Premmie Mums
Hi Girls,
There seem to have been quite a few premmie bubs born to BB mums over the past few months. How are all your precious bubs doing? And how are all the new mums going?
And how are all the "older" bubs and their mums going? Tiff, Carrie, Gwen, Kirsty, Louise...how are all of you and your gorgeous little ones?
-
hi Bec
well Maria got bronchiolitis at Easter, but is getting better, it was a scary time hearing her breathe so wheezy. Now I just have to convince her that she need to drink and eat. She is teething again as well which dosn't help.
-
Hey Bec I'm still here too, just a little shell-shocked over recent events so been lying a little lower than normal.
All is good here, James will be 4 soon (another 4mths) & I can't believe it. I look at him now all grown up & wonder if he ever really was so tiny!! What started out as buying "000000" that still didn't really fit is now buying size 4 & wondering how his legs are going to fit into something that looks so long!! But fit they do with only one roll up atm.
How is your gorgeous boy, Joshua going? How are things with you? Hope that all is well with all.
-
Hi Bec!
This is a fab idea! (cheeky girl)!!! :p
Noah and Ivy had their monthly check today.
GULP, my little buddha weighed in at 6.8kgs!!!!! OMG, he doesn't look prem anymore!! hehe  We have decided to slowly wean him OFF the thickened formula and put him on regular stuff. Fingers crossed he doesn't start up with the reflux again.
Little Ivy weighed in at 5.2kg but has lengthened by 5cm! So she is long and skinny and STILL looks like a prem but a very cute prem.
We are going in a study through the NICU to see if some medication can decrease the chance of RSV (bronchiolitis) in prem babies, so that will be interesting in coming weeks. All my kids had to be hospitalised because of that dreadful virus, so if I can avoid it, I will. It will be weird stepping back into the NICU after so long.
I put a couple of new piccies up on their site too.
-
Hi Bec, how are you doing?
Kyla's going really well....doing lots of growing, learning and generally just being very cute!! Josh is getting big - I love the photo in the swing.
Tiff - Glad to hear that the appointment went well. Hopefully there will be no problems going onto the normal formula. Love the piccies, Noah looks very cheeky and Ivy just looks beautiful. The study sounds interesting...wha do you actually have to do?
Kyla was in a prem study through the Austin hospital where a lady visited weekly and helped me learn how to care for Kyla whilst attempting to keep her anxiety levels down, at the end they did a brain scan. They purported that this intervention assisted increased brain development in prems. We are now in a study that goes til she is one. They visit monthly and track milestones and development...again another brain scan will be done at the end (and we also get piccies of it!)
Kirsty- WOW nearly 4. I's amazing how quickly they develop and grow. I remember thinking when Kyla was born how much I couldn' wait til she was term.
Louise-Sorry to hear Maria isn't well - the poor little cherub! I hope that those toothy pegs come through quickly and stop bothering her.
-
Hey Girls,
How scary for you, Louise. I'm glad to hear that Maria is getting better now. I hope she gets her appetite back soon too.
Kirsty, totally understandable that you feel like lying low atm. I'm glad to hear from you though - you have been in my thoughts so often lately. It must be amazing to see your little man growing up so much. It's encouraging for me, knowing that our boys were born at the same gestation.
Tiff, wow at your little (or not so little) guy! His face has really filled out, hasn't it? WTG Noah! Fingers crossed the formula change goes smoothly. Sounds like Ivy is a lovely petite little lady. She has such a beautiful little face. How is she going with her feeding? I'll be interested to hear how the study goes too...
Carrie, I'm doing well thanks. The study that Kyla is a part of sounds really interesting. How is she going with her milestones? I love all the new pics on her website. The kangaroo cuddle photo is simply amazing! She has come such a long way! And I must say, you also have a beautiful little lady there!
Josh is doing well. He is 6 months corrected now. I haven't had him weighed for a little while, but I can tell he is putting on weight because he is growing out of all his clothes! I went shopping and bought some outfits for winter a few weeks ago and he fits into all of them already. And I *think* he might be learning to say his first word.....Mum!! :D He's going through a bit of a squealy stage atm. I don't know if there's a tooth on the way and he's uncomfortable, or if he just likes the sound of his own voice. Either way, I hope it ends soon!
