Wont go over due date according to OB!!!

    Hi All,

I am 37 weeks 1 day today and my ob has told me I mostly likely wont go over my due date as the head is well and truly engaged. My question is - how many others have been told this and still gone over due date???? I hope he hasn't got my hopes up.

    thanks

My SIL was told by her ob that her sons head was engaged at 36w... she was induced 17 days over.

My personal opinion is they don't have a crystal ball so how would they know??
My sil was engaged from 32 weeks and got induced ten days over.
Your bub will come when he/she is ready so don't stress about what anyone says. Only your baby knows when they want to be born.

My first bub was engaged at 34 weeks and I went 3 days over. 4th baby engaged quite early and she went until the day before she was due.

TBH I really don't think it makes that much difference. Look at premmie bub's, more often than not they aren't engaged and stil come early

I agree, there's no way for him to know. I'd kill my ob if he told me that LOL!! I'd rather not have that expectation.

I went 10 days over last time and am expecting to this time as well.

i had my baby at 39 weeks, and my OB told me i would be v unlikely to be over dates.. but this was bc at an internal at around 38 wks I was already fully effaced and 3cm dilated.. bubs had been engaged for a few weeks but she did tell me that wasnt much of an indicator as some bubs engage really early and some not til the labour...

thanks everyone. I sort of wish he hadn't said anything as now I don't feel I could cope with going over. Would rather him have said I will go over and if it is earlier, well all the better.

I was told at my 38 weeks appointment (I was nearly 39 weeks) that bubs head was nearly fully engaged and that they didn't think I would go for about a week. when I got home from my appointment that morning my waters broke and I had my little boy 2 days later.

    So they really don't know!

My ob was quite certain I'd go early. Charlie was my 4th pg yet he started to engage at 31 weeks. My Dr even told me to make sure my bags were packed and to put the babyseat in the car by 34 weeks. I eventually had Charlie one day before his EDD. I guess he techinically was early, but not as early as the ob kept saying it would be.

Belle & Still hoping you guys should come back in and say hi in belly buddies! been wondering where you guys have gotten to!

I would rather my ob not told me he thinks i will go early, incase i dont, your emotions and everything else are going awall already you dont want to feel like you couldnt get your baby out when he said you would.
Hard to not expect that bub is going to come sooner but just try and work off the latest time possible, so your 37weeks, the longest you MAYT have left is 5weeks. anything before then will be a bonus!

Don't forget your due date is just an estimate. So until you get to 42 weeks you haven't really gone over. I know it is hard when you are sick of being pregnant, just keep in mind that your baby will come when they are ready.

becmc is right on the nut there.

DS was fully engaged at 36 weeks - I got to 40 weeks and 2 days. I was told exactly the same thing. There is no way of them telling.

I felt the same as you. I thought there was no way I was EVER going to make it. But you do and now 7 months later it almost seems like I was never pg.

So today is my due date and obviously I am still waiting. My ob, right up to last weeks visit said he didn't think I would go over due date. I suppose there are still a few hours to go!!!! Moral of the story - even an experienced OB can't predict when you will have your baby!!!!

I will be seeing ob on Friday - see what he has to say for himself!

    happy due date!!

well there you go, just goes to show its really only a guestimate isnt it.

the day is still young you might go into labour and have bub on your EDD! there have already been 2 Oct bubs born on their due dates!

good luck, i hope something happens soon!
