Just jumping into the new thread.
Has that much time gone by already?
You lot talk too much! :p
The last week at work was a bit better. I'm very slowly getting on top of my classes and had a break through with my year 12 class - FINALLY!
Feeling erky at the moment as I had to do a two hour glucose tolerance test this morning... not fun!
DH seems to be settling well into the role of SAHD, but is starting to understand why I was always feeling so starved of adult contact - and he gets more than I did!
BW
just touching base - been a bit of a full on week this week and i've managed to once again stuff my wrist so i'm in a bit of pain. (oh, and i stuffed up both shoulders - one WITH the wrist, one BECAUSE of the wrist - overcompensating yada yada yada!). At least E is now mostly mobile so will come to me when she wants a drink or whatever. and DH has been home a fair amount to help me out.
still hating teething time - poor poppet is just miserable one minute, fine the next. it makes life very interesting!
must go - chocolate calling while the bubba sleeps in her bed and her daddy on the couch. lazy beggars!
Hi girls,
Sorry have been MIA
My DP had a foot reconstruction surgery on the 11th and we were desperately trying to get things done before then as he is now out of action for 6 weeks :wall: which has put alot of pressure on me, now have TWO babies to take care of, lol
Just wanted to pop in and say HI! And thank you for my birthday wishes. My day was very quiet, just watched movies on the couch all day :D Cant leave the house unless someone comes over to take care of DP and Trent as DP is on crutches so cant do much other than hold Trent while lying on the couch! DP took me out to dinner the week before and also bought me a GORGEOUS topaz and diamond ring for my b'day
Trent will be 4 months next week, how time has FLOWN! He is having his 4 month needles on Tuesday and then off to the MHCN for his check up on Thursday. The poor little thing has 4 teeth trying to come through so has been unsettled of late. The most I was getting out of him a night was 5 hrs, prior to this, he was sleeping 8/9 hrs! Although he surprised me last night and did 6 hrs straight, woke and I put the dummy in his mouth and slept a further 3 hours
Have been going to my mothersgroup which has been a godsend these last few weeks, a chance to get out of the house once a week! We went to the pool last week and Trent enjoyed it.
I started weight watchers too last week in hope of losing some weight so we can HOPEFULLY start trying for number 2 by maybe the middle of the year :D
BG - I know what you mean about the teething, lots of fun...NOT! Sorry to hear you've hurt yourself again. Take care of yourself
BW - Glad work was better for you this week and how funny about your DH! Unless they do what we do, they dont quite get it, lol I miss the adult contact too but I cant imagine leaving Trent for a whole day. I really dont want to but have to go back to work at some point soon.
Hello to Kelly, Murph, Grub, Smithy, Poppy, Green, Janie, Neptune, Marcellus and everyone else. Will try to keep in touch more often!
Take care all and enjoy your weekend :D
Cheers,
Tania

ive got a little video if you girls would like to see of my gorg girl
YouTube - DSCF4456.avi new blue bird bracelet.
hope you like it lol..
KellyD I think staying inside with loads of support (mums aunties etc) would be great for a month. I think what you do with Tara is so nice.
Smithy :D at the washing machine it never stops does it.
Grub we always figure things out before we go to sleep even if we agrea to disagrea but have a cuddle and a kiss. He's still going but is being alot more supporting and asking if he can take bubs in slig alot more. Just needed a poke me thinks I was at the child youth health clinic wed with a mum who's daughter was off feeding too, it's normal and they grow out of it was the sensis but she was so frustraighted. Hang in there.
Janie the walk idea is a good one, will try it while MIL is around. So gelous at reading about your trip. :D glad you had fun.
Briggsy's girl I hope your teething settles  enjoy chocolate
MissMagpie  glad you are going well and still around. Nice to have an update.
ATM well Linc is definatly sensitive to me eating dairy. I had yoghurt this mornign and OMG stinky farts all day and very distressed little man. I feel so bad but glad I know what it is, I think the AB didn't help either.
MIL is here and DH is getting ready to leave, I'm getting ok with it, not having any choice and I'm hoping that he get's loads done loads of rest and comes back with arms open to help me out.
Hi guys, just a quick one as A is on my lap
Lovely to hear all your updates as usual.
Green - that's a really posiotive step if you've identified somethign that can help, so feel good about it if you can! That sucks about your DH  Not great timing...
Glad to hear work is going better BW
You need to clone that man Janie!
Grub -try to relax about it if you can. Have you called the ABA ata ll? They helped me through similar problems
Hope your second baby is all better soon MissM
Oh, and A's run off....
Hi everyone else!
sorry, this will be a quicky as I typed a massive reply, even reading the previous thread for updates and it all got wiped somehow so I just can't do it all again.
BW - so glad work is settling a bit for you, makes life much easier huh?
BG - Sorry to hear about your injuries, why has that happened? You poor thing, hope things improve soon.
