birthday girl first!!! I just had to make a mad dash to target for pants as my go out ones didnt fit.Well they did around the legs but not the jellybelly.Damn that!

Help needed.
tried Ashleigh with the bottle of expressed milk this evening, no luck, she ended up getting really upset so i put her on the boob for 10 mins then tried again. She just kept chewing on the teat. I squeezed some of it in and when she got the taste she opened her mouth to suck but when realized it was a bottle got annoyed. We spent 45 mins on and off bottle and on and off boob, only got about 10 mls into her from the bottle. Towards end she looked like she was willing to give it a try but kept gagging on the teat. I was using Avent but are there other brands out there with shorter teats? She may take to it better if she's not being gagged, otherwise I'm stuck with no life til god knows when.

try the new tommee tippee bottles that are shape like a breast.They feel and look fantastic!

shellbell3 if ya want to feed EBM the tommee tippee ones are supposed to be great, we use both avent and these http://www.tommeetippee.com.au/closertonature/ the teats are supposed to represent the breast better, they are around the sam eprice as avent bottles etc

They should fit into the Avent bottles. I know other brands I've used fit.

The closer to nature ones don't fit avent bottles... they are heaps bigger/wrong shape. If you have avent bottles you want to use, try the pigeon peristaltic ones... soft, stretchy teats - Xander takes only these ones!

I have a nuk bottle for River which he drinks pretty well from, but have nothing to compare it to..I got that because he has nuk dummies and I didn't want to confuse the sucking experience too much :p Perhaps that's why he takes the bottle well, because it's like his dummies.

Well, can't hear any noise right now, but about 5 mins ago, I heard River cooing from his room...honestly, if that boy doesn't sleep soon, he's going to fall into a coma or something! At least he's not screaming, quiet time I can handle :)
I'd say from the lack of crying that that last feed was what he was after. I had a good nap on the couch anyway before while Rans played xbox, so I feel better. It's just so exhausting when they won't settle hey.
And it's the weekend, so I'll only need to get out of bed if I need to pee! The rest of it Rans can do, or bring the boy to me in bed - hurrah!

Rans just put River in his Baby BeeHinds nappy, because he's going longer between feeds overnight, he's soaking through the flannel flats, and I hate to think what would happen if he did a big poo! Although the cover would catch most, hopefully.
How are you other cloth users going? Still going? Using disposables? Half half?

Speaking of toilet related things...:p hopefully back tomorrow, may we all sleep superbly! xo

ETA: Look at my beautiful man sleeping with his bum in the air :) He turns me to mush sometimes, he's just so cute.

I love your new ticker pic Nelle!!! Oh.. and we are still using cloth full-time and all is going well. So much easier than I ever thought to be honest (oh, and I bought a heap of BumGenius' - LOVE THEM!!!)

Oh ho ho those BumG's...so cool. Need to buy some more BBH's for night, what do you use for nights, or are the frequent feeds meaning you don't need something to go the distance so far?

Getting changed into my pyjamas, I discovered I was leaking quite a bit, so I expressed a feed...so ladies, I am headed for a good sleep while Rans can do the feed! Although I don't feel tired now cos of my nap...but I probably am tired, since today was rather stressful with River's out-of-nowhere grizzlyness. So I might try to sleep :)

I use cloth through the day and disposables of a night. Atleast I konw that buy using cloth, Vy's clothes will stay up (PMSL)
Caddie - I hope you had a lovely evening last night. PMSL at 'jelly belly' comment. Mines become a keg again.....ah the joys.
I was in big W and noticed that they sell the tommee tippee natural dummies now too. Ive gotta buy some cause Vy is always pulling her bloody dummy out.
Best go and ,$hit, shower and shave while everyone is still asleep and before the NEEDLES this morning. Im so not looking forward to it.

Nelle- Xander only wakes once during the night now (between 9pm and 4am) so definately need a decent nappy with all those wee's! I'm using either the hemp or bamboo BBH's.. the bamboo is a lot better at night. Will be starting to use the stash of wool soakers soon too.

Grrrr- my turn to get somewhat peeve'd. Last night, (like you Nelle!) I was really engorged so I expressed. Xander was asleep at the time, but he woke just as I was finished.... well, rather than DH offering to do the feed/nappy change and me head off to bed for an early one, DH just went to bed leaving me to bottle feed and settle Xander!!!! I'm also getting a tad bit annoyed that I pretty much always have to ask DH to take Xander for a cuddle, and then DH will only just get him and plonk him onto the couch next to him like he is a stuffed toy IFYWIM? I tell him Xander wont like just being ignored like that, then DH gets all "I dunno what to do, go back to Mummy" when he does cry.

hey girls, just wanted to let you know I won't be on for a while. Nina is feeding every 3 hours during the night & every 2 hours during the day, so I'm stuffed. On top of that Heath isn't helping very much so I need to try & get on top of things with him & Nina.

