DP and i are having some issues so feeling like utter crap, one of the MG girls made me cry (not on purpose) so she's coming over some time this week to take my mind off things.

Hope everything goes well at the Dr's.. we are opposites, i was sooo used to having a midget baby it's odd having one thats on or above average for her age.

thanks janjams we just seem to have the same argument over and over and DP makes me feel like CRAP but we seemed ok last night, then i get up this morning to the news my brother and his fiance have split! :o

Well Z is doing well, i have had to put her in 00 suits for length now, it's odd as she is in suits that Ava was wearing at 6mths+, i can't wait til her next check-up on the 5.5 i think, wanna see how she's going.
I have found today she has gone back to being fussy feeding and a bit grizzly the last couple of days, think the change in weather is getting to her a bit.

How is everyone going with the o/night feeds now?
Z had 2 nights where she went 10 through til 6 and then the other night she went back to feeding at about 3ish. :wall:

Hey girlies i just have a quick question! (now that I've finally found the new thread!! thought it was quiet....)
DS is staying at nana's and pops for a couple of hours on saturday night (first time without mummy... i think mummy is gonna find it harder!) and I was just wondering with a bottle, would he be ok with a "1" teat still or should I go the next one up? I tried looking on the packet (it came with my breast pump...) but it doesn't say anything about ages and teat sizes...

Teagz - sometimes it depends on your flow, i would leave a 1 and a 2 JIC, are you able to maybe try and see what works at home first?
I am thinking about this with Z aswell, i have expressed a bit today and want to make it a regular thing for DP to feed Z so i can have a break and get her used to a bottle, i have quite a fast 'flow' so am thinking she might prefer a 2.... hmmm interesting to see what everyone else suggests.

I would maybe try him out on the bottle teats before you leave him just to see which one he takes to. Sebs still on 1's never thought about changing it :doh: but he seems to be fine drinking it although apparently he does fall asleep then wake up a bit later for the rest of the bottle. Maybe hes getting to tired as its not fast enough? Hmmm might try him on a 2 soon then.

ZF - I hope you are feeling better about things!

PO5 - how did Milly's appt go?

Teagz, no idea about the bottle maybe a slow one? That way he will still have to work for it like he does at the boob.

AFM, we're going well. Amelia gets her 4 month needles on Monday boo :( She's still feeding lots, her biggest break is between 7:30pm and anywhere between 1am-2am, then she comes into bed with me and is on and off several times until 6am. Not much else to report!

Hey girls Milly is a bit on the small side she is in the 10th percentile
doc has put her on medication for her reflux and has ordered a urine test
she has to go back in 3 weeks and doctor is hoping for a gain of weight in that time :crossfingers:

Teagz_ im no expert but id say use a size 1 teat so he has to work for it, Milly has just gone onto the stage 2 teats but my SIL who sometimes gives her BF bub a bottle just uses stage 1 teats

PO5 - hopefully Milly's reflux will improve with the meds. Try not to worry about the weight. Amelia is also on the small side, around the 12th percentile, but I'm not worrying about it this time. DS was also below the charts for the first 4 months and him not gaining weight stressed me out big time. I let it get to me alot. I know DD is small but this time around I know that she is fine. That's just how my babies roll ;) Milly will be fine too and who knows maybe once her reflux clears up, she'll have a growth spurt :hug:

PO5 - hey hun Ava was 10th% right up until her 18mth check-up, you might just have yourself a petite little princess... try not to worry too much.
Hopefully the meds help for reflux and keeping that little bit extra down could make all the difference.

thanks girlies! might keep him on the 1 teat, i am terrified of him liking the bottle more than me, and my flow is quite quick - once it gets going he could just hold his mouth there and swallow, with no sucking kind of quick, so the more he has to work for it the better XD He seems to go fine on the 1 ones, so seeing as he has a bottle... never, i might just stick with that for now.

Have any of you's left your bubba's yet? I'm crapping myself. I get a knot in my throat whenever I think about it. I feel a mixture of guilt for leaving him with my Parents when he's my responsibility, because I"m terrified he might just be beside himself (although so long as he's full he's usually very content) and drive them batty XD Although they're so excited to look after him. Then I feel excited because it would be nice for DH and I to have a night out where we can both sit back, together. And then I feel guilty again for being excited about leaving him on his own, and then I just feel horrible like I'm abandoning him *deep breath* I'm going to miss him like hell. Jeez, and it's only for a few hours! I think I'm just a bit of a basket case!