Murph - hope the packing is going well!
Grub - hope little Ash is settling with his feeding.
Hello to everyone, sorry again for lack of persies!
Adam a little cherub, but I've given the poor little boy my cold. I tried so hard not to give it to him, but I guess it was inevitable. Luckily it's not too bad, he's just a bit snotty. I set up the baby monitor for the first time because I got it my head that he could stop breathing. anyway, the little talking sounds coming form up there is just gorgeous. He sound slike he is proacticing his vowel sounds. AAAAAEEEEEEE, EEEEEEEE, OOOOOOOOO.
I'm taking my poor little dog to the orthopedic surgeon tomorrow! She will maybe have the op tomorrow depending on what he assesses.
Hello,
just jumping on the new thread. The move date has been brought forward and we have a house to go to ...yay! I started wondering if it wasnt your DFs house on KI Green, cos i didn't know he had one, then I got cranky at him for leaving you to work on the house while you are struggling. My real estate agent says the owner just wants to do some painting etc and i thought how funny it would be if it was his house we are renting. It's a big 4 bedroom, 5 carport! After living here in one bedroom, it's a bit extreme but it was slim pickings for renting with dogs. Gees, dogs are better than people. Must dash (albeit slowly, or the wee one will drop to the floor;))
BBL
long story, but dot points are that i broke my arm when i was a kid, tearing the cartiledge between the two bones at the time. surgery hasn't corrected it, so my wrist dislocates itself if pressure is put the wrong way (which can be something as big as me falling on it, or putting weight on it as i stand up, or as small as carrying E and her weight shifting, cuddling DH in bed and him moving my hand the wrong way) - anyhoot, i know it is a weak point, but i try to not keep it strapped all the time as it will weaken it further. i'm probably in need of more surgery on it to try and stabilise it again. this time, i did something stupid that popped my wrist and jarred my shoulder and possibly torn muscle through my shoulder/shoulderblade region (bloody red head temper!) - because that side of my body is really uncomfy, i was overcompensating and using the other side for everything and it has created pain in my right hand side as well. E being as big as she is now, carrying her weight on the same side all the time has made things nasty for me. she is also still being rather clingy with the teething gig and wonder weeking at the same time. it's been full on!
new mummy's - if you haven't already, see if you can get hold of a copy of the wonder weeks book - it is a fantastic resource - it explains so much of what goes on during those really fussy periods. it doesn't by any means FIX the fussy periods, but it helps so much to understand WHY they are doing it - and how to help them through it with appropriate activities. i am someone that gets very easily frustrated (hence the dodgy wrist incident this past week) but i am not only able to put that frustration aside when E is wonder weeking, i'm able to help her through it. understanding what is going on with her is a key driver for my own sanity lol
fourth tooth is on the brink. i almost went so far as to say it was through earlier - but it still feesl a wee bit spongy over the top of it - so i might make it official later lol. i now have my very own little vampire girl. all she wants for Easter is her two front teeth lol
Bg sounds like you are having a rotten time of it right now. I empathise with the arm thing... i had a bad break when i was a child and now have a arm full of damaged nerves and scar tissue attached to the bone.. ouchy! but nowhere near as nasty as what you are experiencing.
thanks for the wonder week advice. i'll keep an eye out. I think we are having one right now mind you! brh.
Murph - wow things seem to be moving very quickly! you must be so excited - bigger house! does that mean that jazzy isn't in the wardrobe anymore lol.
neptune - good luck with the dog's visit tomorrow. poor little thing. And how cute is Adam's chatting! lol. Ash did a similar thing this morn, he was sort of laughing (he isn't quite giggling just oooohhhhing a lot). They are so precious atm :)
lol marcellus - your post made me glad ash isn't moving very far from where i put him. hope you are well.
green - that's good he acutally listened. i reckon dh is better at listening thesedays. and hope it all goes smooth with the MIL. thanks so much for the encouragement love.
miss tania - So happy to hear from you. 4 months! are you sure? lol. and  for you for taking on such a full on job with your two babies at home and managing to start a diet as well! you are awesome lady :) Hope trent goes back to his "good boy'' sleep pattern.
Hi Smithy, Lenny, Kelly D and BW - I don't talk too much, it's all murph lol.
Special Shout out to Poppyfairy - How are you love? have things settled with your feeding.
Thanks for all your advice/support re fussy feeding. Rang the ABA and spoke to our health nurse - consensus is reflux. ugh. poor little sod. so have to try and just keep doing what i'm doing and hope it clears up soon. if not i'll go to the docs. He's nearly 3 months so i'll leave it til at least then. It's off and on and that's what has been confusing me.