-
Hey Bec,
Wow - his first word?
Kyla also found that she could do his huge high pitched squeal and now does it all the time! It could break glass - and made a boy at babyroo cry..hehehe.
At the last appointment Kyla was ahead with her milestones, the next appointment is in a week or two and it wouldn't surprise me if she was a bit behind. Other babys in my MG are playing with their feet alot, but kyla doesn't seem to be that interested in them...Oh well, we'll see.
-
Hi Ladies, i hope you don't mind if i join in?
Ronan was born at 27wks+3 days and is now 32wks+2 days and is going strong.. He has been on CPAP for 13 days now and whilst he is still up & down it's because of his PDA other than that he now weighs 2070 grams, all his tests so far have come back perfect (no brain bleeds or no signs of ROP), he is on 24mls every 2hrs and has been in an open cot for the past 5 days.. :D
I have to say it is very interesting reading about all of your precious children and to learn how well they are growing! ;)
-
Hi Rac,
It's great to hear from you! So glad to hear that Ronan is doing well and congratulations on progressing to the open cot! I remember how excited I was when Kyla was able to go into the open cot - it was so much nicer and easier to touch her.
That's great that all of the tests have come back clear - a big relief I bet.
How are you going with all the to-ing and fro-ing from hospital?
-
Hi Carrie.. :D
Yeh no problems.. I was back at work 2 weeks after he was born and got into a nice routine.. I work 5hrs a day, come home and express, make dinner, go visit Ronan and then come home and relax for a few hrs..
We have been doing that for almost 6wks now and it works well.. ;)
I have to say the testing of the eyes was my biggest fear! DH has been a diabetic for 26yrs and is now blind in the left eye due to retinal detachment so i was praying that Ronan didn't have any signs of ROP.. :D
I just read about your birthing story with Kyla and i have to say it sounds similar to mine ie: bleeding but i only had a 3hr labour so my heart really goes out to you.. *hugs*
-
Hello Everyone,
Thought I would join this group.
My son Nixon is 1 week old today and born 6 1/2 weeks premmie.
So far he has made so many milestones such as:
DAY 3
Got first cuddle! most amazing experience!
Catheter taken out
DAY 4
Taken tube out of his lungs and started breating on his own
Taken out of humidi-crib to open cot
Moved from NICU to Special Care
Started Feeding 3ml every 2hrs
Monitors for abnormal brain activity taken off
DAY 5
Back in humidi crib for photo therapy
DAY 6
Finished anti-biotics and drip taken out of his hand
DAY 7
Up to 50ml every 3hrs
I came home from Hospital on Saturday which you would all know how hard that is not to be taking your baby home with you. But he is in the best possible care and I am just amazed at what they can do for our baby's they are truley life savers
-
Carrie, yep, his first word - I'm pretty excited! The first time he said it, I thought it was a fluke. I was in the kitchen at my mum's over Easter and I was making up a bottle. Josh was with my mum and sister in the lounge room. He was actually having a cry because he was hungry and it came out as a wail. We all had a bit of a giggle and said, hey that sounded like he said "mum". But then he did it again a bit later and he has been saying it ever since. It is so cute. Sorry, I'm a bit of a proud mummy!
Milestones can just be so variable, can't they? I think Josh has been on target for his corrected age for a lot of things and some others, he's probably a bit behind. He isn't sitting up yet. That's the one I'm hoping for next. Just on the playing with the feet...Josh has only just become interested in his feet in the last month. He had no interest in them at all and then one day he realised he could stick his toes in his mouth and it became his favourite pasttime!
Rac & Nickers, Hi! Great to see you both posting in here. Just to tell you a little bit about us...my son Joshua was born @ 32+4 in August last year. He spent 4 weeks in hospital. He's now a few days off 8 months old and is just over 6 months corrected and he is going really well.
