Unhappy Who's got a Prepy starting this year??

So who's got a baby thats about to leave the motherin nest for the first time and venturing out into the wonderful full time world of school this year?????

    Are you nervous as hell?

Is your baby excited and wearing their uniform everyday already?

I know this is Wilhelms second year...but I missed the first few weeks last year and I feel like im going to relive his first days this time round.

YES im nervous and excited for him...there is a new program for special need kids at his schoolthis year so it will be wonderful and new for him.

My eldest is starting as well.

I must be the odd one out cause I'm having a party on the inside lol, can't wait and neither can she.
I'm a bit nervous for her first adventures into the real world and I am sure I will be a bit teary when I leave her there but I am sooooooooo looking forward to it at the same time.
She is more than ready to go, gets so bored at home these days she really needs the stimulation and some friends her own age.

I am still looking forward to it for both our sakes.. Me for a little break and for himt o get some interaction that for the past year I haven't been able to do..

I think within a month he will be so excited and be really looking forward to going..

Did any of your kids go to daycare? My kids aren't looked after anyone but me or DH and I am with them 99% of the time.. Occasionally they will stay with my mum while we go to the shops but thats only when we are visiting mum. So Isaac going to school will make us feel like we are missing something for a while.. then as it did with our eldest we will get used to it

My DD is starting on Tuesday

I am mixed emotions about it all..
Going to miss her like crazy & won't know what to do with myself to a certain extent, but at the same time I'm excited for her & am happy to see her growing up.. She will become a social butterfly before I know it..
I'm also nervous, because I think we might get to Thursday morning & she'll pleading with me not to make her go..
DD hasn't being excited about starting school at all, until I picked up her uniforms & stationery on Friday, she hasn't stopped wearing her cullottes, polo shirt & hat since

DD has attended Daycare on & off for the last 3-4yrs..

Aidyn starts prep on Tuesday... I'm actually excited, but nervous for him. We decided to send him after a long complicated battle with different opinions from kindy etc on holding him back a year. He will be attending Prep at a state school from mon-wed (the school also has a special unit for kids with ASD), and then on thur fri he will be attending the 'prep class' at an early childhood development unit in a another suburb, which is a program especially suited to kids with ASD or other developmental disorders etc.
He's quite blase about it I think... so we will see how things go on Tuesday, I think it might hit home a bit more for him then!

Aidyn attended 4yo kindy last year, as well as 2 half days at the ECDU, so he is used to attending school like programs!

Goodluck to everyone and their preppies this week!!

Yep, my eldest starts Tuesday, it may be a little tricky as i am about to drop a baby literally any day now, and I'm very concerned he doesn't feel like he is being ousted just as bub comes into the family, so he might have a bit of a checkered start, I might take him out for a few days when bub comes...or bring him home when I'm in labour (having a homebirth) ahh well....we shall see how it all goes...

He also has never been in childcare, so I'm wondering how he will do, they are long days suddenly for little folk.

On the plus side, he is advanced acedemically, and very social, so he should do fine

Cyaetha: I asked the prep teachers last year what can I do about settling Isaac into logn days right up.. they said some parents were opting to not send them to school on a Wed or Fri for the first few weeks.. We are going to wait and see how tired Isaac is.. If it is all to much we will give him a break mid week..

In Vic, the preppies either finish early for the first few weeks, or only go 4 days a week until the March long weekend. Our school does the 4day option, with Wednesdays off until March. Works out great for us since MIL doesn't work Wednesdays!

I was talking to my friend today whom i've known for 18yrs ... and her eldest child (Emily) will be starting secondary school next week ... and i asked her is she 'more nervous' than what she felt when her DD started prep years ago ... sadly she said she feels much more nervous with her starting secondary school ...

BUT she said it's strange in a way as it's also so WONDERFUL to watch them enter another stage of their life where 'they' will still let YOU hold their hand

    Hi Everyone,
My DS starts pre-primary on Monday and I am so upset about it. He went to kindy last year for 2 days a week but now it is fulltime and I'm not ready to let him go yet (although he his very excited!). A couple of weeks ago I had a big cry because my little baby was growing up, I felt very silly at the time but I couldn't help it.
I am a primary teacher and I am assuming our pre-primary is the same as prep. Because it is not compulsory (I work in the state system) you are allowed to keep them home if you think they are too tired just as long as you write a note or give the teacher a verbal explanation, especially if they are starting fulltime straight away as my DS is (some build up to fulltime gradually).
You would think being a teacher makes it easier to cut the apron strings but not at all!

mrsmac, luckily for us Matilda's school is independant. So they generally do it with kindy kiddos. But there are 3 kindy kids starting on Thursday, so its a different world alltogether
