There are good public secondary schools in Camberwell, Glen Waverley, Balwyn, Ringwood...

I would expect to pay $450 - $550 a week for a modest two bedroom flat inner city. You would need at least $50k for a house deposit. Private school fees $4k-$30k, depending on type of school you are talking. It will be a little less for primary.