Minny, i have tried him out on the tomeetippee teats and the avent ones. They avent ones he seems to take to alot better, although he does fluff around with it for a little while, but he has only ever had a bottle twice :redface: While the tomeetippee ones are meant to be like a boob, the "nipple" part just seems to be too long and straw like, but the avent ones, although they are smaller the "nipple" part is a bit more "meaty" iykwim XP

Zarava, sucks to hear about your DP... unfortunately they all have their moments tho, don't they! Hope things start to settle down again soon :hug:
And overnight feeds? What are they? XD Thankfully after a really horrible week or so of waking up every 4 hours, Jackson has gone back to sleeping thru. Although he seems to have found himself a new routine again. He goes to bed around 8-8.30 and then wakes up around 5-6. If only he'd be a bit nicer to me, and wake up at least with the sun! I mean, what is an extra hour XD But, I know I'm super lucky.

PO5, I hope Milly's reflux settles down soon. FWIW, when I saw you in the shops the other day it didn't even cross my mind that she looked like she was on the small side. She looks perfectly healthy to me! She's just a petite little princess! <3

Eluned, Jackson gets his 4 months needles on the 10th. And the dog gets his year vac tomorrow! All these needles... at least the dog doesn't cry. Jackson gets weighed on the 5th too, so that will be interesting...

Hey, when is everyone planning on starting solids? Shortly, or will you be waiting closer to 6 months? I'm thinking we might give them a go at 4 months, as Jackson seems really fascinated whenever he see's us put something in our mouths XD But I'll see when the CHN has to say first, I guess...

Well I better mosey, i have been listening to Jackson straining the last 10 minutes and have a feeling that I've got a giant poop waiting for me XD

Teagz Good luck with leaving bubs and enjoy your night out!! You are a stronger woman than me DS1 was 17 months old before I left him with a friend to go to work chrissy night out as DH work do was same night!!!
Solids we wont start till 6 months as I follow WHO guidelines. DS2 is very inquisitive and looking around at everything.

Party-of-five Dont stress too much about wg, they like to stress us all out!! DS1 was on 3rd centile for a long time (after being born on 75th) He got back to 50th at around 12 months. He also had reflux and was medicated from 5 weeks till 7 months.


Hello to everyone else!!

As for us not much news here! DS1 whinging a lot last few days and annoying me!!! DS2 very cute and smiley very hard to be upset when he wont go to sleep when smiling at me!!! He generally is in our bed from around 1am and goes on and off boob a few times.

Teagz, I didn't leave DS with anyone until he was 8 months. DD haven't left with anyone yet. Not sure when that will be either as she only settles for me atm.

We'll start solids at 6 months as per WHO. I'm in no hurry to introduce more work for myself lol. DD is very inquisitive too. This is the age they start looking around at everything! Everything is so fascinating to them now :)

Teagz_:redface: ive left Milly for the night already, we had 2 weddings in one day so mum stayed here(we stayed in town) and had all the kids overnight it was so nice to spend some time with DH but I was busting my butt to get home to my babies(oh and I got drunk and cried and cried cause i missed them lol)
Oh with DD1 i started solids at 4 and a half months with Milly we will just wait and see

Teagz - WHO = World Health Organisation

DD1 was started on solids about 5 months. I will be the same or closer to 6 months with DD2. For me there is no urgency to get them to start eating. We started DD1 when we did because she was showing all of the signs of wanting food. Every kid is different though.

Oh and for rice cereal we used the Rafferty's Garden one. I think Farex is awful!

With A we started around 5mths as she showed all the signs of being ready. but she had been sitting unaided since just before 5mths so i was comfortable knowing she had correct head control etc.
This time around i think i might wait until closer to 6mths (unless Z is starving and my milk is just not enough) as A went through a stage from 6-8mths where she just STOPPED food all together and i was sooo soo stressed thinking she should be eating.

Z also shows an interest in our food when we eat, follows the spoon etc but as she cannot sit on her own i am not comfortable propping her up in the highchair to give it a try, i want her digestive system to mature and be able to handle solids as well.

