i was in Borders bookstore on a thursday night, dh was on the otherside of the store. i reached up high to grab a book when i felt a 'pop' and then a huge gush! most of it soaked into my jeans but there was still a puddle on the floor! i grabbed dh, tied his jumper around my waist and ran out of there (more like a waddle in my state lol) i was so embarrassed i couldnt tell anybody, i didn't even notice if anyone was looking at me! it was like a comedy!

Omg I am so glad I'm not one of you whose broke in the shops!!!

First - c/s no waters breaking.
    Second - hospy broke them.
Third - spontaneous in the birthing suite standing up.... never knew there could be so much fluid in one person's tummy!! OMG it was like Niagara Falls and was still coming out as he was born! I am soooooo glad it didn't happen at home or in the car or anywhere else for that matter.

mine broke in bed in the middle of the night....
i had a towel under the sheet from about 36 wks (must add that to the to do list) and also sat on one in the car...
I also have these visions of being out somewhere - not much you can do if it happens - and i think at the time you will be more concerned with other things to be embarrassed but i think a fear we all have. makes a good story thoughto look at the positive side.

Mine broke while I was on a busy tram in the city! We were Christmas shopping when I felt a few pains and thought we should head home just to be on the safe side. Well 10 mins on the tram and I felt a huge gush. I didn't want everyone on the tram to know that the huge pregnant lady's waters had just broken so I sat there all the way home. It was the longest tram ride of my life and I kept getting gushes with every lurch of the tram. Luckily I was wearing a long black skirt so noone could see and DH just put a newspaper on the seat when I stood up. Thank god he was there!

My waters broke during a contraction as I was being wheeled to the operating room for my emergency c/s. I'd been induced due to drops in fetal heart rate, but the contractions that brought on distressed bub even more. It was during a contraction just before I got my epidural that I felt a pop, and then when I had to move into position for the epi they gushed out... stained green/brown too (meconium). Let's just say I'm glad I wasn't the one who had to deal with that mess!

My waters broke at 3am when I stood up to go to the toilet. I felt a slight twinge down low and thought it was just the baby pressing on my bladder. It shocked the pants off me - especially as DH and I were house-sitting someone else's home for the weekend!!
I was expecting to be overdue but it happened right on 38 weeks. Won't be doing that again....
My midwife said she had a feeling that my waters may break early as it was a full moon? Apparently the moon effects all bodies of water - not just the tides in the ocean!!

Driving home from Yoga, just dropped a friend off and was 2 min further down the road and pop! Then every time I accelerated and braked, gush... gush... by the time I got home 10min drive, I was soaked past my knees. My poor car seat!!

DH thought I pee'd myself but I said that my bladder hadn't held this much fluid in months!! And it didn't smell like it IYKWIM.

DH bought me out a towel, which I sat on and rang the hosy from my car. By the time I got inside (holding the towel like a big nappy ), and to the toilet to put on clean underwear and a pad there was hardly a drop left..... we took the towel trackies etc with us to hospital incase they didn't believe us

Although didn't need to bother as I was 8cm by the time I got to hospital!

I didnt really feel a pop it was more like niagra falls. My hubbie had gone away for work overnight and so my dad was "baby sitting" me. He'd brought over his lap top so I went to get an extension cord from off the floor and whammo! It was like I had a gallon of water flowing out of me. But at least I didnt have any doubts about whether I was in labour.

while bouncing on a birthing ball in the shower at the birth centre!!

what a fantastic feeling that 'pop' is! i was induced with DD1, and never felt anything... it was probably an hour before she was born, and i had been in the shower around 10 mins, so i think that helped the process! i'd been in labour for about 12 hours already!

WIth the first three they were all done for my in labour but the last one I was in bed out to the world. I felt/dreamed that POP then flooded my bed. I was home alone too as I had sent the kids to my mums and DH to work.
So there I was at 1 in the morning showering and stripping my bed all in between contractions.
The car ride was awful as everytime I had a contraction my pants would fill up with more fluid!
I walked into delivery with a towel between my legs and the midwife asked "have your waters broken?" No love this is the new fashion didnt you know??

I was on my hands and knees on a hospital bed naked, just about to start pushing, when I felt a big POP and it just came gushing out of me. At one stage felt what I thought was the baby's head just about to come out, but it must have been the membranes!

Apparently most peoples waters' break towards the end of labour? That's what our midwife said anyway.
