Lachlan was 6 and in Grade 1 last year. I requested he moved seats a heap of times. At one stage he was even on a table by himself. This was where he actually did his best work, but wasn't great for the social aspects. The teacher wasn't bothered by my requests and understood my reasons for it. So I suggest just have a chat to the teacher and ask if you can separate them and then see how she goes.
Yeah have a chat to the teacher, I assume she would have ideas of how to deal with it, I know alot kids can be so competitive (my nephew is one) the teacher should know the best way to get her to work, maybe just moving seats next to another child that likes to work at a similar pace.
I agree, talk to the teacher. I think a change of seats would be far less upsetting for her than a change of class. The teacher may also find a way to "work with" the competition if you know what I mean - give stamps for the most accurate work or the most interesting idea, rather than for finishing fastest? I think the competitiveness is normal, and likely to continue with other students/classes, but could be handled better if the teacher was aware of your concerns.