Hooray! Ashleigh only woke once overnight. Couldn't believe ut. She finally settled at 10pm, after numerous times on the booby. She was driving me bonkers, she'd pull herself off and then start carrying on cause it wasn't in her mouth! Anyways she slept from 10 til 4am, never gone that long, then slept til 7:30. Yay!

Nelle- you are so lucky having Dh bring bubs into you. My Df doesn't, he slept all night with his ear plugs in slept in til just now and then tonight is his "boys night". Be nice for me to have a night off or a good sleep in.

Anna**- Some men are funny with babies they don't know what to do. Df is pretty good now he will chat to her and sing silly songs. Df used to suddenly find he needs to do something important when she starts carrying on so he can handball her over to me. I did pick up on it though and pointed that out to him so now when she cries he does try to settle her but looks sooo relieved if I take her.

Jodi-Lee- I hope things settle down for you soon, is she getting enough at feeds? Hugs to you and I hope Heath gets off his butt and helps you out a bit more.

im hearing you anna on the DH front, finally i have a day that he is home, all i want is to catch up on sleep, but there isnt even an offer to look after caityn so i can catch up on some...grrrrr......im lucky if he has a cuddle, then he complains, that she crys when he does....and of cause back to mummy.......grrrr....maybe caitlyn just thinks who the hell are you!!!

got my periods back yesterday......well i think thats what it is.......so no more unprotected sex for me.......or maybe just no more sex, that might teach him to get his finger out and give me a hand!!!

we use good old fashion cloth nappies, doing real good too, I use disposables when we went away and will do when we go to agnes mums or IL's but at home cloth and pilchers :)

well i had a better nights sleep again

my mum put savanna down at 4am after a feed. she got up at 5am grizzling. i put the dummy in her mouth and turned the musical mobile on and taped her for a little. she eventually settled her self and slept till about 10:30am!! why cant they be like this everyday! hehe

i think she might be trying to sleep through the night now and then but needs a little help. my beautiful daughter she is always full of smiles!! she wakes in the early hours and wants to just smile and play even on an empty tummy. soo adorable!!

Well, trust. It was Randall's turn to get up during the night, I even expressed a feed so I wouldn't need to wake, and guess who decided to sleep through the night? :p

From 8:45 til about 6:20 or so...not that I'm complaining! Though I was looking fwd (in a mean way) to dh groaning about having to get up and me going 'well I do this every night darling :)
Makes sense after yesterday when he was wide awake pretty much all day though.

Had our beloved needles today. I will never take my kids back to my doctor to get them again. Wilhelm was first and he was so good. Didn't even cry or anything. Just said ouch after they were done. But my doctor likes to put the whole silver bit of the needle into the body and you know how long they are dont you. Imagine that going into your babies leg. Vyolett screamed down the surgury and bleed heaps. I was crying in the car it was so bad. thank god I had put a dark brown pair of tights on her today and that Jed was there. I am really lucky with my man. He takes care of us, especially me. I suppose its because I did everything with the boys cause of his post natal and this time he hasn't got it and im the slobberying mess! Any how my gorgeous girl has slept since we got home at 10.30 am and only woke at 3pm for a feed, play and cuddle then she was back of to sleep. I weighed myself at the doc's and Ive put on 4 kg. $HIT! Ive been eating like a horse all week and being a snappy cow. then I went to the loo and bingo i got my period. BIG HAPPY DANCE!@!!!! so i took my pill straight away and stuffed up Jed's plans for tonight (HAHAHAHAHAHA) So quiet obviously the 4kg ive put on is my period weight. I always put on about 5kg. Thank god, scared my butt is going to have wide load sign on back again.
Suppose I better go and peel some spuds and put the vegies on. Made pumpkin soup so Nikolaus will want that.

