How long till you... Did a number 2... ???

Caution: a little TMI!
I had my daughter 4 days ago! :) My second child but first labour and vaginal birth! I was in labour for 15 hours and 3 whole hours of that was stage 2 labour so I was pushing for 3 hours... So all my muscles were majorly overworked down there for a long period of time. My bladder muscles are still a bit weak but I have been passing urine fine (except for the stinging part). However... I haven't done a number 2 yet!? I haven't felt the need until this morning- day 4, or maybe a little lastnight, but nothing seems to be happening and I'm abit scared to go sit on the toilet and push while everything isn't really back to normal yet (if that even happens lol) . I've been eating but I'm avoiding too much food coz other than breastfeeding every hour I'm not quite sure where it's all going..... So question: has this happened to anyone else and how long did it take???
My partner is on his way to the chemist to get coloxyl tabs as we speak :) but they said the tablets won't work suddenly so maybe in the morning? :crossfingers:

I think it took about 4 days after my VBA2C.

I pushed for almost four hours and then had a forceps delivery with how-ever-many stitches were put in (didn't ask!!) I did no 2 on about day 4, and it wasn't painful at all. I didn't push, just let things happen and all was okay. In the end, I was more scared of wiping than actually doing it!!!!! I was still in hospital at that stage, and the nurses weren't worried that I hadn't been to that point.

4 days.
Get yourself some Fybrogel, mix it with the WARM water, and you will be on the loo (in a good way!! lol) within a couple of hours I guarantee it ;)

Try to keep things nice and soft with plenty of fibre & fluids - you want to make it as easy as possible.
I think it took me a few days also (after forceps & episiotomy) and probably a week or so before things settled back to 'normal'

the physio at the hospital i had my girls in told me that when i felt i need to go just go. She understands i was scared but said maybe :tmi: "the longer you leave your number 2 waiting the harder it gets best to go as soon as you feel the you may need to" Also the whole keep your knees higher than your pelvis etc. Good luck i know i was TERRIFIED but to be honest the sting of weeing hurt more

Day 2..I was freaked out as i had stitches but i followed the instructions lol of how to sit properly and i did it LOL with DF standing there making sure i was ok hahahhahahahah

OH gosh, i was terrified of doing it, i just could bring myself to sit on the toilet, i was soooooo constipated before i had DD and it didnt change suddenly after, DH went and got all sorts of stuff to help. in the end i think it was day 5 or 6. drink lots of water and down those coloxyl !! good luck :)

I think it was day 5 or 6 for me. I didn't feel the need until then, but a home visiting midwife gave me some fybrogel to soften and speed things up a bit. If you're worried about pushing, fold some loo paper over your hand and use your hand to gently apply some counter pressure. Also, if you use coloxyl or fybrogel or anything, make sure you drink loads of water, especially since you are breastfeeding. I didn't drink enough and ended up badly dehydrated the next day.

My muscles were so tired from pushing after my 36 hour labour that I had no control over what let go when I went to do my first wee, so wee, poo - the lot just flowed. (Ewwww)

Day 2 cos I felt the need, but the gave me something to help soften it... Just because I'd had so forceps delivery after failed vac, and stitches

I went the same day my boys were born, I had to ask for the catheter to be removed because I couldn't go with it in :lol: But they were both VB's with DS1 I had some grazing and I had nothing with DS2, fairly easy births (pity I can't say that about the labours :rolleyes: )

Thanks everyone! Good to know I'm not the only one who took forever... I went this morning finally :) So day 5 for me! I had 1 coloxyl tab lastnight before bed. Luckily I didn't need stitches & I'm only a bit grazed, & it wasn't hard from all the fruit I have been eating and taking lots of fluids! Just takes a while to get things working again I guess :)

I was in hosp (hosp and mbu = hosp) for 6 weeks post birth and I didn't go for at least 3 or 4 of those...and that was with twice daily sorbitol and coloxyl (sp)...I'd had an episiotomy though and a PPH so was also being pumped full of iron tablets, which makes it worse. Was too scared to poo becuase of the stitches!

During 1st pregnancy, my record was 4.5 weeks...this pregnancy, 4 weeks.

It feels much worse after birth though...use lots of nice, soft, wet babywipes for afterwards!

for me it was 4 days with DD1 and same day with DD2 because i didnt have the fears i did first time

I think it was about 2-3 hours after! I went to pee and needed to so i did. It wasnt at all pleasant i was crying while doing it only because when i was pushing i tore my bum (sorry TMI) and it had to be stitched. It was painful for weeks.

But i had to have done one before i was discharged. But my mum told me beforehand to lie and say i did if i hadnt lol