He has decided today that if we go 1 second past when he says it's bed time he will absolutely crack the biggest tanty - screaming to hoarness and nearly making himself sick! All Dh did was lay Ash on the change table to dress him after his bath (for which he was all smiles) and it was the end of the world! lol. You should have seen the quivering lips once i settled him down a bit. Felt bad for Dh as he would only settle for me. on the up side, i got him calm and popped him to bed and he has been asleep ever since :)
Has anyone got a long, thin bub & if so any tips 4 getting clothes or particular brands? ash is in 00 already even without the cloth nap on! but they fall off the shoulders and fit on the length.
oh dear, BW maybe it is me who talks too much! :o
Grub, we went through the long, thin baby a few times. With some of our size transitions... I'd sometimes put something on Sam, pick him up and have his shorts fall straight off! In winter it's really hard as you need long sleeves and long legs, and it's just impossible. I've got through most of Summer with Sam wearing both 0 and 1 as the length when wearing t-shirts and shorts isn't so critical. For a while he still had a pair of 00 shorts that still fit. There was a time when he was wearing 00 shorts and a size one t-shrt to get his shorts to stay up and have his t-shirt not expose his belly. He's grown a bit now and we can get most size 1 shorts to stay on (but not always up!). He wears a lot of overalls just to stop things falling off or down. When it came to winter clothing I would try to find jeans or pants with cuffs so that I could get some extra length out of them and would often have to put him in a top/jumper that was quite baggy. Sizes can very a lot between different stores, too. Kmart clothes are always on the small side (great for the start of a size transition), especially in the under 0 sizes. Dymples which you get at big w always tend to be HUGE and so I try to avoid them until he's quite solidly in a particular size. More of an issue once you get to starting to look at size 1 clothing, but from target the size 1 clothing from the baby section is smaller than the size 1 clothing you can get from the kids section. If you can't get overalls, go for stuff with elastic waists as they tend to stay up a bit quicker than something that only has a button or part elastic waist.
Anyway, crap day at work yesterday so I'm doing all I can to avoid getting ready to go this morning, so I should go... and will try to get back later, but not likely to happen today. Once DH has picked me up he needs to drop me and Sam at home and take our car out to get new tyres. Hopefully Sam will consent to having two naps today and I can put him to sleep when we get home and all will be well.
BW
Just getting on the new thread, but gotta run! Back later to catch up.
Janie and Jasmine xxx
Hey Grub I've found that if you buy anything "bonds" from Best & Less or any of the Target Baby stuff it is smaller. Tara is moving up to size 0 now in most clothes and I went to Target to get her some all in ones and they show the length up to 76cm, where the Dymples brand from Big W has size 0 up to 104cm (WT). So basically anything I have from Target for her in a 0 she can wear or if from Big W it's 00.
Murph:  about the new big house. I bet you guys will end up camping out in just one room (ie: Family Room) anyway. I can just imagine you at night going into Jazzy's room half asleep and bouncing off the wall of the hallway as you haven't had to negotiate those before...
BG: So sorry to hear you are in pain, at least you DH around to help you out with E.
Hello to everyone else, not much time this morning I'm trying to get the washing done before little miss wakes up.
Now I don't want to sound like I'm bragging but Tara has now decided that going to bed at 8.30pm is the ideal time and waking up at around 7am for a nappy change and bring in to the big bed and then going back to sleep until 9.30am-10.00am is now the norm. When she wakes for a nappy change she is not hungry and even when she wakes later in the morning I still get about 15mins to get her breakfast ready. She has now increased her solid feeds to twice a day as well. Breakfast and lunch and is still having the same amount of bottles so she is taking to solid food like a duck to water, and man o man the nappies..... yuck..... we are now getting on average 2 dirty nappies a day (the other day we had 3) so I definately know we have no constipation issues here. She is loving anything put in her chubby gob, sweet and savoury, so looks like (fingers crossed) we don't have a fussy eater on our hands - not yet anyway.
Anyway girls, better get moving I'm off to Target to buy some size 0 and 1 all in ones for Tara (on special for $5) as I don't have any all in ones with feet in the bigger sizes and as they will fit her nad the weather is starting to change thought I had better stock up. Thanks for the reminder Grub (re: clothes sizes).
Neptune I don't know how we can't pass on a cold. I hope he gets over it soon. at baby monitor. I'm getting one cos when I'm outside I hear nothing (good and bad)
Murph were are you living? Kingscote? out house is in Penneshaw and our unit is in Kingscote but it's a poky 2br. I hope you and DH are getting things done, wow this is so quick for you but I think the best decisions always are. :)
Briggsy's girl thanks for the book tip.
Grub I have a long skinny bub too, I had him in 0 bonds suit yesterday. Length is right but feet are way too big.
KellyD I just went bright green, lucky you enjoy it.
ATM MIL is being a saint, she took link from 10pm till midnight last night and I slept. He didn't wake till 1pm good feed bum change then zzzzz with mum in bed, then 3am but I got a boob in his mouth before he woke up and he 1/2 drained it and slept till 5.30am. He wet through but next time I'll change him before I feed. So I got some great sleeps in last night.