Dinner was lovely the kids behaved them selves.Ruby never does for me.Always crying if not sleeping and has been feeding 3hrly.
Anyway i had prawns and balmain bugs(fried) in a sweet chilli sauce and cucumber salad and linden valley fillet of pork with fresh ****ake mushroom and some homemade hashbrown thing? It was quite filling for alacarte. Aaron had beef fillet and pancetta wontons and smoked chicken stuffed with boccochini and stuffed tomato/capsicum.
Ruby had another choke episode this morning.I could smell the vomit/bile this time so i will have to mention at paeds appointment in nov.
Apart from doing 500 loads of washing,pasifying a crying ruby and waiting for hubby to get home to do shopping.No food.And the shops will be shut in an hr!!

sitting here by myself at the moment, the kids are wathching a movie, kangaroo jack, which i reckon is pretty stupid, hubby just went to bed, thankgod, he has been drinking all day so im glad the blubbering mess is finally in bed.:mad:

had a laugh today, i was so pi**ed that craig would not offer to look after caitlyn:angry: , so i could catch up with some sleep, so i just handed her to jessica my 13 year old, to look after her so i could sleep, well aparently bubs was asleep in 10minutes, so jess just shot through down the road, telling craig shes asleep, so caitlyn only lasted 5 minutes after jess left, so craig was left with a very unsettled baby, by the time i woke up(3 hours later) poor craig looked that stressed and apparently caityn was screaming most of the time........i must admit........i had a chuckle under my breath......and thought im glad he finally realised what i go through most days......:p

Can someone please give me more hours in the day!!
Ruby has cried on and off all day and she had a choaking episode this morning from vomit.I could smell the acidity and now i noticed she has a horse throat.Hope its from crying and not getting sick. Feeding 3 hrly and sometimes thats pushing it and wants it earlier.
Ruby doesnt smell so much anymore either now that the formulas changed.MAZ how is vyoletts farts? Do they smell?
Im sorry for lack of personals but i just dont have the time to spread myself around.Hopefully ruby will settle in the next couple of days and i can get more me time.

Sending big hugs to you Caddie... it's pretty scary when they do the choking on vomit thing. Xander has gotton a hoarse throat before from crying before, it's such a pitiful sound when it happens.. I sure hope she's not getting sick, you really sound like you have enough on your plate right now - if you ever feel like a chat, you are welcome to invite yourself over for coffee (or I could come visit you/meet in the middle). Glad to hear that you had a lovely birthday though!

Maz - That Doctor sounds terrible! Poor little Vy (and poor you for having to watch your little girl in pain). I hope she hasn't gotten too unsettled from the needles, but at least you have a wonderful supportive DH that will help out if need be.

Chrissy - Good on you for leaving bubba for a bit of a break! I ducked out to the shops this evening and left bub behind with DH as he was asleep... LOL... Xander woke about 2mins after I left and screamed the whole time I was gone. My poor hubby looked shattered when I got back 20 minutes later! I agree, it does them good to know what we go through on a daily basis. I swear they think we just sit around gooing and gaaing at our bubbas all day.

Adele - YAY! to getting ADSL... I don't think I could ever go back to dial-up again. Bet you are loving the extra speed.

Xander giggled for the first time today... and guess what it was at? his own farting noise when I took off his nappy! he is such a BOY! LOL. The little grot.

I've taken to putting him to bed at 9pm every night, so far it really seems to be working and he is waking so much happier. Sometimes he lies awake for a while, but never cries so it can't be a bad thing. He's a little chatty/grunty/grizzly tonight tho... I think it is because it is quite a warm night here in Perth.

Actually, question for you girls... obviously I don't want him to overheat at night, but it's still not hot enough for a/c so what are you girls putting them to bed in? I've got him in a short sleeve body suit and swaddled in muslin (no blankets or sheets). I hope he'll be warm enough for the night? I guess being a little cooler is better than being too hot.

Guess I better put myself off to bed. It's such a gorgeous night outside tho.

i do that with riley and half way through the night if u start to fel cold just put a thin blanket on him as he might be feeling cold as well.

morning girls,
I am going shopping today to buy different teats from what has been recommended and we will see how we go. Last night I tried her with a DrBrown bottle, it was free at the expo, still no good, just chewed on it. She just needs to know to suck! She just loves mummies boobies too much. Df said if this is the biggest prob we have with her we are pretty lucky. True, but easy for him to say cause he gets a night out once a week while I'm tied to her!

Anna**- Can't help much with weather its wintery like here in Melb. LOL at Xander giggle, he starting at young age laughing at his farts, my Df still thinks his farts are funny only cause he knows they annoy me, now he tries to blame them on the baby.

caddie- i hope you have a better day today although with daylight savings you will lose an hour of your day.(Do you get daylight savings in Perth?) Poor little Ruby its horrible when they choke and the acid prolly burnt her throat a little bit.

chrissy- LOL Chrissy I love it when that happens, otherwise they think our job is easy and this shuts them up!

