Dion has a bit of water and juice out of a sippy cup, but I dont have formula in the house, and since he's not 12 months, will not offer milk to drink til I can offer normal milk, KWIM???

Thanks for the link Kate. Al is doing the same thing as Kelsey and a lot of the other bubs in that thread, so I feel a little better knowing we're on the same wavelength there. We will probably do the swap to cows milk at 12 months as well, as he's not showing any signs of allergy problems at this stage. BTW I agree you would make a great moderator!

Al is a bit grumpy today, but I can see he is cutting that front tooth, so it must be very uncomfortable. He's started on his 'projects' for the day. He systematically empties drawers and shelves at least twice during the course of the day. My clothes are now all over the floor!

Brooke, Coby is still small and he's the oldest in here I think, born on 12 June. He's only just in 00, still some 000 shirts. He's only 8.9kgs as of last week and that was fully clothed. Don't worry about Maya, she looks very happy and healthy to me!!

Deb WTG with the Danish course - nearly done now....Good on Al for doing his busy chores, we say that about Coby too, he's very busy doing important things....They're funny when they get all industrious aren't they!!

Vanita, so if you aren't giving Dion formula, what are you giving him? Is he still boobyfed?

I've been giving Coby bits of cows milk for ages now, well a couple of months anyway, but not strictly as a drink. His weight gains have been far too slow for me to stop giving him formula yet. There is absolutely nothing wrong with giving them cows milk and its safe to do so from 9 months onwards, with a weaning process of course. And also if there are no allergies present - but that goes without saying.

Are we supposed to be weaning them off the bottle are we? I have no idea, I thought they would self wean once they were ready to stop the bottles. Coby has sippy cup with water during the day, but not much of it, he's not keen on it really, but would much rather drink straight from a normal cup, but of course he can't do this himself, so he doesn't feel independent...

We've had a whingey day today, I suspect more teeth are coming and they are hurting, he's just such a whinger some days, it gets a bit much after a while.

Brooke - WTG Maya sleeping til 9am, what a champ! So you got a sleep in then??

Bel, LOL yep Dion still drinks BB only, not much other, probably about 50 mls of water a day is the only thing he drinks besides BB juice ( still sometimes 4 times a day) Dion has cows milk in things ( like mashed potato's etc) Some self wean, I do know of 3 year olds still having a bottle at night, but IMO its like dummys, move to big bed, all personal; choice. I dont move my kids out of the cot til 3 ( late according to some) I know mums who have done it before their kid was 1

Pup crawled on all fours for the first time yesterday! God he is soooo quick now! He can only crawl ont he rug and has to go back to commando on the cork tiles and floorboards as he can't seem to get purchase on them!!

Not much news from here. Basically trying to organise everything for Paris. DH asked me why I needed to write lists? Well I think that explains who does all the organising. I think his idea of going to Paris is throwing a couple of clothes and his toothbrush in a bag and getting on the plane! I mean, really! I'm writing lists for me, for Blake and for Vivienne. I think Blake's list is the biggest because he needs so many things - clothes, nappies/creams/wipes, formula/bottles/steriliser, food stuffs/cups etc as you can see, the list goes on.

Oh boy, he just woke up. I can hear him through the monitor. I love listening to him. He wakes, he talks, and when he's had enough of being in his cot he throws his beanie bear and dummies onto the floor, which being floorboards we can hear clearly even without the monitor!

kate, sorry to hear about Kelsey's eczema playing up again, and the nappies. I can guarantee it's her teeth. Hopefully they'll pop through soon.

Brooke - WTG Maya and her sleeping! How's all the house stuff going?

Blake has had diluted juice maybe 3 times. His face is so funny when I've done it cause he's expecting water and it tastes sooo different. Not in a hurry to give him more, it just one of those things that happen. He still has his formula but doesn't drink much and he has water regularly - probably a cup a day?

Kate, just a little question, has Kelsey had any allergy tests?? My eczema is bad, when my digestive system is upset, and its usually ( for me ) an overdose of lactose, i find my family the same, if they have bad eczema, they usually have the poohs too, IYKWIM. No creams work for me if I continue to come in contact with my allergens,
I hoep Kelsey is feeling better soon,

Nup, haven't had the Pixie fotos done. Heard that they are expensive though ($400 springs to mind ?????) but don't quote me!

Kate, yay for Kelse clapping. Pup started clapping last week on request and also last week he started waving bye bye properly. Every now and then I catch him waving bye bye to no-one in particular, but he is watching his hand. i think he is facinated that he can do something he means to do!