Ped said that Linc must be intolarant to cows milk (yaya someone believes me) due to what I've observed. So no milk products except if cooked for another 7 weeks. then try again. I feel much more validated today and like I'm not a nutter.
So I need to change off of butter then I am completly dairy free. Baught some dairy free choc and icecream (not bad) and babe is so much happier which means I am too :D
Missing DH He's home Friday till Sunday then not home for 10 days  but MIL and mum are pitching in heaps.
:) hello girls,
hope your all well,im a bit to busy for any perssies today but im thinking of all you beautiful mummys
luv 2 all xoxo
Bit of a sad day today. After another night of wind and upset little man I decided enough was enough and onto formula.
I saw the pead yesterday who said linc is most prob lactose intolerant so he may be unsettled on my milk for 3+ months :wall:
So when he decided he only likes one boob and not the other and was starving but wouldn't take the other one I went to the chemist and baught soy formula.
But he is so much more settled, he slept in his bed! (first time in a fortnight) for an hour and in his sling for 90mins. He looks so much happier and isn't waking up screaming.
I do feed guilty for giving up but it's not working for me and I don't think it's working for him either.
I was so sad this morning I cried over the top of linc while he was screaming with hunger but wouldn't take the other boob. MIL came in took bubs and gave me a huge hug. I rang DH and blurted out all my feelings and he was so sweet, telling me how fantastic a job I am doing etc. I still really wish he was here.
I still feel sad but linc is so much happier already and I can eat food again :D which I'm sure I"ll grow to love more daily
No time at all atm, but i wanted to say to Green not to feel guilty about your decision. As long as you feel that it was your choice and you and bubs are ok, then don't feel guilty. Heck, everything we do as mums can make you feel guilty :wall: and we shouldn't. It's hard sometimes when things don't work out how we thought, especially when you TTC for so long too. That's why we have this thread
We have a house full of colds and I'm sleeping at night with DS2 holding him upright so he can breathe. DS1 sneezed so hard this morning and so much came out that he gave himself a fright...and it's SUMMER. Imagine what winter is going to be like.
:hello: to all
green - i second lenny's comments. what a good mum you are! being a mum means making decisions that are best for baby... and by the sounds of it you've made the right choice. Don't feel guilty at all. Okay, ideally he would be loving the boobie but that is not the case and it's your job to find an alternative that works for you both... and good on MIL for the big hug, I"m sending you one now too love. You should be so proud on what you've achieved and how hard you've worked to get him this far. But neither of you should be full of tears at dinner time oxox
just a quick one here today too. Ash seems happier now i'm not forcing the feeding so much. once he's off and if he's upset i offer again once and when that's refused but the boobies away. But his lunch feed today was only 5 mins... the last min of which he spent looking up at me smiling, sucking, smiling, farting. lol. They are the moments i live for.
BG - i looked up soem wonder week stuff... i really think that may be what's up. he did another huge crying fit last night and promptly passed out once i calmed him. he is also noticing a lot more around him.
Oh Green I so feel for you, Campbell is lactose intolerant. We had the same thing but he was almost 2 when we found out. When you described your night I almost cried as I am going through the same thing at the moment. Xavier has terrible wind from both ends and was up half the night. We will see the pead next week who also happens to be Campbells pead so knows our family history and hopefully he can offer some ideas. Bad I know but I have him sleeping on his tummy with his legs curled up under him this helps a bit. Anyway his lordship is calling so must go.
Hey Green, don't feel bad you gave your little man a good old try with the booby and you have now made a decision which you feel is the best for him. That's being a great mummy in my eyes.
Just a thought with the formula option for you, Tara is on Karicare De Lact formula so it is lactose free but everything else is the same, I'm not 100% convinced on Soy Formula myself as you hear so much stuff about the hormones etc. You can only get the De Lact from Chemists but I've found it is actually cheaper than normal formula. Just another option for you, but if you think soy is the way to go then you go girl.
Hi everyone else, we are just back from Mothers Group evening where all the dads came along to have a meet up as well. Of couse Tara decided she would show off again by not just rolling onto her tummy but also trying to get onto her back again and when that didn't work she decided to do a face plant and then tuck her legs under her bum and lift off. Geez, this girl is so going to be on the move before I know it, either rolling everywhere or crawling.... Oh, I'm also seeing a baby modelling agency tomorrow to get some stuff to see if it is something Tara might be able to do. May as well get her out earning her keep  the way she is growing it is costing me a fortune to clothe her and there is so much more to come .
thanks for all your kind words, HE SLEPT and so did I last night. :leap: feed at 10 sleep at 12 up at 2 sleep at 3 up at 5.30! OMG I slept!