Z has not been herself the last 2 days, not sure if it's a growth spurt or what but she's quite grizzly, feeding every 2-3hrs even overnight and has been spewy after feeds which is not like her at all, she's gone back to one giant poo a day.
She can't honestly being having another growth spurt, i just put her in 00 suits. :rofl:
Got her MCHN appt on the 5th so i can't wait.

Milly is no different on her meds still spews just as much but after reading some lovely posts ;) im learning not to stress so much...im sure ill get used to having a smaller baby you just cant help but compare can you???

Milly is still waking at least once sometimes twice thru the night :o she will be going into her own room some time this week(all ready is thru the day) if i work up the courage that it :lol:

Milly had photos done the other day and in true babies style she pee'd all over the poor photo ladys props but I guess they are used to that sort of stuff...hoping to get the disc today or tomorrow :dance:

Tasha, you will get used to your PETITE little girl.. it took me a while to get used to Ava and although she is now 50%th for height people still comment on how tiny she is and how big Zara is going to be compared to her.... lol

Zara is also waking 1-2 a night still, the last couple of nights have been HELL, i seriously seriously think she is teething she has been grumpy during the day, fussy on feeds, red cheeks, at 5 in the morning the other night she WOULD NOT settle and ended up going to the lounge putting her in the swing in the dark with the tv on and i fell asleep on the couch.

Gave her some nurofen last night (i was hoping not too but she had a shocking day) and she slept til i think about 3ish then through til just before 7.
I have just purchased an amber teething necklace from e-bay to try with A as she got 3 molars in a week and i'm over it, if it works might try on Z while she's so fussy.

How is everyone else going

Leah, let me know how the teething necklace goes... i might get one ready for Jackson soon!

AFM, well our night out went well. Although bawled when I left him :(
We went to our party, then got some junk food and ate it down the beach and chilled out together for a while. Apparently jackson was star, and fell asleep at 7.30, and after all my expressing he didn't even need any of it :doh: But better to be safe then sorry. Oh! And I had a drink... mmmm, corona and lime... nom nom nom.

just a quick one as I just found the new thread and Caroline is grizzling to get up (but i'm HOPING she'll go back to sleep). We have mum's group today and if she repeats today the screaming of the last two I will have to throw the towel in. She doesn't sleep leading up to it and is so overtired she is almost vomitting she is screaming so much. it's AWFUL, not just for me (who is nearly in tears myself outside) but for the other mums I am sure. we'll see how today goes.

she had her 4 month check up last week and is 60cm and 5.2kgs - so she has dropped from 75% to 25th for height and 25th to 10th percentile for weight. I was told that was ok because it was in perspective ie; height dropped also. but still... I worry she is not getting enough milk as I still feed with the shields but she seems happy enough (lol except at mum's group!!), has lots of wet nappies and developmentally is going great. So am trying to not get too stressed out. I'm not in a hurry to start solids, not sure when we will. She sleeps through most nights and doesn't even notice us eating so doesn't seem to be wanting it herself. who knows what tomorrow will bring though.

we left her with my mum to go to a concert a few weeks ago but other than that we haven't. I am going out on Saturday night so she'll just stay home with DH.

what are the plans for mothers day ladies? anything exciting? we booked breakfast at the place where we got married, figured breakfast was a safer bet than lunch where Caroline starts to get cranky and tired!

Teagz, DS has an amber teething necklace and it's awesome! It has worked so well. I'm gonna get one for DD soon because I can see two teeth starting to appear...eek!!

PO5, it is hard at first with a petite baby but you get used to all the comments. DD is on the 12th percentile and I always get oh she's sooo tiny. We have another baby at playgroup who is 6 days younger than her and is a big chubba and always gets compared. What can you do but just say meh it is how it is!

illeyena, don't worry about the size. As you said she is doing perfectly developmentally etc. Trust your instincts. Sounds like she is going great!

DD had her 4 month needles today. Let out a big cry for about 15 seconds then snuggled into mummy. Poor little poppet she was so brave!

We are still feeding about 3 times a night but we co sleep for that part so it's not tooo bad.

