    When to wear maternity bra's?????

    Hi everyone!!!

I'm just wondering when everyone started wearing maternity bra's?? I have big boobs and just feel my maternity bra's don't offer enough support whilst I have no milk in my boobs.

    Thanks
    Jac

Maybe might be worth getting yourself professionally fitted, i found a huge difference in say a k-mart bra to a lingerie shope

I found some brilliant flexible underwire nursing bras at Bella Forma - you might want to give them ago. They cater for larger (.)(.)

I started at 20 weeks each time and I am a 10G. I found it hard to get used to the first time, now I struggle to go back to bras with underwires .

If you are really uncomfortable you can still wear underwires but you need to make sure that they are not even a bit too small and dig in anywhere as that can damage your milk ducts. That is what I have been told anyway. Maternity bras are designed to grow with you so even though your breasts will get bigger during your pg you don't need to buy new bras every month or 2. You could also find just wirefree bras for while you are pregnant as you don't actually need the clip up straps yet. Some of those feel much more supportive (though usually not very attractive ).

I have a lovable one that unless i am wearing a tight top to keep everything in place by bb's feel like they are about to fall out and forget about laying on your side with this one cos they do fall out. I just checked out the site for Lovable yesterday because besides that it is a really comfy bra and i got a couple (i know my size) i just changed the style - i didn't want a bra that pushed the bb's together IYKWIM, i went for a style that seperated them and kept them seperate. Lovable also go up quite high in sizes too which you don't always get with some of the other brands.

I had issues with my first PG feeling I was going to fall out. I got a crop top style thing that wasn't too tight to put over my maternity bra until I got milk. The extra little bit of support stopped me feeling paranoid about my bbs escaping.

If you feel the need for underwire support, try looking for maternity bras with flexiwires. These are a plastic based wire which are meant to be better than the metal underwires. Cake, Bravado & Anita all make them . Metal wires are not advisable during pregnancy as they could possibly lead to blocked milk ducts and subsequent mastitis.

Wirefree bras don't exactly sit against the sternum as it's the underwire that makes the bra sit flush. They are a different feel and take getting used to. However, if you are over an E cup, get the ones with the inner A frame as these offer more support than the ones with a side sling.

I was also an early adopter of a mat bra. Started wearing them at 13-14 weeks as I couldn't get into my normal ones by then. I was a 12C prior to pregnancy and jumped to a 14D or a 14DD depending on cut really quickly. Figured it was just as easy to buy mat bras that I can wear the whole way through. I have also been fitted professionally at a lingerie shop, but actually the most comfortable one I have is the cheapest one I own which I got from Target - and on sale at that!!

On weekends or depending on what Im wearing, I also sometimes wear a maternity singlet instead of a bra, or just one of my pre-pregnancy siglet tops that are now tight and hold things in! I dont like bras with wire. I think being winter helps too - can put on a scarf to hide the cleavage!!

What about a non-underwire sports bra? I have one and it's VERY supportive!

Thanks girls! I am going to the shop to get fitted this week.
My underwire bra's don't feel uncomfy but just thought I should really start wearing matternity bra's soon. I finish work this Thursday so seeing I will be at home I'll b able to get used to the feeling of no under wire!!

    Thanks again
