Hi.
Was interested if anyone knows why I am having bad pain in/around my tail bone.
It hurts to sit down, and when im driving. It hurts when i lay down, or when anyone even touches my lower back. And if ive been sitting down for even 5 minutes and go to get up out of the chair, i feel like an old woman, and i can barely straighten myself without being in agony from it.
Is it just from the excess weight im gaining...could it just be causing extra strain on my tail bone??
Im hoping its nothing else?? I mentioned it to my midwife at my last check up, but she wasnt really listening, and kind of dismissed the question without answering.
It might just be the relaxin hormone kicking in. It makes everything loose and roomy in your pelvic / tailbone region which helps with the birth but doesn't really help with the carrying your baby around for the rest of the pregnancy!! If only we could turn relaxin on and off when we wanted!
If you do find yourself getting too sore, go & see a physio specialising in Womens' Health. They will sort you out with some exercises to help strengthen or stretch the muscles that are causing you this pain. I can't recommend this highly enough, as I suffered with bum pain for ages and one visit to the physio and I was a NEW WOMAN!!
