How awful. I didn't get this too much, but I know that pretty much every opportunity, it's good to get your feet up. Is there ANY position where it's comfy to have feet elevated? Can you lie on your side on the couch with your feet on a cushion and watch your daughter play from there?
You poor thing. Facewashers or handtowels with icy water around your ankles? If you can't get water down, maybe drink a sports drink or hydralite or whatever it's called, to make what you DO drink really count?
Hi Netix, sorry your feeling yuk. If I were you I would give your midwife a call. It is normal for swelling especially in the third trimester but if it has come up really quick or doesnt go away at night or your hands are also swollen it could be a sign of Preeclampsia, a pregnancy related type of high blood pressure which can be dangerous.
Some ideas to relieve the swelling are, drink more water, when you sit or lay down prop your feet up above the level of your body and get your partner to give you a massage !!
I've been suffering from really bad swelling in the feet/ankles since about 18wks!
I find the only thing that really helps is sleep, that is, lying down over night.
Putting my feet up at home or work doesn't really reduce it... I've had a massage, a proper foot one from the therapist, that seemed to help for a day or two, but then it came back up again.
I went to a wedding on a hot day when I was about 22wks and in between the ceremony and reception I had my feet up and DH rubbed them down with ice which seemed to help a bit, but they went up again at the reception.
I'm starting to get achey ankles now, probably because of the extra pressure on the joints, but there really isn't much else we can do about it!

If you are worried about the sick feelings too, give your MW a call. I'm sure they wouldn't mind if you rang now, as opposed to waiting til Wednesday.
Perhaps just wandering into your hosp. maternity ward where you are booked in to get a quick check of your blood pressure. Im sure they wont mind, just to set your own mind at ease. Or give them a quick call and see what they say.
As others have said get your BP checked. If all is OK with that then my only advice is to get your feet up above your head. That's what my OB told me to do when it happened to me. I hsd it for several months and it got worse towards the end so much so that I could barely walk with open toed shoes on (in the middle of winter). Lie on your couch with your head low & your feet up on pillows or the arm rests. He also said to massage your ankles & calves downwards (whilst they are pointing upwards) to encourage the fluid to return into the rest of your legs. I feel for you, I remember how uncomfortable that was.
I get the same thing. But I have the luxury of no other children apart from my animals and a swimming pool. But for those days that I dont wanna sit in the pool I put my feet on some pillows and chuck some frozen peas or somehting thats frozen and cold on them and boy it makes you feel better!!!
