All of mine have been as the baby is crowning. I think each time they have been plucked to get the to break.
With my first how ever I did have a slow leak thats started the day before when I got up in the morning to go to the loo. But it wasn't a big gush just a dribble

I was sitting on my lounge at 11:30am. I'd had a 'feeling' early that morning so had put a pad on. I was on the phone to my best friend and as soon as I felt something I said "I think my waters have just broken!" and ran into the loo My best friend was crying on the phone she was so excited

With DS my waters didnt break. They were broken by the midwife when i started to get the urges to push.
With DD they broke in the middle of the night at home.. about 2.30am or something. I woke and felt a small trickle.. didnt know if it was just CM or what.. thought i better go to the toilet just incase.. as i stood up out it came, luckily we have an ensuit right next to my side of the bed.

I'm really surprised that most seem to be throughout the night....I would have thought there would be a lot more during the day...although I do feel a little better.

Briley - 4am on the toilet.

Woke up for my usual 4am toilet visit 6 days past EDD. Proceeded to empty my bladder. As I lent forward I felt an air bubble rise up and heard a pop. This was followed by a trickling into the toilet. I was'nt sure if I was still peeing or if it was my waters. Labour started bout half an hour later. Briley was born 9.5 hours later.

Colby - ARM at my request during labour.

I was well in the midst of labour and my waters still had'nt broken. I was sure this was slowing the baby from coming down so I requested that my waters be broken. MW said only if when she checked I was fully dilated. She checked and was fully dilated so broke them. I however went back to 8-9cm dilated as my membranes were bulging so much before being broken that they were holding the cervix open to 10cm. Colby was born just over 2.5 hours later.

With DD1 my head lay on the pillow at the stroke of midnight. I heard a pop and ran to the loo and thankfully I made it with out a drop hitting the floor...I had to go to hospital with a towel between my legs.

DD2 my waters had to be broke by the midwife. She was born 10 mins later.

I was sleeping on the couch coz I found it more comfortable. I got up to go to the toilet and that's when I noticed my undies were soaking wet. I knew I hadn't peed myself coz it smelled different.

well I'm hoping my waters break in bed and ruin the mattress coz I've been bugging hubby for a new bed and mattress for years but he's too tight, so I'm sure a nice amniotic fluid stain would do the trick in convincing him

With Corban no 1. son I was induced so midwife did it

Kees no 2. son was in labour at hospital

Ardyn no 3. son he was born in the membrane. Very freaky but kinda cool now I think about it

And Scout no 4. son was asleep in bed. Rolled over and felt a "pop" and a gush. Jumped in the shower and cleaned myself up and then tried to clean the bed up while I waited for hubby to get home from nightshift. Was a really gross feeling sitting in the car going to hospital having a small gush every time I had a contraction. Walking into the delivery suite with a towel between my legs. Thank goodness it was 2.30 in the morning.

That is supposed to be incredibly good luck! It's called being born in the caul, wikipedia it!

Must say I'm glad that there have been no horror stories about waters breaking in the middle of the shopping centre or whatever LOL. My mum is coming to stay tomorrow ready to look after DS for when I go into labour and I know she's going to be treating me like I'm a time bomb...her labours were all very controlled so she is not real comfortable with the idea of going post dates, she worries that the baby "will be in trouble".

11 days overdue, 3am in bed. I had a plastic showercurtain on my bed, but only because i was having a homebirth and thought i might end up giving birth there. Contractions began right away but were mild and easy for about 7 hours, then needed working through but weren't hard work for about 5 more hours. At 4pm things got serious. She was born at 6.20pm, on the bed.
