Is there such a thing as too many Braxton Hicks???

    O.K Girls, I'm so confused...

I'm just over 32 weeks pregnant with twins and have been experiencing Braxton Hicks for what seems like forever - since about 21-22 weeks, however over the weekend they seem to be coming more frequently. Some are just the tightening, others are stronger where it seems like they are also constriciting my lungs making me breathless and I have even had some that are uncomfortable enough that they have woken me from a nap or sleep.

Yesterday I timed some of them and I was getting between 6-7 per hour lasting about 2 1/2 minutes every 7-10 minutes apart. I have been told that twin a is already starting to engage but so far have not had a "show" at all. I know I should expect them to get more frequent as my belly keeps growing as I'm now measuring bigger than a singleton pregnancy but am I getting too many.

I start CTG monitoring at my hospital starting on Friday but want to know that I'm not going crazy.

    You're not crazy!
Considering you've got 2 bubbas in there, I'd suggest you talk to a MW or at least go and get a CTG.
    They sound a bit serious.

    *hugs*

When I was in hospital the other week they did a CTG as I was getting the same thing but they did say to me that it is completely normal especially with multiple pregnancies as we have twice the amount of baby in there so our bodies are feeling more IYKWIM. Wouldnt hurt to talk to your midwife/OB though if you want to check up on things before friday because I never had a show with any of my babies and my waters didn't break naturally with Claire either despite being 6cm dialted by the time i got to hospital.
We started the fortnightly CTG monitoring 4 weeks ago and I have a tip for you get them to set it up with you lying slightly on your side, they try doing it on your back but the extra weight from twins will restrict your blood flow and make you feel sick and dizzy and just YUCK!

It could be that you have an irritable uterus which would make it seem so much worse than normal.

I just rang the hospital and they told me to come in this afternoon to get monitored and not to wait until Friday, they told me better to be safe than sorry IYKWIM.

I had an amazing amount of BH with the twins, compared to basically nothing with DS. There was times when I said to DH "I swear I'll go into labour tonight" for weeks before the birth. I was on weekly CTG from about 30weeks, then twice a week from 34weeks. They had just stepped it up to 3 times a week the day before I actually went into labour - blessing in disguise really because I hated the monitoring - very boring and half the time we'd be nearly finished and they would say "Opps, we were monitoring the same twin twice!" and have to start again! Twin pregnancies should come with a see-through stomach!

Everything was good with the boys and the contractions on the monitor were very mild... Um not what I was feeling in my "you know where", everytime one hit it would take my breath away. My Ob was at the hospital when I was there so checked and said that nothing is happen yet just my body reacting to being overstretched. I've just been told to rest (because an almost 18mth old allows lots of rest) use a hot water bottle and take panadol. I would have much preferred them to say rest, hot water bottle and a block of chocolate, I think chocolate would have a more soothing effect than panadol at this time.

So back on Friday for my monitoring appt and I just need to keep pushing through everyday in discomfort to hopefully get to the 35-36 week mark if my body can cope that much longer.