Linc still has wind but the doc said it'll take a week to get all my milk out of him. :( oh well it's obviously better for him and me OMG I SLEPT! :leap:
KellyD I looked at that formula but pead said soy. not sure why. Might have to ask him when I go back, cos I agrea I'd rather give him the lactose free formula. S26 does one too why did you choose KariCare?
my work got refunded without even doing a tender :leap: so Now I feel better extending my leave (haven't informed my boss yet) oh well no reason why not now. Also got some more tafe hours (when DH is home) so all the cards are lining up. Love it love it.
OMG my boobs are huge and sore and leaking! MIL is comforting DS when he's crying cos it's so sore to have him bouncing on my chest. Sling is still ok though.
Have a great day. I'm off for a coffee and a catch up with my assistant (time to think about work again).
:D
Hey Green, the paed in hossy told the midwifes to get Lactose Free formula for us and they got the Karicare one, so have just keep her on the same all along as it is what she had from the start and I didn't want to change as she didn't have any trouble with the Karicare one.
And a big YAY for you and sleep  hopefully now you will feel a bit sane although you now have to wait for your milk to dry up. Are you expressing to help ease the discomfort and to make sure you don't get any blocked ducts or mastitis. I pumped everyday when my milk was going and gradually after about a week it got less and less until it was all gone away..
:dance: yay for sleep miss green, way to go little linc..
as for the boobies hun i have always been told DO NOT EXPRESS your milk as your trying to get them to dry up ,i was told wear a very tight bra try not to let hot water run on them in the shower and to drink coffee aparently coffee halps dry up milk ? worked for me anyway lol.. but if you keep expressing the milk will keep building up again
any way thats my tips hun ,and again yay for you and linc.
If you express and empty the breast, then it will take ages for your milk to dry up. If you only express enough to be comfortable, then all will be ok. It's recommended that you do it that way to avoid mastitis.
Unfortunately, for me... I never had to express at all to be comfortable, there was nothing there!
BW
Hmmm I rang the medi help line they said don't touch, no hot water and tight bra. But how do I know if I'm getting mastitis? no blocked ducts, I checked, had one of those OUCHY.......
KellyD I rang the Pead to ask and cos he got way worse when I ate milk products he may have a cows milk protein alergy which is still in the lactose free formula but not in Soy. Glad I know now. I trust doctors but I still like to know what's happening and why.
Funny vision of the day ladies. I got out of the shower tried off lent over and felt a drip drip on my arm. I though "were is that comming from I dried off" it was my boobs. bra on stat. DH thinks he's going to massage them tomorrow night I THINK NOT!
Have a great day.
Hi Green,
I used cabbage to take off the heat and swelling off the boobs.
Hi girls,
Working from home today. Boss so good to let me work from home... but kind of make me want to do more work to make up for his kindness.
Kelly, Tara will surely be crawling very soon.
Murph, wow big move.
Hi everyone else.
AFU we are doing well though I wish Lyla would be a bit more interested in food but no matter as long as she is happy and healthy. I think I've got a climber on our hands. Lyla has started climbing onto things now. She climbed onto our bed the other morning using the pile of pillows I left at the foot of the bed. Got DH to quickly tape it. I was so scared that she would fall but the girl used ever mean to get up onto the bed.
Take care everyone. Must make effort to reply because it appears that when I find the time to reply others have beat me to it.. I do enjoy reading your posts though.:p
:) glad you got some rite ansewrs green hunny, i always thought why would you keep exspressing if your trying to dry up milk ?? as this would just keep the milk building up lol..any way after 5 kids this is what i was always told .so im glad you rang someone hun,and yes cabbage leaves are also a really good thing to take away the heat ,they really do work to :) your boobies will be very sore for a few days hun trust me even under your arms it will feel very sore but they will start to feel better each day
luv to you hun
hun ive just thought of another trick that makes boobies feel better might sound silly but DOES work hun
if you have a couple of face washers seriously put them in the freezer layed out stright till they freeze then put them inside your bra to make boobies feel better thats what they told me to do at hossy
and if i remember you can actually go to the dr to get drying up tablets too
if the pain gets to bad take a couple of panadole too hunny
Green, keep an eye out for lumps if you're not going to express at all, because mastitis is a killer. If you get a hot, red lump and/or flu symptoms, then get yourself to a doctor.
If you're concerned about soy formula, the other option is the neocate-type prescription formulas which are completely broken down to base enzymes (or...er..something like that) and are suitable for babies with allergies (without dodgy hormones in soy)
marcellus I'll talk to my pead about it cos he doesn't seam to think soy is an issue but it's my choice isn't it.
No red lumps and boobs are less hard and hot. But Dolly parton alert.
Last night Linc was so good 7.20pm till midnight. I slept 8.30 till midnight. :leap: then 1-4pm then 5-6 then 7-8. What is this feeling ENERGY :D
But he's blocked up and I don't know what to do. Smithy what worked for Charlie?
