Question Sunbury Parents - which School?

Parents from Sunbury, I need your help.
I have visited 2 schools that both seem good but are quite different from each other.
Can I get some feedback on primary schools in Sunbury ? If you want your comments to remain anonymous then PM me.

Thanks in advance. Hope I get some replied

Hey, speaking with other parents around Sunbury, I hope to send my two to Sunbury West Primary (on Elizabeth drive). I have had the best feedback about this primary school (in terms of public schools in Sunbury). Going down the list would be Sunbury Heights, Killara, and Kismet Park (in no particular order as far as I know), then Sunbury Primary (in Jacksons Hill) further down the list, along with Mount Carmel.

There is also Salesian College (in the Rupertswood grounds), which if I could afford to, would probably send them there (private). Other private schools nearby include Overnewton in Keilor, and Macedon Grammar. And there's a college in Gisborne too, but I don't know anything about it.

PM me if you want a chat!

    Hi Netix
WHat is it that people like about West when they talk about it? What are you hoping your kids will get out of it?
And what are you not so keen on with Jackson Hill?

Hearing from a year seven coordinator at one of the local high schools said that the 'best' year sevens had generally come from Sunbury West, and they have good programs for being able to help kids who don't quite fit in to the 'mainstream', and their principal is friendly (according to a group of Mum's I have spoken to who have recently done the whole visit every primary school in Sunbury thing). I know the friendly principal thing might seem a bit silly, but its a good start if they will meet with you. Some don't bother to make the time.

Hadn't thought too much about what I want them to get out of it though... Quickly, I would say a good grasp of the 'three r's', preparing them for further learning at high school, and also some sport or other extra-curricular activity that may be supported at school (as in they may do it in class, music, whatever, if you know what I'm trying to say).

Not so keen on Jacksons Hill as it didn't rate highly with the yr seven coord, and the other mums. The school is also limited with their space, so can't really expand if (sorry, WHEN) they will need to when Sunbury's population explodes to about 100,000. I like it from that aesthetic point of view, that its a quaint little school, but I think it has its limitations unfortunately.

Just had a thought, if you really want your kids to go to the quaint little country primary school, there is also Clarkefield Primary on Lancefield Rd. I'm tempted to move out that way just for the school! There are buses that go from the other areas to Sunbury for the high schools too (for when you need that).

Are you the only Sunbury parent? There must be other mums around!

Sorry, Salsa, I seem to be about it. There are a couple of other Mums on here, but I think they have only little kiddies. The Man's Boy went to Sunbury Heights, and I thought very little of that school, but a lot of that was the principal. I still don't want my two to go there, but the Man seems to think it was a good school
