Cyaetha: I asked the prep teachers last year what can I do about settling Isaac into logn days right up.. they said some parents were opting to not send them to school on a Wed or Fri for the first few weeks.. We are going to wait and see how tired Isaac is.. If it is all to much we will give him a break mid week..
My Little man starts school next week
Boo Hoo i am so nervous for him, he is very good academically but not so good socially.
At least his big sister will be at school too.
He has every wednesday off for the first five weeks as the school says they get a bit tired at first so this is how they do it.
Oh i cant believe my baby is all grown up and off to school, one good thing is il get some alone time with Lachlan now
i dint have a prepy starting but i wanted to wish all the mums and dads lots of luck and wish the little tikes the best of luck for thei first day.
My Nephew ( on my hubbys side) starts on thurs and he is excited. reminds me just how long me n my hubby have been together, i remember holding him when he was a few days old.
I was talking to my friend today whom i've known for 18yrs ... and her eldest child (Emily) will be starting secondary school next week ... and i asked her is she 'more nervous' than what she felt when her DD started prep years ago ... sadly she said she feels much more nervous with her starting secondary school ...
BUT she said it's strange in a way as it's also so WONDERFUL to watch them enter another stage of their life where 'they' will still let YOU hold their hand![]()
Hi Everyone,
My DS starts pre-primary on Monday and I am so upset about it. He went to kindy last year for 2 days a week but now it is fulltime and I'm not ready to let him go yet (although he his very excited!). A couple of weeks ago I had a big cry because my little baby was growing up, I felt very silly at the time but I couldn't help it.
I am a primary teacher and I am assuming our pre-primary is the same as prep. Because it is not compulsory (I work in the state system) you are allowed to keep them home if you think they are too tired just as long as you write a note or give the teacher a verbal explanation, especially if they are starting fulltime straight away as my DS is (some build up to fulltime gradually).
You would think being a teacher makes it easier to cut the apron strings but not at all!
Monica
In NSW i doubt you would be able to keep them off soem days etc, I have never seen it done and I am a teacher.
mrsmac, luckily for us Matilda's school is independant. So they generally do it with kindy kiddos. But there are 3 kindy kids starting on Thursday, so its a different world alltogether![]()
Thats good, I imagine independants can do that but it would be a lot of paperwork in a govt school orthey would just have the days marked as absent.
Ours used to finish 1/2hr early for the first term but the parents complained so now they do the full day straight off.
Just made my first ever school lunch, we are off to school now!! Waaaaaaaa.....![]()
Well I am surviving so far.. the house is far to quiet and I am missing my little man
He started crying about 6am saying he wanted to stay home but I was good kind and firm.. He was a little sooky right up till we were leaving then he started screamingbut we rang at 10 and he had settled in quite well and was outside playing with the other kids..
I hope he has a good day..
My ds3 just said.. I miss Isaacand he is so lost as well...
Aw I think I'm going to have a bit of that too. Caleb loves his brothers (as much as they fight lol)
Monica talk to the teachers about some quiet time if he needs it. Masons prep teacher last year had a couple of pillows and blankets and if the kids needed a rest she'd let them have a lay down. Angus has the same teacher this year so I'm glad he will have the same rest time if he needs it.
My eldest starts Thursday week in Victoria as well. He is excited wearing his backpack everywhere. I am just worried that after the first day he will say do I have to again lol.!!!!
I am nervous, excited worried all at the same time![]()
Usually its the 2nd week they decide they have done the school thing already and don't need to go anymore!!
I am so happy to announce.. Isaac had a fantastic day and can't wait to go back
It is such a relief..
