How (and when) do you stop worrying about your kindergarden (prep) child?
Hello!
Crazy sooky mum alert!
DD is in her 3rd week of primary school and i cant stop worrying about her (althought none in done in front of her).
She started school in week 7 because we moved during first term but there has been a number of incidents each day that upset me.
I have raised them with the teacher but i feel like i am over thinking it and that the teacher will just start ignoring me soon.. so when did you stop worrying...
here are some examples of things that concerned me and i raised with the teacher.
please tell me if i am being stupid by raising them with the teacher!
#1 the first DD sat by herself - was not buddied with anyone, when bell went she didnt know where to line up, her teacher was inside teaching (through his break) and the other teachers didnt know who she was. SHe had to sit on her own until all the kids were in class and he arrived.
#2 DD had a boy spit at her and tell her he was going to bite her. she told a teacher (not hers) and nothing was done except telling the boy 'we do not bite' he continued to threaten her for another 3 days
#3 a girl in her class stabbed her in the arm with a pencil because DD said she wanted to be friends
#4 DD is still not playing with classmates at lunch and plays with senior grades (she tells me this).. i dont know who to ask to see who she is associting with (ie 5 year olds or 11 year olds) as her teacher doesnt do lunch duty
#5 DD was initially left out of cooking class because her names (in week 3 ) wasnot on the class list and wasnt called up to try cooking. she approached the teacher !
#6 was upset because she couldnt get her bag on her hook as the above bag was too heavy for her to fit to reach the hook, the teacher ignored her and a parent there on reading time helped.
#7 i tied her hat to her bag, she couldnt get it off so the teacher made her sit in the shade by herself at lunch, rather than ask where her hat was
ok i understand it is school and they need to be self sufficient, but am i really asking too much for the teacher to help settle her in, tell her what to do, buddy her up as a new student etc?
i feel like i am approaching the teacher every day with stuff that should be just human nature?