I've done the sugar water since 6pm feed yesterday and deap bath and massage, but no shift, loads of pushing and I know it's getting to him.
DH is on his way home. Can't wait for cuddles.
Oh linc is now not enjoying sleep during the day. He wakes up after a cat nap has a play another cat nap etc from 8-4pm feed last two days. But I guess this is the right time for fussy sleep isn't it.
Hey Green
Always the way, you get one thing sorted and then something else. Hopefully Smithy can help you out on the poo issue, seems his little body is trying to adjust to the formula.
As for the cat naps during the day, they always seem to go through cycles but you need to now remember he is sleeping longer at night for you... meaning he doesn't want to sleep as much during the day and at certain times he will sleep less as well.. 5-6 weeks of age is the first "Wonder Week" when he is starting to get his sight in so he is probably going to be awake more during the day as this is when his senses are stimulated most.
Good news on the Booby "front" ;), but keep a look out for any signs of not good things.
Kahlan: Good to see you drop in.. eekkk a climbing baby already...move everything to the top shelf, go do it now. And thanks for the heads up about Tara crawling, just my luck a baby who wants to be on the move too soon. Isn't it funny we always can't wait for the next thing to happen and when it does we are not prepared for it, but seriously these babies who want to do things before they are supposed to (Lyla & Tara) haven't they read the books :D
Hi to everyone else...
Could Tara being growing again??? What with all this sleeping at night (about 13 hours) she is now pretty much only awake during the day to eat and then is back to sleep. So far today she has been awake for about 2 1/2 hours total since waking at 10am. Or maybe she is sleepy from having a full tummy as I give her solids at both her breakfast & lunch meal along with a bottle. Or maybe she is just an afternoon awake baby as she seems to be awake from about 4pm in the afternoon until her bedtime now around 8-8.30pm. Not that I'm complaining at all, I suppose I should take my own advise "it is a cycle she is going through".
Green just wanted to let you know what we are doing and have done in the past.
Raise the end of the bed and change table.
Sleep on tummy with legs tucked under. (I know totally bad, I try and do it only during the day when I am awake but sometimes it is the only way he will sleep. We also have a motion monitor, so no movement all the bells and whistles start.)
Infants friend, you get it from the chemist and boy is it working. Was at the shop yesterday and his farts we so loud people were looking sideways at me. But before this all that wind was trapped in his bowels.
Chiropractor, when are paying off our chiros morgage this is how highly I recomend it. Xavier was all jammed up in his intestine area and his bowels hopefully the adjustment will help releive some of the pain.
As for the soy if this is a permanant thing, like Campbell. He will have to encounter soy as he gets older. We have sourced soy alternative for lots of things, like icecream and yogurt. It becomes a life style thing. I do get some funny looks when I order a soy babychino.
Oh when Campbell was on formula I always added an extra 10 mls of water then recomended to help stop him from getting blocked up.
Hope this helps, but what I always say to new mums and I did this with Campbell was listern to the advice and then do what works for you.
Hope everyone is doing well, I am a bit tired today got one boy back to be at 6 only to have the other one wake up at 6.30.
Hi Green,
Great to hear you are getting more sleep. About Linc having problems with his bowel movements. How long has last done it? Formula can really change a baby's habits. Formula fed babies could go for days without passing anything. Lyla is formula fed and don't normally pass anything for 3-4 days without being constipated at all. However, if Linc is having problems, first thing you must try is water and lots of it. Give him 10-20 mls every hour or. Good luck. You are doing a wonderful job by the way.
BW - how is Sam? How are you holding up? I was very heart broken when I first returned to work but it gets easier each day and I always look forward to seeing my LO at the end of work.
Kelly, yes, I wasn't prepared to buy walking shoes for Lyla until she is over 12 months but had to order proper shoes the other day. She found it strange with the shoes and prefers to sit, pull her feet to her face and mouth the shoes instead :doh: but is loving every chance she gets to practice walking and climbing though. I believe Tara would probably be the same because she is doing what Lyla was at the age. so be prepared my dear friend. I see in your sig that you are planning for #2 in Jan 2011. We are planning that for late 2010 or early 2011 so never no we might be having our second one at the same time and be belly buddies.
BG - how is Miss E, any new words or should I ask whether she is giving you sentences? Lyla clapped her hands today... I think. I picked her up from Family Day Care and she suddenly clapped her hands. She doesn't do it on command though so can't say that she understood "clap your hands".
Murph - I know Queensland is under flood at present, are you affected by it in anyway. Thinking of you anyway.
Grub - how are you doing? Ash's is so cool
Saph - take care of yourself hun.
To everyone else, hope you have a peaceful and relaxing weekend.