Rac, it sounds like Ronan is doing so well! When Josh was born at 32+4 he was 1796g, so Ronan is going great guns with his weight gain. It sounds like you've got a good routine going. Will you get to have some time off work when Ronan comes home?
Nickers, It is really hard not taking your baby home with you, isn't it? It does sound like Nixon is progressing really well though. Every little step or improvement is exciting. Each tube coming out and monitor coming off is a big thing! And 50ml feeds is great!
I would love to hear more updates on both your little men when you get the chance. :)
-
Hi everyone - I have to say, it's great having a little chat thread going, especially for those who have just had their babys...I know I would have loved to chat to other premmie mums when I first got out of hospital. Speaking of which....
Nick - Congratulations on the birth of Nixon. It's awful having to leave them at hospital isn't it? Although you do know it's the best place for them. And wow at his feeding! 50 mls is fantastic, it sounds as though he's powering along! What hospital is he in?
Bec- I don't blame you one little bit for being proud, it must be great to hear "mum" come from your little one....however I sure that in a year or so we'll all be complaining about the amount of mums coming from them LOL.
Rac-It sounds as though you're very organised! That's great that there are no signs of the ROP also.
Wow at getting through my birth story- it was a bit long know! But good to get it down all the same. I'll have to have a good look through your site - is your story on there?
Tiff, Kirsty and Kitten - hope you are all doing well.
-
YaY Nickers glad to see you here!! \:D/
That is just such fantastic news about Nixon, WOW milestones galore!! \:D/
Nixon is about 5wks ahead of Ronan so i can't wait until he is at the same stage, you must be so so proud! :D
Bec WoW first word? that is awesome news and brings hope to us new premmie mums.. :D
Carrie There is a short story on the front of Ronan's website but i should write a more detailed one in the birth stories section..
We are going to see Ronan soon but we are just waiting for my DH's aunt to come over.. I changed his nappy last night and cleaned his eyes etc and it is so nice to be envolved in his care.. I changed his first nappy when he was 3 days old and it's amazing to know he is in Huggies newborn nappies already! \:D/
Nic make sure you keep coming back and give us updates!
-
Im back for an update!
This mornings visit we were told he should be moved further down the line in the next 24hrs! for anyone not familiar with Mercy (and not sure how other hosp works) they start at one end of the room and make their way down the yellow brick rd around the cnr before going home!
When Nixon first entered SCU a few days ago he jumped half way down.
This afternoons visit he had moved down the line again making him 3/4 down the yellow brick rd!( just what i call it)
So now he has no moniotrs or tubes other then his feeding tube which we have stared working on. i have a lactation consultant meeting me tomorrow to try and help but tonight he gave a few sucks here and there which was great! but then he fell aslepp!
We also gave him his first bath!! how good that was to wash his hair, its so soft & smells so nice now. he can have a bath every 2-3days.
Im still to update Nixons website, but i did spend half the day downloading all the pics and re sizing them so one step closer to getting it done then you can see his pics and progress!
Rac- it will be no time before Ronan gets to this stage, its amazing how much he has already done since he was 27weeks! You sound very organised with work & going to hosp thats one thing i said to DH we need to really get into a pattern and one of us be there for as many feeds as possible.
at the moment i can not drive (c-section) which is frustrating but another week we will be sorted. MIL is coming from Sydney (all our fam are in syd) tomorrow so she will take me to and from the hospital.
Bec- First word hey! wow how amazing! and even better his first word was mum!!!
-
Hi guys - Sorry, I haven't been on all week as Kyla's been sick and VERY irritable which has not been fun at all. I'm hoping that she's on the up now though!
Nick - Things sound like they're going well. How did the lactation consultation go? IKWYM re: the falling asleep! That was Kyla's major problem and very frustrating, I suppose that it's hard work for them though.
-
Carrie, sorry to hear that Kyla has been sick. Fingers crossed that she and you feel better soon.
Ivy is unwell too, crying and vomiting heaps. Don't know if it's reflux or gastro...there's nothing coming out the other end... I'm so over sick kids.
I'm looking forward to the end of school holidays.