Just popping in, Jackson had a CHN appt today. He's now 6890grams and 64.5kg's long. The CHN said his weight gain was slightly on the minimal side(500g in a month), but he's so tall and such a smiley boy I just think it's him... and the fact that he never stays still!
He has been pulling at his ear for a couple of days and she had a peek and it's a little pink in there. So fingers crossed he doesn't get an ear infection. I've woken up with a cold this morning too so I hope he doesn't get that either! Otherwise, he is his normal happy self.

OH, and last night he woke up at 2.30am for a feed.. he hasn't woken up for soo long, even DH got up to see if he was ok. But after a feed and a bit of a chat, he went back to sleep and didn't wake up again til 8.30am! Oh how I love it when i get to sleep in AND get to get up on my own terms haha.

Wow Teagz Jackson is going so well.... well done to you both, your very lucky with the sleeping.

Illeyena, how did MG go, i hope it went well.. i LOVE my MG and i don't know how i would get through the week without them, it really is worth sticking with it... we all goes through those patches where our baby is the one crying the most etc... in years to come you will prob laugh it off.

Eluned - awww needles suck but it's great when you have a good baby.. hope your well.

AFM - Zara had her MCHN appt today she is now 5.76kg (1120g in 8wks), 61.5 cm (4.5cm growth) and her head is 40cm, got MCHN to have a look and she says she is DEFINITELY teething, she can feel 2 little bumps and see 2 small lines in her gums... got her to check cos i thought i was seeing things.
She was up 3 times last night and ended up sleeping in my bed and we were up by 7, she was awake from 6:30 til just after 9:wall:

MCHN said her weight has finally slowed down as it should about now but her length was still more than she had expected, she said normally they slow down a little.. atleast she's not still doing a cm a week.
Ava was 62cm at 25wks, so Zara is almost 9wks ahead :o

Wow, Leah! IT's amazing how different bubba's can be! Both your gorgeous girls are a classic example, and they're sisters!
It's funny about Z's nap pattern too, I have noticed Jacks stays awake for longer periods during the day now too - 3-4 hours. The first day he did it I spent a good 2 hours trying to get him to nap and he just wouldn't do it, so I've accepted the new routine now (don't you just love it when they change things on you) and all seems ok! It does do your head in, and especially more so if they're not sleeping much (or up super early, as jackson had been waking at 5 for a few mornings!) Hopefully Z settles down again for you, lovey! xx

Yeah my girls are at complete ends of the scale height/weight wise but i guess it's good that their different... lol

It only seems to be the morning that she will stay awake for that long happily, the rest of the day i am almost having to rock her to sleep, i NEVER had that with A, she was the kind of baby that laid in bed and self settled.
Hopefully Z gets back into the 1 feed a night routine soon, i love the fact she loves my boobs but seriously kid... :rofl:

naps... jackson barely has napped for an hour and a half the last couple of days... he's fine until 6 hits :| then, lookout. Humph.

Hey ladies just checking in, had sebs 4month check up and hes weighing in at 6.9kgs 65cm long and 42.7cm hc. So doing really well!
Have started him on some natural meds called lacteeze for his reflux and OMG its worked wonders! He spews less and is generally more happy and sleeping so much better at night! Ahhh so happy we only usually have 1 wake up now instead of 3+!

Will get around to doing persies soon

Wow! Sounds like all the bubs are growing nicely!! We have a checkup with the CHN next week. I'm so curious to find out what Amelia weighs. She is still so petite but I know she is growing. So different to her brother who took ages to put the weight on but is still on the lower half of the chart. She is growing consistently but still a wee little lass.

Minny, glad to hear the spewing is getting better! And lucky you to have 1 feed overnight!



Amelia is better at taking a dummy now but only if she wants to suck after a feed but gets frustrated on the boob because she gets milk but doesn't want it. ZF, she is also teething I think. I can see two little dots on her gums. If she is she is doing ok so far, had a bit of unsettledness the last couple of days but nothing that has me pulling my hair out (speaking of hair, mine has started to fall out!).

She is a real little chatterbox and babbles to anyone who will listen! So cute. I think she's doing another little growth spurt cause she's added in another feed of a night time. She's now waking again around 11:30 and she is feeding 2 hourly until about 5:30 and then go back to sleep until about 8am. During the day, we are getting a good couple of sleeps out of her. Usually one big long one of about 2 hours (yesterday she did 3 :o ) and a shorter one of about 40min to an hour. Her longest awake time is in the evening about 4ish until about 7:30.

