    Question Waters? Semin? Urine?

I was hoping maybe someone could shed a little light on what happening to me the last couple of days (TMI ALERT!)... Oh I should also tell you I am GBS+ which is my only reason for concern...

Thurs lunch time - DH and I trying 'trying to naturally bring on labour'
10pm - Underwear wet, so changed them before bed.

Fri 2am - Woke was my underwear were VERY wet, went to toilet and changed underwear again. Spoke to hossy at 3am told me to hold off and hour and see what happens.
4am - Wet patch on underwear about the size of a 50 cent piece so was told to go to hossy for a check.
4:40 - Got to hossy went to toilet and underwear were wet through again.
Hossy tested the fluid on underwear bringing a positive result for me waters, but MW said semin can give a false pos.
6am - Pad fluid swab tested again, giving another pos reading, fluid had ease slightly.
By 7:30am there was next to no fluid.
11am - Was released from hossy as fluid had stopped and everything put down to semin (seeming a bucket load, but OB tells me the cervix breaks it down and waters it down making a lot that comes back out)... No probs the rest of the day (apart from lack of sleep!)

Woke during the night again with VERY wet underwear, out it down to maybe a little leaking wee maybe??? Anything is possible at this stage of preg!
Went to toilet, wiped very well after and walked back to room with no underwear. Went to put new pair on and realised there was water running down my legs.
Wiped it up and smelt the paper to see if I had peed myself (after I had just been to the toilet) and didn't realise... Couldn't smell a thing on the paper!! Nothing at all, woke DH and made him smelll, he didn't smell anything either...

What is going on??? Surely last night couldn't have been more watery semin could it?!!
I know waters don't start and stop leaking leaking, but I just don't understand.
I am worried that I will start leaking water and not get to the hossy quick enough, resulting in a sick baby from getting GSB.

Anyone had this?? Suggestions on what is happen would be great!
    Thanks for reading.

It sounds like your water is leaking? I would ring the hospital again and explain and remember to mention you are GSB positive.
Do you have any other symptons like back ache/period cramping?
Good luck...exciting, could be a May Day Baby

Sounds like a slow leak to me as well. I would go back in and get checked out again.

What an interesting fact that both semen and amniotic fluid can show up as your waters breaking on the tests one learns something new every day

Take care and wish you all the very best xxoo

    I'm still here.

Thank you for your advise ladies! I have had some light period like cramping today and just don't feel well. I am going to see how the rest of the day goes and call the hossy later today to see what they make of it all.

Clover - Well I'm glad I'm not the only one that had it stop start!

Beema - I thought it was a little weird too! They have similar properties that react with the test or something?!!

Honey, you really should go to the hospital. I had a hind water leak and mine only leaked when I was laying down (sounds a lot like yours). So I would have lots of wet undies over night and then not much during the day. It has to do with bubs position when you're up and moving around they can plug the leak so to speak, but when you lay down a bit is able to trickle through iykwim?

Being GBS positive you can't be too careful, particularly if you aren't feeling well, I don't want to alarm you but it could be an early sign of an infection developing. I really would call the hossy now and insist on coming in to have it checked again. GL

    Hi Darl,

I think you should call the hospital again or better still go in , especially because you are GSB positive it's been a few days now you dont want to take any chances. You said your feeling off today so i wouldn't be at all suprised to be reading a birth announcement in the very near future.

Goodluck darl, sending loads of labour vibes your way

A little update - Rang the hossy and the MW told me as it wasn't happening during the day then it would only be water mucus and there can be a lot during preg. She said to wear a pad and if it gets really wet then I can take it in for testing again.

I must say I felt as though she was rushing me when I was talking, I tried to explain what had happened when I went to hossy on Fri morning, but she just cut me off and said 'yep yep yep and...' I had such a good experience at this hossy with DD, but I didn't have anything out of the ordinary with her. I'm not feeling very confident with them there at the moment... Nothing I can do about it though, the joys of living in a small town!

Thank you all for your advise. I will just keep an eye on it all and see how we go from there.

    Re: Waters? Semin? Urine?

Sorry that the ladies aren't being very supportive Pishy.

I was speaking to my GP the other day about the colour of my Urine being bright yellow and she said it's from taking VitB. She then went on to say that preg women can take VitB at the late stages of pregnancy so it can be determined if the Mumma is leaking urine (the pad would show a trace of yellow) or if it's fluid of some other kind.

    Hope everything is alright.

I'm placing my bets on a Friday (7th) or Saturday (8th) baby.

Well maybe the MW were just busy when you called again. It is a small hospital like you said, and it musnt be anything to worry about.

Its rubbish how they make you feel like you're just annoying them tho. Because stress can bring on the baby, and you think they would be doing everything they could to stop you from stressing.....oh well, I guess we can't get happy, nice, caring MW's all the time

CBG - Thanks for that! haven't heard of doing that before, might ask my OB on Tues and give it a go! I really don't like smelling my underwear so much to try and decipher what it is!

Sleepy - She must have been busy because I really haven't had anyone ever rush me like that before, just didn't make me feel very good with her getting only part of the story, but it's ok, she must have got enough info from me to give me advice. I am feeling a lot more relaxed about it all now!

Sorry to hear your MW was so unsupportive honey... I really think you should listen to your gut on this one... If you had more leaking overnight and suspect it may be your waters then don't bother calling, just show up and insist on them checking. It can't hurt...

In my experience what she told you about leaking during the day is completely untrue. My waters only leaked if I had been lying down, so overnight I had a bit and then the next day next to nothing. That was until I decided to have a snooze on the couch for an hour or so. I got up and had a tiny trickle down my let (didn't have any undies on). When I called the hospital they were also a little sceptical but told me to come in just in case, sure enough when they tested my pad it was amniotic fluid.

My OB put me on AB's right away (I hadn't been tested for GBS) and I was instructed to check my temperature every 3 hours to make sure I wasn't developing an infection. Perhaps it wouldn't hurt for you to just keep an eye on your temp just to be sure.

Good Luck! Whatever happens you'll be meeting your LO very soon x
