Last night I was in bed and everytime I moved or got up I would get dagger like pains at the top of my bump. It was sooo painful I nearly woke DH to take me to the hospital.
I feel ok this morning but I couldnt get over how bad it was and especially at the top of the bump which Ive never heard of.
Has anyone got any suggestions on what it might be?

I can't say what causes it but a few weeks ago i started getting the same thing everytime i roll over, It's still happening to me every night now and i find the only thing that helps is to get up and have a stretch or a walk around before hopping back into bed. Hope someone else can be more helpful as to why it happens GoodLuck.
Could it be your bub resting on your nerves? Maybe a change of position will help. I got that awhile ago, and yes, the pain was almost unbearable. When I spoke to my doctor about it, she suggested a change of position because she suspected my bub was lying on my sciatic nerve. A walk could help too! Hope you find the solution to your problem soon. Let us know.
I'm going through the same thing only mine lasts all day. Changing positions helps for a bit it comes back pretty qucikly. I have a doctor's appt in a few days so I was going to talk to him about it but I read in a pregnancy book that it was common in the third trimester just from the pressure of the growing bump.
it could possibly be your bubba putting pressure on your rib cage....with a little foot or knee
the rib cage does expand in pregnancy...but babies have a unique ability to get right under the ribs and 'tickle' our diaphragm, which causes that sharp, painful sensation. Some women feel it as referred pain in the back, just under the shoulder blades
reflexology or osteopathy help as they both work on aligning the skeletal system
positions are also useful...such as yoga
try sitting on the floor in front of a chair, with your knees wide (wider than your hips), big toes together and sitting with your bum on your heals...then keeping your bum on your heals bring your folded forearms to the seat of the chair and rest the head down
this is a great stretch for helping relieve pressure on the rib cage and diaphragm, and helps to alleviate heartburn and breathlessness
resting your forehead also calms the nervous system...reducing BP and increase feelings of wellbeing and relaxation
This is one of the signs of PE. But if you do not have anyother signs, spots/stars in front of eyes, swelling of hands/face/feet, headache, dizzy, or just feeling unwell. then it is probably caused by the position of your baby. As yogababy said your ribcage expands during pregnancy and all the ligaments and cartalidge can become quite painful. If you do have any other signs of PE go to the hospital

thankfully I have not experienced this pain since that 1 night. You know before I got pg, I had no idea all the different aches and pains that occur during prenancy.
