For the last few weeks I have had incredible trouble sleeping of a night. I can't get comfortable at all, I toss and turn, I get heartburn, I get hot flushes & haven't been sleeping for much more than an hour at a time and (TMI ALERT.............embarrassing but) the hemorrhoids I have developed seem to play up something shocking - but all this happens only of a night! If I try and nap during the day when DD is napping, I don't have these problems (which I often don't have time to do as that's when I tidy & get things done without a little one under foot). It's to the point I dread going to bed of a night even though my eyes are hanging out of my head. Has anyone else been going through the same thing? How have you overcome it? Please help. Somethings I have tried have been to have a nice warm shower before bed, using creams on the hemorrhoids and drinking plenty of water (don't even know if that would help... but does stop most of the leg/toe cramps I was getting), packing pillows around me everywhere, even sleeping elsewhere (ie in the lounge - don't know why but sometimes this helps me fall asleep for an hour or two).
I wish I had some advice. I've been struggling with nights the whole time but I've reached the point now where I spent half the night wandering around the house while everyone else sleeps, having warm showers at 2am, watching bad tv, and if I'm lucky dozing off on the couch. I avoided day naps for ages because I thought they were affecting my sleep at night but I've got to the point that my little nanna naps I can squeeze in while the girls are at school/kindy are the only real sleep I'm getting. You're so close now to the end that I would just sleep when your DD sleeps so you can build up your reserves a little, and just do whatever you can around the house while she's awake.
no real advice, but like Lulu said, you are so close now, maybe do just nap when you can. Apparently Witchhazel is good for roids, worth giving it a go? I also find icecream helps my heartburn - or atleast then the reflux doesn't burn. sorry, don't really have much else.