Thanks for all your thoughts on my little princess. She's been really good and i cant believe how much she's been sleeping (thank the lord). 5pm to midnight then back to sleep after a bottle until 4.30am. She's back to sleep again now. I need it cause its starting to stress me out, all her screaming and the boys playing up.
Chrissy - PMSL at Craig's 'episode'. All I can say is, Craig honey, pay backs are a b'artch! Good on you for getting some sleep in mate.
Caddie - Gald to hear you had a good time out. I cant believe Ruby has been chokcing again. God woman you must be so stressed. Oh what formula have you got her on? Ive noticed that Vy's farts are horrible and paying $22 a tin of formula is a bit much but I suppose as long as it helps her. Mum and dad said that Vy looks like me when I was a baby...my poor little girl is so f@rked then when she's older....PMSL

Vy sleeps in a sleeping bag thingo some nights or just in an all in one cause she sleeps under her sheets and donna. She hated being wrapped up and to closed in. No more bassinet :( . I should never have bought the thing. She's been sleeping so much better since we put her in the cot.

Gotta say Im not overly excited any more about having my period back. Im a moody ***** and ive been ripping everyone's head off then crying 10 mins later. Please, someone just shoot me.....

Maz - You are a funny chicky! Your posts always make me giggle... so glad to hear that Vy wasn't too norty after her jabs. Xander hated the bassinet when he hit about 7 weeks... he likes to stretch out and he was already kicking the end of it. He's slept heaps better since he has been in his own room in his own cot (and so have I!)

Shell - How did you go with new teats? I also found that 'teasing' Xander with the bottle teat made him open his mouth properly, and also aiming the teat towards the roof of his mouth instead of straight at his throat helped too? Might be worth a go if you haven't tried it yet?

Adele - Wanna wash my car? I still haven't had the chance as just as I get around to it, bub decides he really needs my attention (again)

We haven't had another giggle again from Xander, but he has now starting clicking (like the sound of a horse trotting) his tongue and obviously finds it very amusing as he gets the biggest smile when he does manages to make the sound.

that is so cute anna.... the giggling and the clicking! it was horrible weather here yesterday, wasn't it. i went to garden city trying to escape the humidity and it was worse! ainsleigh would not settle in her pram (i think she was too hot even though she was only in a light dress) and i ended up having a big cry! feel better for it tho :)
i put ainseligh in a long sleeved bodysuit and muslin wrap and she is a hot bod. i sometimes put her in short sleeves with muslin and a cotton blanket, and she sleeps straight through.

ainsleigh and i are going to the docs tmw, her for her 8 week jabs, me for whooping cough jab at drs recommendation before trying to conceive again (don't worry, i have plenty of time :D) and a pap smear (YUK). hope my dr is gentler than yours maz, i am sure she will be...

ainseligh was the same anna, at 7 weeks she was kicking the bassinet and sleeps straight through now in her big girls cot. her pop (my dad) has been bragging to everyone about how is GD is so advanced she is in a big cot! got to love 'em!

Anna**- thanks for the advice Anna, I tried firstly squirting bit in her mouth so she opens up properly but as soon as she sees its not booby she gets upset and just won't suck will just bite on it or try to push it out with her tounge. I prolly won't get to the shops til tomor now to get new ones, so I'll let you know how we go. Might just take a bit of persistance. I just got a birthday dinner to go to on 8th Nov so she needs to be good by then.

rikki- good luck with all the jabs tommor. Hope the weather is better for you today. I am dreading summer, i can never cope with the heat and the couple hot days we've had here I can see Ashleigh isn't too impressed either. Plus not having air con she will want to be up all night on warm nights to get booby cause she'll be all thirsty.