-
Poor little Ivy... I think gastro has been going around a bit lately. One of the mums and bubs in my MG had it. Hope she's feeling better soon, it's awful when your bubs is sick and you can't do anything to make it go away!
-
Carrie & Tiggy sorry to here your girls are not well at the moment, i think i would just feel helpless that I was unable to make them feel better... although gettiung sick is part of life and it does make us stronger it would still be hard.
Nixon is going well, tomorrow he is being moved to another hosp so hoping it all goes well. i was unsure to begin with but ive looked at this other hosp, its a bit cloer for us from home and he really doesnt need to be at the Mercy any more, i also know they are chock a block full and need as many beds as possible, i'd feel terrible for depriving another sick bub a bed because i was too ignorant to move him.
Another one of our June buddies might have her bub soon, Bellasmum waters broke last night i spoke to her DH just a short time ago and she hasnt had him yet but could any time. they were able to stop the contractions though, i think she is 32.1weeks This will be the 3rd premmie boy for Junies....
-
Well Maria is finally getting better , hope your babies never get Broncholitis, She still wheezes a bit but I am keeping her very warm. She has 2 teeth now and has a new word, dada, so when she cries it is mummmmie, and dad when she is happy.
We went to the baby expo yesterday and it was fun.
-
Carrie & Tiff, I hope your girls are feeling better. Poor little things. (Poor Mums too!)
Louise, good to hear that Maria is getting better. We went to the expo too - I picked up lots of samples!
Nickers, it's so great to hear how well Nixon is doing. Isn't it great when all the monitors are gone? It's the best feeling when the feeding tube comes out for good too. Josh used to pull his out all the time, so it was such a relief when he no longer needed it. How are things going with the breastfeeding? I hope the move to the new hospital goes well. I just had a look at your website. Your photos are just precious! :)
Rac, I just checked your site out too and read the latest update. Hooray for Ronan moving to Bay 6! Clever little munchkin! How is he going today? Your photos are beautiful too! :) The pics of your DH holding Ronan's milk (in the syringe) brought back memories.
Well, I'm not exactly sure what is going on with my little guy atm. He hasn't been himself for the last few days. The only thing I can come up with is that he is teething as he is showing a few signs - irritability, little interest in feeds, waking through the night and not wanting to go back to sleep. No sign of a tooth yet though - so I hope this isn't going to go on until one shows up!
On a brighter note, I had him weighed yesterday and he is now 8.5kg - over 4 times his birth weight!
ETA: I meant to mention before that I hope all is going ok for bellasmum. I remember reading her posts in this forum in the past about her fears that her bub would be premmie. Hang in there bellasmum!
-
Becc - Irritability, waking in the night - that sounds like Maria for the last couple of nights and I definitely think it is more teeth (already have 2 bottom teeth). Hope Josh has a better night tonight, Maria still isn't asleep and nothing is working tonight.
-
Hey guys,
Bec, I know the feeling, that's how Kyla has been with her cold - I've been thinking that it may be teeting also too - but like you, I can't see anything. That's great about his weight!!
Louise- So glad that Maria is getting better. I hope Kyla never gets it too!! It's awful when they're sick - especially if it's in the chest. How cute that she's saying mummy and daddy! Pity she doesn't do it the other way around tho! Kyla has started saying da da da - I tried to get her saying ma ma ma...but no luck!
NickI had a look at the photos you put up...Nixon is soo gorgeous!! What an absolute cutie - and you and Dad look very proud. Hope the hospital move goes well - it'll be great having him closer to home. Although Kyla was very lttle we had her moved to Knox after 2 weeks and then I spent all day every day with her!
Hey btw - I have friends who live in Diamond creek, it's actually not that far from us. So if you ever feel like getting together for a coffee when Nixon's home and settled, just let me know.
-
Carrie,
What are you doing up so late???
-
PMSL Tiff - What are YOU doing up so late..You've got TWINS!!
-
He he, it's the only time I can find for ME!!! LOLOLOL!!!!
I'll pay for it in a couple of hours when Ivy wakes up for a feed!
I am feeling a bit down about the whole BF thing tonight. I think I am going to start weaning Ivy tomorrow  boo hoo, my last baby, my last bf experience.