Wow, small babies, big babies, spewy babies, sleepy babies, not sleeping babies.
I just have to say, I love the fact that this forum exists. I haven't started Mothers Group yet (damn! when will they get it going????) and I love that we all have babies at the same age, all very different. I find it really uplifting.

I've had terrible head cold this week, and of course, b/c of bf'ing, can't take ANYTHING for it. Went to see my Dr. today, b/c the cough and sore throat have escalated. All he could say really was to hang in there, panadol or panadeine was the absolute tops he could suggest. Darcey was also coughing this morning, so I asked him to have a look, which he did give her the once over. He asked what the cough sounded like, and right on cue: Hhhm Hhhm from Darcey (such a good baby). He then asked how Darcey was going teething wise, and again, right on cue, she spat dribble out. We both had a laugh at that, he had a feel of her gums, and yep, they are there, ready to go.

Oh, she's crying, I have to go, damn head cold I've given her!

Hi all. It sounds like all the bubs are doing really well. It is wonderful having a group like this where we can all chat, vent, etc and see what other babies the same age are up to.

eluned - I have to say it is so good to hear from someone else whose bub wakes a lot at night! Sorry, I know that you probably would rather she didn't, but it is reassuring for me to hear that mine is not the only one! We seem to have a lot of good sleepers in this thread which has not been my experience with either of my bubs and some days I seriously struggle. DS has also fed two hourly the last couple of nights and after 4-5am it is impossible to get him to go back down again. With DD still not being the best sleeper, it makes for one very tired mummy! Oh, and BTW, my hair is falling out too! Same thing happened after having DD.

We have DS's 4 month check up and needles this week. I am dreading the needles, but looking forward to seeing how much he weighs now. I think he is doing really well and he was nearly 6kg at his 2 month check up, so I am guessing he will weigh a fair bit now. We have been having a lot of trouble with uncontrollable screaming and him arching his back and screaming during feeds so I thought he may have reflux, but the meds haven't helped so I have no idea what the problem is?? Sometimes it really does my head in as he can really scream and I have a toddler to look after too so am at my wits end sometimes. He has a lovely smile and gurgles but only every so often and the rest of the time he doesn't seem very happy. Maybe he is just being a typical baby and I have forgotten what they are like, but I have a Dr appointment in a week anyway just to check all is ok.

Bun, it's so tiring having frequent feeders. My DS was 2 hourly round the clock as well until about 5 months. DD has been doing the same thing as yours during feeds the last couple of days. I thought she was just extra hungry getting ready for a growth spurt but it's actually teeth. So because of all the feeding I woke up at 1am this morning with my boobs about to explode. My left one is still engorged and sore but she can't empty it. Will have to try expressing it out. Tried that at 4am but didn't help. I ended up giving DD some panadol in the end cause she seemed to be in so much pain :(

Well i spoke to soon on the sleeping front :doh: DS is back to waking a few times a night...pfffft ah well this to shall pass.....eventually!...right??

Hmmm havent had the arching back thing with feeding, but if it is teething i can recommend Hylands teething tablets...they are all natural and i have found it to be one of the best things ever for teething.

Sebs reflux is just about non existant with these new natural tablets we are using its fantastic! (can you tell i love anything natural lol)

Anyone using an amber necklace to help combat teething? I brought one last week and just waiting on it to arrive hopefully it works a treat as DD was a bad teether and would love not to have to go through that again!

bun, Jackson usually arches his back while he feeds because of wind... have you friend infacol? I rarely use it anymore, but when I have had to it's helped heaps, and as Jacks gets older he seems to be able to bring his burps up alot easier - and with lots of enthusiasm XD

Jackson has been sleeping really good at night... but I think that may have something to do with the ABSOLUTELY NO NAPS he's been having during the day -.-; As soon as I put him down he wakes up and chucks a patty til I get him back up to play :doh: Not last night the night before be woke up hourly. Not for feeds, just sooking. I didn't get to bed til 2 and then he woke up at 6. And I had a cold and a blocked duct! Woe is ME! :P