Kahlan, I'm really touched that you remembered us and asked how we are going! I've been slammed by work and life this week... A man I used to work with (didn't know him well but he was only 25) died suddenly and his funeral was on Wednesday. Had another man in our church pass away on Tuesday morning (cancer, but still quite sudden and unexpected, he was struck down by an infection) and his funeral was on Thursday. I wasn't able to go to either, so have been feeling fairly sad about that. Throw a nasty situation with a problem student on top, needing to set four tests in the next week (and the horror of marking soon to come!) and I'm just ready to crawl under a rock and hide from the world for a while. But we keep plodding onwards... I just don't get much time to read BB, let alone reply at the moment. Makes me feel a bit lonely and isolated, so it really was nice to be remembered and asked about! :)
Anyway... Sam is going fantastically. I was starting to get quite worried about his apparent lack of speech (especially when I hear about the super-advance miss E so often! :)) But all of a sudden in the last week he has suddenly started repeating sounds to us when we speak to him. It's coming along! He just loves having DH at home and gets to spend a lot of time "helping" daddy maintain the back lawn... He's got a real thing for carrying around random objects and yesterday he chose a broom. A full-size broom, not a toy broom. Unfortunately it caused him to trip and he's got a nasty bruise on his beautiful face, lots of tears last night (from me, too!) but doesn't seem bothered by it today. He's also getting more into the swing of daycare, too. I dropped him off this morning and for the first time I managed to leave without the sound of him crying his little heart out following me to the car. One of the carers took him to the other room to show him some baby chicks. Apparently that was pretty cool, but when he looked up and saw me the tears started again. But I'd already said goodbye so I just stepped out of view and watched him turn straight back to the chicks and stop crying. He seems to love daycare days now - apart from the drop off!
Green - when it comes to FF babies and poo... Sam was an every 4 days like clockwork baby. We stressed a lot about him being constipated and we tried all the tricks, but nothing worked. Then we stopped and thought about it - when he did poo it was still soft, so it wasn't constipation. He just had a 4 day poo cycle. You could just about predict to the hour when he would poo, though! I know they say that FF babies should poo every day, but Sam pretty thoroughly proved that one wrong! When we changed to step 2 formula and introduced solids he slowly moved to once per day. As long as his poo is soft, then don't panic if he doesn't go every day. Is that enough poo talk yet?
Ugh! We have some seriously inconsiderate jerks living over our back fence now. They like to play their music way too loud and we are frequently assaulted by doof doof doof constantly. They've just started up and it just gets way too stressful to stay in the study with that going, so I think I might go turn on a fan (helps make the doof doof less obvious if you drown it in a gentle hum) in the bedroom and try to get some sleep. And I've just remembered that it's Friday and I need to take my methotrexate and that will knock me out pretty thoroughly anyway... but if I don't take it soon I'm likely to spend most of the weekend feeling dreadful.
Good night all, and sweet dreams!
BW
Hi everyone, I have finally gotten the guts up to post in here, it still feels really surreal for me and I just can't quite believe my luck that I finally made it here.
I also wanted to celebrate my lovely new Avy!!
Will take some time to get up to date on where you are all at so will be reading between feeds and will be back once I know what is going on.
Love to all xx
oh bw - i can't imagine how hard it is to walk to the car while hearing bubba cry out for you! but glad he's settling into care a bit better. and pft to sucky neighbours.
BDT - yayay. Welcome love :) how are you? I've missed it... what did you call your girls? ox
hi kahlan - lol yes ash is so cool hahaa. Do you have frosties for number 2 or having to do another full cycle?
saph - hi there lovely preggy thread friend :) i second your comment about Infant's Friend. it has really helped ash but when to stop giving it to them?
kellyd - don't you wish they would tell us 'okay mum i've decided i'm going to ditch the old routine and do this/that now' lol. I think Ash is going through a change too. But yes, sleep is good. isn't it funny, we worry when they aren't sleeping and worry when they are!
green - sounds like you are comign to terms better with your new feeding role :) and just think DH can help more with the feeds too. This week i've decided that breastfeeding is really hard work but maybe that's just me as it's not that enjoyable when your baby is in pain/cry etc.
hi smithy, marcellus, bg, lenny, janie and all the lovely mummas here :)
MURPH -where are you? moving house?
We stil don't have a clue what ash is wanting atm. but the huge screaming bout of the arvo didn't happen yesterday. he seemed to want a feed at 4pm, then a nap, then a short feed at 6pm, bathed him, and started to grizzle so right to bed by 7pm and he was a good boy.
He wanted another feed at 9pm and then i dream fed him at 11.30am and he slept to 3.30am and had another feed. His night feeds all went for about 30 mins. he took both sides :) He then woke about 7.30/8am had a feed and a play and wanted bed again by 8.45am and has been a kipping ever since.
so i was happy with that but not sure if it will be the same tonight. hmmm
he's definitely more aware of the world thesedays too. it's lovely.