OMG it is so hot.....................

anyone else have things they never thought they would do and are now doing, I never thought I would co-sleep, last night Jack went down at 9.30pm he had feed at 7pm and then another 60ml at 8pm piggy boy LOL, he didn't wake till 1.30am :eek: he then had normal 120ml feed, and refused to go to sleep :( so after cuddling him etc, I realised he was still hungry hungry so gave another 60ml at 2.30am he gulped that down at 3am was still wingy so Jase said he would get up :love: he stayed up till after 4am with him, he was still grizzling at 4.30am which would be normal feed time, so fed him, gulped it down, gave him a drink of H2O at 5am he was thirsty, finally had to go to bed, so in he came and we all slept till 8.30am Jack woke properly at 9am, Jase said he can't wait till Jack is in big bed, so he can go sleep there and Jack and I can have our bed LOL

so all morning he wanted to be cuddled etc, we had washed his bassinet cover this morning so when he wanted to go down for sleep at 12.30pm it was still wet and cot is full of toys LOL, so again had big nap on mum and dad's bed, Jack and I slept till 3pm when I got up, Jase fixed bassinet up and we transferred jack into it, didn't care LOL

but well co-sleeping works when he is grumbly and wans cuddles, mind you I wake up so stiff from not moving

Harriet is asleep in her rocker and wasting the batteries because she won't sleep in it unless the vibrate is on. I still have low supply and have to suplement with formula which is a bit depressing but i am perservering. I am going to try to get into a day stay breast feeding clinic to see if I can get over the problems but i MIGHT JUST HAVE TOcome to terms withtthe fact that I wont be able to exclusively breast feed.

Belle I hope that you are feeling better. I have been really down too. I really think the PCOS hormones combined witht he end of the preg hormones are a bad match. Yesterday I went for a walk in the middle of a hail storm because I just had to clear my head as I was getting really frustrated with all the feeding problems we have been having. Daily tears seem quite normal now. Just make sure you get all of the help you need.

Harriet is gorgeous in her little baby gap hoodie today and is very sleepy after a longwalk in the fresh air so I 88am going to try to catch up on some sleep.

Hi Ladies!

Anyone elses Bubs have the classic text book '6 week growth spurt' symptoms like Paige?

*constant wanting to feed (to therefore build up my milk supply for her growth)

* fleeting emotions - happy one minute - next minute screaming the house down for 2 seconds, then fast asleep the next.

* catnapping during the day.

* The sudden finding of her vocal chords - deciding to have a real wind down cry instead of a little grizzle - again the cry only lasting seconds. I think Baby Love mentions that the 6th week is the 'peak crying period' and considering Paige has never actually cried before now...this might be her 'peaking'...LOL

I have had an exhausting last 2 days with Paige's constant boobie attachment and catnapping - but on the plus side she has been sleeping well at night because she is getting most of her milk in the daytime.

Well I am very proud of myself...today Paige and I got up and showered/fed and dressed and took off to the Plaza for a girly shopping trip. I ended up buying her 2 reversable hats from Pumpkin Patch - I could go crazy in that shop, but decided to wait till she was a little bigger so she would get more wear out of the clothes. I am very proud of myself as it was a hurdle I really wanted to get over.
Funny thing is...it's kinda like my anxiety has gone...as quick as it reappeared last year it has gone again. It's funny...I think my focus is now on Paige and not analysing myself. Plus, my anxiety came back due to stress - the whole estrangement from Heath's mum, but now that that has been resolved, its like my anxiety disorder has resolved along with it. Our bodys and minds are funny things hey. I am also glad my biggest fear of PND didn't eventuate either...I think that had more to do with wonderful support, and me being so aware of making sure i used relaxation techniques etc when feeling things getting on top of me.
I had another big cry yesterday, I was so tired and having a good blubber makes me feel so much better...it releases SO much stress I cannot tell you. What tipped me over was the fact that it seams like everytime I am feeding Paige, Heath leaves the room to go watch telly, or jump on the pooter, and I feel really lonely. Mum used to sit and chat with me..and even get up at 3am to come see how I was and keep me company...it made me feel human. But when you spend most of the day alone with your baby, then your hubby leaves you alone...it does your head in. So once I expressed how him doing that upsets me, he apologiesed and agreed it wasnt a nice thing for him to do..he was however oblivious to the fatc he did it thow. He stayed up last night to chat with me when I woke to feed Paige at 12am. Seeing he is back at work tomorrow I understand that he cant do it every night.
Yesterday I left Heath alone for 20min to duck tot he shops...she chose to SCREAM the house down so poor Heath panicked a littled as I didnt have my phone on me...poor hubby...it scared him a little as he tried eveything to get her to stop crying...and of course she stopped 2 seconds before I walked in the door.


I am just going to say a HUGE HELLO to everyone.

You all know I am CRAP ay personals now....but I really DO read eveyone's posts and enjoy reading what you guys have to say.

I let Paige co-sleep when she wakes around 3-4am. I just pop her in the crook of my arm and we snuggle...I do move all pillows and dooner etc away and just throw her cellular blanket over my arms...we also LOVE to snooze together during the day on the couch.
