I woke up about 60 minutes ago with a refluxy feeling in my throat and the urge to vomit. I sat up in bed and got my first painful tightening in the uterus and thought, oh! thats a BH! it lasted about 30 secs and went away. The urge to vomit remained so I went and got a glass of water and went back to bed when the next painful tightening occured, about 2 mins later and lasted 30 secs again. I then decided I might try and see if I can vomit wich I only just gagged and went back to bed where again, I had another painful tightening, same thing, another 30 secs. they start at the bottom and are in my back and then go to the top of the uterus. I then thought I might have to go to the toilet, well I have been here for 45min, with every tightening I got a LOUD gurgling noise in my tummy and then voila, out from the back end arrives the diarhhea So the last 10-15 that I have been typing this, I have not gotten a tightening or any more diarhhea and I don't feel like throwing up. I have never had gastro before so I guess I am asking, should I be going up to hossy if it starts up again? Does it sound like gastro or early labour? Why do these things happen at 2am?
oh that sucks! It could be gastro, but it could just be your body starting to prepare itself for labour. And yes, this could go on for a couple of weeks yet. Make sure you keep your fluids up and rest whenever you can. If the diarreah lasts more than 24 hours, than maybe head to your dr.
Thanks Jodi, I definitly need my rest, nothing has happened since my post so I don't know what it was, I might mention the episode at my midwife appt on Monday and see what they think. I imagine gastro lasts more than 1 hour? Oh the things our bodies do
sounds like gastro mate. I get that sometimes also. I was a sufferer of IBS so I know the symptoms very well and the feeling sick part is usually the first sign that something is in there that wants to come out in a hurry. Its a horrible cramping feeling that can often be all over the abdo (up high and low) as well as the back. Once the pressure is relieved by either passing it or passing wind the aches will start to back off. I used to suffer with the bowel spasms for hours later even after the problem had resolved itself. That is when I used to take buscopan but your not supposed to take that while pregnant.
A warm shower or heat back on your lower back might help relax the bowel as well as a couple of Panadole. And rest up, relax and don't panic.
Well I went to the labour ward today to get monitored. They have said that it was definitely contractions and told me off for not going in immediately so next time it happens I have to head right in. I am definitely getting BH's all day but since they are not painful I am not stressing about them. Looks like little man is in a hurry to meet his older brother and mummy and daddy. I just want him to hang on for about 4 more weeks. I am now officially not allowed to do anything more strenuous than dusting which to me is a pain, I am just such a go go go person I even came home from the hossy and vacuumed
No Sarah! Do not vacuum! Trust me, you do not want this little one out until he is well and truly cooked! The first thing I thought when I read your post was that you were having cx. I know how bl00dy hard it is, but you're just going to have to rest until your bubba makes an entrance, it's just too important. Think of it as a good excuse to spend more time on BB And if it happens again, STRAIGHT to hospy for you, that's an order LOL.
Hang in there, and tell your baby to hang on too!

I have had the same type of things happening for about the last 6 weeks or so. Every time the pains have started ive gone to hospital where theyve done a test called fetal fibronectin which is where they take a swab from the cervix and test it for cervical changes. I've had the test done 4 times now as i have a high risk of pre term labour and have only had one positive result which was at 29 weeks and was kept in hospital for 5 days until a scan confirmed that my cervix was still long and closed. It's so frustrating as ive been admitted to hospital another 3 times since then but have been told that my contractions arnt strong enough to cause my cervix to dilate.I'm still getting them sometimes as close as 5 minutes apart and they are so painful but now i dont know when i should go back to hospital because of all the false alarms ive had. I too am also supposed to be on bed rest but with a 2 year old at home to look after its a bit hard to rest. My son was born at 34 weeks and im almost there now but this bub is a lot smaller than what he was so im hoping i can last a few more weeks. Hope that your little bub stays put for a few more weeks too.
Please try and rest, you don't want to end up in hospital on forced rest.
I had a pre-term labour. At 32 weeks I had atypical contractions which started one evening lasting 10-30mins every 2 hours. I was checked out and was found to be 50% effaced. They gave me medication to stop the contractions and I was given steriods to mature bubs lungs. At 33 weeks I had PROM and was transferred to a hospital which had a neonatal unit. I was monitored for infection for the next week. At 34 weeks I was induced. Bub was born happy and healthy, he just had to learn to suck and regulate his temp. He also needed treatment for jaundice. I was stayed in hospital for another week, Bub stayed for an additional week.
The 3 weeks away from home were emotionally draining, for myself and DH. The week I came home and left DS were so surreal, I was crying at the drop of a hat.
Wow I had this last night, I was thinking it must just be a bug, after going to the loo (about 5 times ) the pain stoped and I had a bath then went to bed. Have had a couple of pains today but not like yesterday`s. A few nights Iv`e got up and felt sick so here I am at 2 or 3am eating a banana (they are awesome for morning sickness) maybe I should keep a closer eye the next time this happens. LMS please try to rest.