I am finding it really hard to deal with the fact that after Ivy and Noah, there will be no more babies.
Ivy is so unsettled though and her refluxy vomiting is getting worse. I could try to medicate her, I suppose. Oh I hate mother guilt, it's so hard to deal with.
Maybe we should both go to bed!
-
Hmmm, yes, I'm going to bed soon! Also, things never seem quite as bad in the morning.
I understand how you feel with the BF. When I had to put Kyla to the bottle it was one of the hardest decisions that I've had to make...it is very emotional.
Perhaps you could speak to your pead about the medication options for reflux if you do continue BF. However, if you would find it easier to bottle feed her, then you just need to go with what you feel is best for you and her. There are pros and cons for each I suppose. If it's just the reflux that is the issue then I'd definately look at medication options first - but if there are other reasons for switching..as I said, just go with what you feel is best and what YOU can cope with.
 hugs tho - I know it is a hard decision to make.
-
OMG, I'm still up! Definately going to bed...soon.
Did you go through the whole checking if she's breathing stage?
I am driving myself (and David) insane with it...
OOps, Dave just said I have to go to bed!
-
You guys are just SO funny!
Sorry I haven't jumped in here before. I only get on BB about once a week now that I'm back at work. Too many calls on my time!
For those of you who don't know, Alex (DS #1) was born at 34+6, 1.9 kilos, as I had p/e. We were really really lucky to have him home at 10 days weighing 2.02 kilos, fully breast fed, and going like the blazes. He's now nearly three, still very small for age, but extremely articulate and very active. He slept through from 10 weeks, until he started teething at 11 1/2 months. We were extremely lucky.
In the first 12 months, he was hospitalised a few times, for pneumonia (who gets pneumonia when it's 42oC outside??), concussion (poor mummy dropped him!) and gastro (had to be tube fed for 7 days because he couldn't afford to lose any weight).
When Alex was born, 000000 were too small. My grandma and her friends made me a heap of sox, hats and jackets from dolls' patterns! Got to love the granny network! Alex didn't grow into 00s until he was one, and now he's nearly three, he's only just growing into size 2 pants.
Anyway, that's my story.
Nickers, great to hear that Nixon is doing so well, he'll be home before you know it. The hospital time is so difficult, but it's for the best.
Tiff, IKWYM about getting up to check their breathing... I did it for AGES, and also KWYM about giving up the bf...
Carrie, best wishes with the way your little one is going, she seems to be getting along just fine.
Kitten, sorry to hear Maria had bronchiolitis, hope she gets better soon.
Bec, great to hear that Josh is trying to talk! You'll spend the next few years teaching him to talk, then a few after that telling him to "$hut up..."
Rac, wow at Ronan, he's doing so well.
Okay back to the kidlets..
-
Carrie- so where abouts do you live? I would most certainly love to catch up for a coffee sometime after Nixon is home!!
We moved to Melb 2.5yrs ago and i know NO ONE here with kids.... i will be looking at getting into a mothers group to hopefully there are some nice mums and bubs amongst the group.
Id love to meet ppl from BB though!
Nixons move went well. This hosp will be great i think, there is only 3 other bubs there atm as appose to 60 at Mercy! So will be a lot more personal and get to meet the other parents bubs and even the same staff!
i swear the 2.5 weeks i was going to Mercy i barely saw the same/midwives/docs/nurses.....
Did any of you feel a bit withdrawn from the pregnancy a short while after? I was just looking at some of my belly shots and thinking gee i miss that?? is that strange? I know a few weeks ago i was telling DH i was over it and wish it would hurry up! now it did i feel i was ripped off the last 7 weeks of my pg!!
Divvy thats gorgeous your grandma made special little outfits! Nixon is wearing 00000 some things fit and sme are a bit big.
How late were you guys up!!
-
Nickers, join up with us Victorian mums thread, we are forever having meets.
As Nickers said before I was hospitalised on Friday,my waters broke at 32 w. they stopped my contractions, but thats all they did. I have no idea how much fluid is left around bub, but should find out tomorrow.
