I had a few U/S as well and the earlier ones were more accurate. My doctor went by my 8 week U/S that said I was due on November 18th, even though my 20 week U/S said I was due November 6th. DS was born on November 18th

    Hi,
I was told that dating scans are only accurate before week 11. I went through a similiar situation, and got very worried when I was told at 18 weeks that DS was measuring 2 weeks behind my dating scan at 7 weeks. I had to go back 2 weeks later to check measurements again, but he was back on track again, the sonographer just put it down to a growth spurt.
I would go by your first dates.

thanks... I am just worried if Im overdue again... which I wonder coz I felt him move into my pelvis more last night - veeeery quickly which was weird lol. But if I am - I could be really overdue if my 1st scan was right it worries me!

Dunno how Im meant to tell the OB that I want to go with my 1st scan when he insists the 14 week scan is more accurate???

    Hey Danielle,

Oh it's all so close for you now.

If your really worried, I would explain to your OB that your concerned that if the earlier date is correct, that you could be past 40 weeks. But I would try not to worry as full term is up until 42 weeks. If you go over 42 weeks by your first date, and if your still worried I would ask your OB to check on bubs and fluid levels, but I'm sure he will do this anyway if you make it that far, but by the sounds of it I doubt it!!

Good luck with your upcoming birth. How exciting that you felt him move further down, things might be getting close for you, yey !!!

I was more worried of him using the later date for my due date then going 2 weeks past that, if the 11th was my proper due date, that would make me like 4 weeks overdue or something rediculous. Alot of people have said to me the earliest is normally what they use to determine EDD, so I dunno what he's doing. I sooooo hate doctors! One says one thing then another a different thing!

I have an ante-natal appointment tomorrow with my GP I have already discussed all this with my GP and he says to go by the earliest where as the OB says the 14 week scan. I will find out tomorrow how far the baby moved into my pelvis last night. I thought they gradually moved down over time but sheesh I near jumped through the roof with how fast he pulled himself down there, because of how fast he did go into my pelvis I was up and down all night with weird feelings in my belly and worried cause Im only meant to be 32 weeks (going by OB 14 week scan).

Its so frustrating... I hope and pray to god he just comes when he's ready and I dont have to be worried about going over the later due date, I am going for Vbac too, so this is HUUUUGE progress for me, for my baby to move into my pelvis didnt happen last time. So fingers crossed!!!!

Yeah I would definately speak to your GP and see what he has to say. I was always told ealier the better for EDD and anything over 11 weeks will give an EDD 2 weeks either side.

If it were me, I would just tell my OB at 38-40 weeks his dates, that you want to check on fluild levels and bubs, as your 40-42 weeks by your dates, and concerned for your bubs sake.

FIngers crossed though at your GP visit, he has some good news for you.

Good luck with your VBAC, I'm sure you'll breeze right through it. Can't wait to here how you get on.

Good luck at your appointment today Danielle. Please let us know what your GP has to say regarding your EDD. How are the pains?