Also, Aldi is selling these most gorgeous hand puppets (safari theme) for $5 atm. If anyone wants to get some, they are gorgeous. theres a lion, giraffe, zebra, cheetah, and tiger and they are a really good size, dh's hand fits in them!
HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND!
Welcome baby dreamtime! and congrats on your little princesses
Green - i know i FF, but have done a bit of reading on formula and poop (given BW and I talk baby poop far too often lol) and it seems that introducing or changing formula will often lead to baby having issues with their tum for a few days while they get used to the new formula. as BW said, if all is soft when it does happen, it should be ok.
Kahlan - thanks for asking after us hun! E is quite the chatter box. will happily string a couple of words together (boob mum, up mum, fooooooooooooooood mum) - and is coming out with new chatter regularly. i was trying to dismiss a lot of it as just garble - but she repeats and repeats and will let you know what she is talking about. she answers questions with yes or no (nods head, yesssssssssss, or crazy head shakes for no) - and will answer some things the same every time (latest is "do you love x (x being mum's sister) - responds with pfffffft and big raspberries - so cute!). i have come to accept that she is advanced with speaking (as apparently i was) but is struggling a little in comparison to some of her baby buddies with other things. she still doesn't crawl properly, just a rather rapid commando crawl. she has only just started dragging herself up on furniture where some of the others are already actively walking. every baby is different (BW!!!!!) - E's just got the gift of the gab like her mum!
i'm off to get my day going a bit. E has been really unsettled lately. stupid teeth, and i think we're going through a growth spurt. i don't mind cluster feeding - but cluster feeding from midnight to 5am - NOT my idea of fun! last night we got 14 hours of "sleep" - the first few hours were really unsettled - she woke every hour or so in distress and wanted me to feed and resettle, then woke at almost midnight (just as i went to bed) and decided it was time to play. ummm nope! feed and off to bed - she then slept for five hours which was fantastic after five nights of bugger all sleep. hopefully this is a nice turnaround for us and we're heading back to the way she used to be!
Hi girls
Just a quick one from me.
I have been reading and catching up, but I am so busy with my poor dog, Adam and all the study I have to do I don't have time to get on here much.
Welcome to the thread Saph and BDT!!!!!
Our doggie is having pretty much a total knee reconstruction this week. She then has to rest for 8 weeks, we even have to walk her outside on a lead to wee and poo. After 8 weeks she can walk a few more metres, and then after 4 months she can start getting longer walks. I am so upset about the rehab, she just loves her walks and now will get very depressed I think. I love the walks too, so it's going to be hard on all of us.
Wednesday will be a night mare. DH at work from 6am so he can't help me. I have to pack for my trip to Melbourne, get it all in the car, get the dog to the vet (45 minute drive) by 8am, get home and to the local train station and then get Adam and myself on the train to the airport. I need to be there by 930ish. I will have Adam in a baby bjorn, a back pack as a nappy bag, my lap-top and my enormous suitcase. It's going to be fun getting down the 30 stairs at the station!!! I'm just hoping someone takes pity on me and helps me onto the train LOL!
I'll be in Melbourne staying with my folks for 3 weeks. DH will be down the following week for the GP, so that will be nice.
Adam is a cutie pie, he is just so much fun at the moment!
Hope you are all well. Thanks for listening to me vent!
Hey All
BDT:  So happy to see you made it across to join us, although not too scary as the same old faces here as in the pg thread. I'm looking forward to hear how you are doing with your beautiful girls. Oh, is DH so rapt around their little fingers yet??
BG: So funny about E and her gift of the gab. Tara is a full on chatterbox when she is awake, starts as soon as she opens her eyes and only stops when something is put in her mouth, although saying that she is adept and taking and blowing raspberries with a dummy in .
Grub: Gotta love that Ash is now so much more alert with the world, you thought before was "fun" well guess what the fun really starts now.
BW: Sounds like you had a very horrid week but good to hear that Sam is loving daddy time and is adapting to CC for you as well.
Kahlan: :crossfingers: we get to be belly buddies together. We decided next Jan would be a pretty good time to start again and in everything goes to "plan" then there should hopefully only be a 2 year age gap. Although if a miracle happens in the meantime then we will run with that plan instead.
Well DH has gone out this morning on some errands and one is to "buy some baby gates" after Kahlan's prediction I think we better get baby proofing ASAP. Oh, and Grub forgot to mention yeah the change in routine...Tara now finds 5.30am the perfect time to wake and have a chat and a play for oh 30 minutes or so. She thinks it's a hoot seeing mummy with her eyes hanging out of her head at that time of the morning and gives us high pitched squeals to show how good it is. Luckily once she is back to sleep she will sleep again until about 8am and then another 20 minute play and back to sleep until 10am.
Speaking of which she is sleeping now so better get into gear and get dressed I suppose.