Everytime he moves it hurts.
-
Jess - I've been thinking about you sweety! Do you know what happends now? Is there a certain amount of time that they will let you go - or could you go to the end? Sorry about my lack of knowledge.
Nick- I live in Mooroolbark - actually, DH was just telling me that it would take a bit longer than I thought to get there: he thinks about 30 to 40 mins, I was sure it was less....oops. But thats ok, I'd love to meet up with you anyway - just say the word, it's a nice drive! As Jess said, it'd be great to talk to you in the Vic thread also - and there are meet-ups too.
Re: the pregnancy thing - I found this REALLY hard. After IVF I was really looking forward o my pg and getting big. I had only just started to get that real pg look when Kyla came. I felt really cheated and missed having her so close. Especially when I had to leave her a the hospital. It look me a while to get over this grieving process...it sounds silly, but that's what it felt like.
Thats great that you'll get a bit more personal attention now - and the nurses will really get to know you're baby too which is great!
Divvy - Great to have you join us! Alex was a little one, Kyla was 1.4kg at only 28.6 wks! I's good to hear that he's doing well, but sounds as though he had a bit of a rough trot in the beginning.
You're lucky to have had some great g/mas knitting for you! Kyla had a prem outfit from earlybirds but even that was too big for a fair while - even the doll clothes were too big. Mum ended up sewing some little nighties etc - which we will keep so that we can remember just how little she was!
Tiff- I would be paranoid about the breathing thing - but I invested in an angelcare monitor which has a sensor mat under the mattress. It's sensative enough to pick up movement from breathing and will alarm if there is any cease in movement. I still use it - sounds paranoid I know - but it has given me great peace of mind!!
-
Nickers - I really missed being pregnant when I had Maria early (34+4), it was as if I had been cheated from completing a full pregnancy, a friend of mine is now 36 weeks and yes I know she is really big and wants her baby out now, I am a bit jealous because I never got to go through what she is going through, that being aid for my next I will prob be overdue.
-
Hey Girls,
Louise, I hope Maria had a better night last night. Josh went ok. He still woke up, but DH took him to the spare room and hopped into bed with him so I could get some sleep and apparently he went back off to sleep pretty easily. Still Mr Cranky Pants today though!
Divvy, great to "see" you! It's so nice to hear that Alex is doing so well. How is Ned going?
Jess, You've been in my thoughts too! I hope all goes well tomorrow. I'll be keeping an eye out for any news.
Tiff, how are you doing today? Did you get *any* sleep last night?!
Carrie, We still use the Angelcare sensor monitor too!
Nickers, Great to hear that Nixon's move went well. Joshua was transferred from the hospital he was born in too. He actually spent time in 3 hospitals! He went from the one he was born in to our local public hospital to our local private hospital. We loved it when he got to the private hospital - there were only 2 other babies in the SCN when he arrived (twins) and only a few staff members who were all lovely. It will be nice for you to have that more personal touch.
Nickers & Carrie, I wondered if I was the only one who felt that I had "missed out" on the end of my pregnancy. I was really looking forward to getting a nice big belly, finishing up at work, having some time at home to myself, having time to get everything ready for Josh and then anticipating his birth as his due date got near. This might sound a bit crazy, but when Josh was first born, I would see PG women on the street with huge bellies and I would feel a little envious. Logically, that seemed ridiculous to me as I had my baby with me safe and sound which was all I wanted, but I guess that in my heart I felt that I had missed something.
Anyway, I think I mentioned in a previous post that Josh was going through a squealy stage? Well, it's getting worse! We went to the Baby Expo on Friday and he squealed the whole way around it. And then, we went shopping today...I was really looking forward to a quiet afternoon just browsing in the shops. But...he wouldn't stop squealing! People were turning to look, he was squealing so loud! I felt like a spectacle and couldn't enjoy myself, so in the end I just grabbed the couple of things I needed and packed up and came home. Someone please tell me this won't go on too much longer!! [-o<
-
Louise, just missed you. Sounds like a few of us felt the same way, hey?
