in bed) it's the left foot tucked away not the right which is the swollen foot. Thanks though

thanks for that mammasue, I'm the same at the moment flip flops which are tight themselves, I don't think my slippers area helping much but my house it tiled so the hard flooring wouldn't do good.

Hope everyone else is going well xxx
