    are these pains normal?

i have been having some cramping like af pain on and off every day for the last 2 weeks.. could this be a form of bh?

the other night i had these cramps for 2 hours every 10 mins and just as i was ready to wake dh up they went away..

i still get the normal tightening sensations bh.. but these pains are all new to me.

is it normal or should i be worried??

everyday also, i get sharp stabbing pains like as if baby is headbutting something... they only last a second or two, but its enough to make me double over in pain... what could this be??

Also, on thursday i am having a scan to see if my placenta has moved away from my cervix, will they be able to tell if my cervix is closed or changing in anyway??

sorry for all the questions.. but i have no idea what to think of all of this..

    Hey Sirenz

the cramping is commonly due to the stretching of all the ligaments around the pelvis, and your baby getting bigger placing more strain on the pelvis and the uterus...when they occur in runs of a few at a time this is generally bh, and if you change your activity eg if laying down, get up or walking, sit down...they generally stop. If they dont stop and they increase in frequency and intensity it may be the start of labor (but as your not due till November, if in doubt ask you dr at your next appointment).

remember that bh's are important as they allow the uterus to build tone and oxygenate the uterine muscle

In the 3rd trimester the uterus can get a little irritable...as it is stretched and things like your baby moving...having diarrhoea...walking etc, can cause the uterus to become active with bh

the baby sounds like he or she is tap dancing on your cervix...a very sensitive area with lots of nerve fibres

yes they can see your cervix on u/s...sometimes they need to use an internal probe to ensure it is long and closed if you are preterm and there is a fear of preterm labor

    hope this helps
