    Belly belts?

Hello! I'm 33 and a bit and thinking of getting a belly belt for two reasons- the first is to help get my belly back in shape / hold it in place after birth. The second is because I've had strong but not constant pelvic and related pain since half way through the pregnancy - maybe earlier. Groin pain, feeling pressure below, sore tail bone, sore buttocks etc. what are some good brands? Can I use them now and post birth?
    Thanks

I am wearing a belly band to help support my abdom cos i have abdominal muscle seperation. Last pregnancy i had one from the physio made from tubigrip and i wore it after the pregnancy to help tighten things back up again. This time i am wearing one made by a small business. It cost $40 including postage. I can PM you the details if you are interested. I am now wearing two of them at at time cos i am near the end, very big and need extra support. I haven't tried any commercial ones but also interested if there are ones recommended.

*bump* just an update- after Honor was born a midwife gave me a tubigrip as my belly felt uncomfortably like jelly which was enhancing my after pains. I'm not sure if I'm wearing it correctly though? It's comfortable for one thing- I've read lots of people complaining they feel too tight? Also how high or low should I wear it? Currently it's sitting just under my bust line and finishes just below my hips. The open ends are at the bottom and the rolled/folded over top section is at the top.

I'm only 29weeks and got myself some tubigrip from work and have been wearing it, mainly cause i'm getting really sharp lower abdo pain, stretchy, almost like 'm struggling to hold bub in. But even with it I still get the pain in my pelvis... I find it rolls all the time and sits on my undie line with makes me feel there is no point, because it is that area and below that I feel I need the support.

any tips? did you have any luck Ladylove?

I bought 2 BellyBra Tanks last pregnancy, they were a godsend with my SPD, the BellyBra kind of 'lifted' the weight a bit, then i had a strong elastic vrocro up band that i wore around my hips to help my SPD for a few hours every day.

Teirae I'm liking mine. It's quite long so sits well over my hips. The top part does need straightening/pulling up through the day but where it matters- the belly- it stays put all day. I think it's helped to 'pull' my belly back into shape since birth and it definitely helped to make my organs and belly to feel comfortably tight and held in place immediately after birth- I hated that loose internal feeling.

Anyone know where I can buy one IRL? I don't want to wait for it to arrive by post.

I have a question too! Should they be worn from the beginning of pregnancy? I had severeqQ muscle separation with DD, and due to a very hectic time in my life after she was born, never really treated it :/ Now I'm almost 5 weeks and I can really feel that I'm going to need one of these daily. So yeah, if anyone knows good brands, and like Marushke said, where I can try on and purchase IRL, that'd be great.

I think many can be worn from birth depending on the brand? Pumpkin you'd want a really good one by the sounds of it....maybe ask your doctor or midwife?

Maruschke I'm not sure about that one but again can you ask your doc or someone you are seeing with the preg? Also sounds obvious but have you googled stockists?

I'm not sure about belts, but a friend lent me her SRC pregnancy shorts, which support the lower belly. They're pretty expensive, but you can get them online and they resell on ebay quite well. The one I borrowed was a size S, but I'm probably a size M now. I've purchased the equivalent SRC Recovery Shorts for after bubs is born. This is our third baby and my first two babies were huge. I had a 5cm dram/separation in tummy muscles and I'm expecting something similar after this one's born. The recovery pants are like bike shorts and come up to about the ribs. Specially designed to give support to the perineum and tummy muscles post birth. They're not cheap, but I got mine on ebay (given they're only worn for about 6 weeks or so). I think you can get a rebate from your private health if you get a physio or GP to complete a form saying that you need them.