-
BTW Nickers and Rac, I don't know if you saw my post in the June Bellie Buddies thread, but I have a HEAP of 6 0s and 00000 from when Alex was little, that I've been waiting for someone I know to have a littlie so I can give them away.
One of the girls at the Shepparton hospital gave me a bundle of clothes that her little one (born at 23 weeks) never got to wear, as he wasn't allowed clothes, and asked me to pass them on when I'd finished with them.
So I'm happy to pass them on to you guys (or Jess from Euroa if you do actually have Patrick anytime soon) so please let me know if you want them.
Carrie and Nick, I'm in Balwyn, 35 mins from Mooroolbark and 35 mins from Diamond Creek (kinda the middle of the triangle if you know what I mean) so if you both want to come and have coffee/lunch/chat/whatever here, I'm more than happy to have you. I work Tuesday, Wednesday Thursday, so Mondays and Fridays are great (I also need to find time to fill in the days LOL!) Let me know.
It's great to see you too, Bec, and know that Joshie is doing so well. It's amazing how quickly they do catch up.
:grouphug: I think this thread is great!
-
Divvy- Thats so very nice of you. I would love to have a few things you have but don't want to be greedy and take everything. Nixon was quiet a good size for his age so i don't think it will take long for him to grow out of 00000.
Once Nixon is home and we are settled we should definatley pick a "in the middle" place to meet up!
So where is the Vic thread?
oh thank god im not the only person who had these withdrawals of pregnancy, i mean it seemed so silly to me seings i now have this gorgeous boy but at the same time i just feel i wasnt done yet being pregnant! So this feeling did it last with you guys for long? Im thinking once Nixon is home with me that will all be in the past but whilst im sitting here without a belly and without a baby its just not right
Ive heard of those things you pout under the latress or sheets how much are they?
-
Divvy, how lovely of you!
I'm so jealous that all you girls get to meet up! I wish I didn't live so far away!
Nickers, the feeling did improve for me when Joshua came home. There will probably always be a small part of me that wishes I had got to experience everything, but it's not so important when I look at what I do have now. I think you are right though - in the early days it is made worse by the fact that your bump is gone, but you don't have a baby (at home) to show for it.
As for the sensor monitor...I can't remember exactly how much it cost but it was a bit more expensive than the regular sound only monitors. Over $100 from memory. Carrie, can you remember?

ummm...nope, I got mine on sale from babybunting. I've also seen them at target and kmart. So perhaps if they have a sale you could get one Nick- it's worth it. Also - the vic chat is in the 'local members discussion' chat area - just go to the VIC thread.
Bec - if you're ever in Melb we'll have to arrange to get together!
Divvy- I'd love to get together. Mon and Fri are good for me too, I know your having the double b'day soon which i'd love to come to. I just have to work out what we have on. I have a 30th this weekend and my sisters 30th the following weekend, which I have to find out the date of. I'll let you know.

I'd have to buy two of those monitors though, wouldn't I? Carrie - I tried the zantac for Ivy last night and she is alot more settled today. Hope it lasts because when I tried to give her a bottle yesterday, she flatly refused and screamed down the house.
Bec - sorry that Josh is squealing, it's just a phase, I'm sure. I remember not going out forever when I had the girls for fear of what others would think. To answer your question, no, not alot of sleep  Ivy woke up an hour after I signed off from BB! Serves me right, I guess.
Hi Divvy, nice to see you in here! How are you and your beautiful boys? Heard you were in the Hunter Valley a few weeks ago, that's where I live.
Nickers, I was glad whan my pregnancy was over but now I am going through this grief thing of never having another pregnancy or baby again. It's a horrible feeling, hard to describe and VERY hard for DH to understand!
Jess - thinking of you, hoping everything is ok and you get to meet your little man soon (but not too soon)
Kitten - how is Maria going today?
OHHH gotta go the little girl is crying again!
PS, Ivy and Noah were too small for any of the 000000 clothes, we dressed them in dolls clothes to start and then found a great online store in America and bought some outfits from there. It just helped to make them feel as if they were a little bit mine.