I'm on CD 8 (or 9?) so we'll be back to TTC in a matter of days. I think my cycle had come back to "normal", so I'm expecting to O sometime around CD14. Fingers crossed it happens, because quite frankly girls, between you and me, BDing atm is a bit of a chore. God, I would never tell DH that, but reading back a bit about some of your sex drives not being what they once were, well, mine is definately not. Not sure why...just don't feel like it. But gotta BD to get the baby!

Kate, glad to hear you had a better night, and no more poo's most of my kids have some allergies, and I phenergan when needed, along with the creams, and it works well.
WTG Kelsey for clapping, its sooo cute, Dion still claps everytime you say "good boy" and I still think its cute!!!

Hay good luck for the TTC ( dont say anything to my DH, but I find BDing a chore most of the time, I never seem to get enough sleep, and by the time Im in bed all I want to do is zzzzzzzzzzz:doh: , once we get started its fun though hey?!:p )

Bel, personally I wouldnt recommend pixie, but they are ok once or twice, They package everything, so it works out cheaper to pay the $300 for the package than to buy two or three photos. very frustrating. We used to take the twins every 3 months and get pixie, but once the kids started moving it became a sad chore. They hire young girls ( 18 or so) show them how to use a camera, and the "standard" poses and thats what happens. After a few times when the twins were berated by the photographer for moving, or looking away we gave it up:crying: . I found a photographer we looove to death, coz cop this HE LOVES KIDS. He lets them be themselves, he poses them, but in a way they can still move, and age appropriate, sometimes he puts them on the floor, and says "lets see what they do". We now see him every 6 months, to record the prgress of our lives!!! I have just had Dion done yesterday. Yummy pics!!! Good luck with whatever you decide

Deb, I find Dion standing up all the time, I occasionally lie him down if he's getting upset, but other than that I just leave him, he eventually ( 5-10 mins) lies down and drops off to nigh nighs, then I go and fix him up ( as he's usually on hands and knees on top of the covers) I was up at that time as I was at work ( and again now) I work from 9 pm to 730 am Mon Tues, Weds very week, and IF its quiet I hop on the puter and try do some catching up.

Gotta tell you something funny, tonight Dion was crawling round the house and he saw his shadow!! Sooooo funny, he's trying to grab it, then he lent over to try lick it, and he kept trying to pick it up, was sooo cute

Just had a big whinge in the vent thread about some lost post, so won't bore you with it here too.
Besides that, all is well. AF is due today, we are hoping she will stay away, but I am not so confident this month. We really wanted to get pregnant this month, but we were all so sick with gastro around O time, it is fairly unlikely we had a successful swimmer.
I hear you hayseed re libido. It certainly can be a chore to BD some days. I feel a bit sorry for my DH as these days I am rarely the one to initiate things. But I have to agree with you Vanita it is just a matter of getting started mostly. And DH is a very understanding man. I keep reminding him the time will come when I will be tapping on his shoulder and he will be saying...'sorry love not tonight' and I will be oh so understanding too :)

I'm impressed all your kids are clapping and waving. Al just isn't doing those things with intention yet.Hmmmmm!! Pressure is on now little one hehe....

Cute Dion was playing with his shadow. Just like a kitten would.

We usually compare Dion to a puppy. He loooves to chew shoes, when in the shower he crawls around your feet, like a dog chasing its tail, and when you are eating, he comes and "begs" no matter how much he's had to eat LOL:p

Deb/Hay - Im with you on the libido front. Im afraid though that I've never had much of a libido, well, not since I first discovered the joys of sex, then after a few years it became a bit of a chore. I never initiate sex and I feel bad about it, but hey, what are ya gonna do?? Probably something to do with my PCOS I guess.

Good luck with TTC girls, I just don't think it will ever happen for us again. And to be honest, after the last few days that I've had with Coby, not sure I want anymore kids - he's been an absolute nightmare! More teeth I suspect.

Tonight Coby and I were taking some dirty nappies out to the bin when he spotted the moon for the very first time (never outside at night) and he was absolutey fascinated by it. He kept pointing and going "uhh, uhh" like he was showing me something that I'd never seen before, very cute....

Only 11 more sleeps till Coby's first birthday.....Im getting excited.....but a bit sad too...

I hear ya Bel on being a bit sad about the first birthday coming up. I read somewhere that some mums get the "blues" around the first birthday as the realisation starts to set in that they are no longer a little baby totally dependant on you, but moving rapidly into being an independant toddler (if they aren't already!). So sad, but good all the same.

