I would be very upset if that were my child and I would have gone to the principal or AP as you did. Keep an eye on it and see if there is any improvement. Prep is a difficult year - my sister has just started teaching a Prep/1 composite class after not doing so for 12 years & she forgets how dependent the children are at times and how much guidance they need. Perhaps it could be a teething issue for the teacher? I dunno but keep an eye on it. I hope your DD is ok.

from what i have been told this is his first year in kindy, and i like that he is a male teacher, and he has 2 toddlers of his own... i guess i just thought kindy would be an extension of preschool introducing formality

    UPDATE

So this morning I walked DD into the building so we can practice putting her bag on the hook and see where her hook is.
Mr teacher was there and said “whats happening” and I told him that the asst principle suggested I bring her in before class to practice putting her hat and bag on.

He was cutting out name tags and put one above her hook while I was there.

He then got a little defensive (obviously the Asst Principle spoke to him) and said that DD did tell him at the beginning of lunch that she couldn’t get her hat off and his words were
“ but I was half way across the playground and I wasn’t going to walk back just to rescue her hat”

Then he continued to explain to me that he fixes computers in the lunch hour and I said I knew that hence why I asked the Asst Principle who could see who she is playing with, and he suggested Ashley should come to him if she has any problems ( although he just told me she did and he didn’t help her??) . He also suggested that if she seems happy just leave her be.

SHould i just cower and hide and let things flow or push it further... gosh who thought it would be this hard!
