Wow, I've not heard of that! It won't affect my kids, but it would make a huge difference to some!

Absolutely! I can't imagine if DD1 had to wait an extra year - she would be going nuts! If DD2 is anything like her I will be going nuts too if I have to wait an extra year!
yes i heard that it will come into effect in 2012- at the same time as they up the hours for 4 yo kinder to 15 per week.
hmmm i might see if i can find some info in the vic ed dept site.
I just emailed the Dept of Education so I will let you know if I hear anything.
thanks so much Nai
i checked out the website but couldn't find any information.
Here is the response!
Hi there Naomi
This rumour surfaces every year. I can assure you there are no plans in place to change the dates for enrolment eligibility. This was the matter for federal discussion 3-4 years ago, but has not progressed at all since this time.
Prior to a change of this scale, we would expect that there would be extensive consultation with education stakeholders, including parent groups. The changes would be widely advertised and discussed and the subject of intense media interest.
The status quo remains and I expect it will for some years to come.
Kind regards
... Ginger yeh this is the very first i have heard of it, although wouldn't affect my DD as she turns 5 in the May (she starts school in 2012) !!
As for 4year old Kinder hours they are slightly decreased ours for next year's from 12hrs to 11hrs.
At DD's Kinder we were given the choice of either 2 x 5.5hrs days or ... 2 x 3.5hrs + 1 x 4hrs days (this one we chose as we felt two 5.5hrs days were gonna be a bit long for our DD).
Nai send 'em to my home cause i'd go nuts if my DD started school a year earlier, i'd miss her too much - even the earbashing LOL![]()