Talking of bubs doing funny things (and the stories so far have been soooooo cute), Pup gets on our floorboards or cork tiles and when he gets really excited, he spins around on his belly doing 360's. So funny. And he has this really riduculous laugh - always has and probably always will. It sounds like....um...(trying to think of a way to describe it.....)..he makes the most noise of his laugh on his intake of breath rather than the outflow of breath. So it is like a noisy wheeze. Hard to describe but very easy to imitate. Bloody funny though.

I'm a bit stuck for ideas of a theme for a first birthday. Any suggestions? Doesn't have to been a known character (like Pooh or Wiggles - could be generic like circus or zoo), but something that I can gather stuff easily together to make a theme. Like to do invites, decorations and also able to get scrapbooking stuff to record it all. I just dunno, but definately not farm related.

What about dog, seeing as he's always been known as "pup" IYKWIM>

I was thinking dragons, like Puff, after the way you just described his laugh made me think of it.

I was going to say that we are using Dragons for Coby's first birthday. I am making a dragon cake, a very cute one obviously, he's all green with spots on his back and he's short and fat, very cute. I even found a candle yesterday that has a coloured flame on it, and the flame is red, so I am thinking I will make that the dragon's breath.

There are heaps of ideas tho, its just up to your imagination.

But I think Vanita is on the money with the Pup thing!

It all depends on what he really likes, has he got a favourite toy? Even if its a Monkey or a Giraffe, you could use that, or even if its a block, well that's easy too.

I am going out today and early next week shopping for the big event. We only have family and a couple of Coby's little mothers group friends coming, but there are still a few who will be there....about 40 (DH has a big family)

We're off to the MCHN today to be weighed. Hope he's put some on as he didn't put anything on at the last weigh which meant nothing for 5 weeks. I said to DH that I hope that Pup had put on some weight or I might be in for a talking to by the nurse. DH sniggered and said they might send child services around to make sure I was feeding him!!! OMG!!!

After MCHN we have our mums group. Pup was sick last month so we missed out, and I'll be there have been some changes in the bubbies!

I thought Dion was nearly 10 kg, but he was weighed yesterday and he's 9.5, put on 250 gms in a month, so hes lighter than I thought ( getting confused in my old age LOL)

Just passed level 9 so I have only level 10 and therefore just 3 more weeks of Danish school to go! Thank god, I am so over it now! I can't wait to have more time on my hands to do something else - like finally enjoy being a SAHM.

But there is a lot of pressure here to get kids into childcare ASAP and for me to be in the workforce - I feel it from all circles - family, acquaintances etc. It is because everyone has their kids in by 12 months. I just think its too early for Alex - but I am meeting a lot of resistance. The idea is the child experiences the social aspect - meeting other kids, learning to share and be part of a group. I hope that by being with him and taking him to playgroups, the playground - he can be with other kids. I also plan to make one or two more (kids) myself. The thing is, I just think he's too young to go to school!!! Once he's there, then its big school until he's 17, then its uni then its work. I want him to have some time at home with his mumma I guess.
Sorry that was a bit of a vent wasn't it? I don't think my sisters have had the same pressure in Australia, so it is a cultural difference i think.
DH says I am CEO of Al's childcare, so whatever I think, he supports, but I also believe he is getting the same pressure from his family and friends about it too.

Yes they are cuties - even when the drawers are emptied and the mobile phone is being pounded against the fridge and they are wriggling away with a dirty nappy and bottom and feet and they are up and down in their beds etc etc its all forgotten and they are, bottom line......Cuties.

Vanita- jeez when do you sleep? Wow you are a supermum!!!! And good that you don't have any probs getting Dion to eat LOL!

Congrats on passing level 9 Deb, WTG!!!! I know what you mean, its sad there is sooo much pressure over there for childcare etc, yep there isnt any here. I am thinking of putting Rianna in for 1 day a week for the socialisation issue etc, and she is nearly 3 ( I keep putting it off) The twins went in for one day a week after they turned 2, until kinder That is all my kids go to childcare, other than that my mum b'sits or Dh is home ( he works shift work too) so I believe my kids are quite well rounded KWIM??? Well if Dh isnt under any impression that you must, and if you are the CEO, STUFF EVERYONE ELSE!!!!!!!!!! You need to find a reply to the questions that puts people in their places , I dunno, maybe " so are YOU Al's mother now are you????"

Oh and by the way I dont sleep much LOL. Last night one of the twins was up chuckin most of the night, so I am one berry tired momma today, and DH is working til 7pm, so me and the rugrats, and we cant even go out, :boohoo: and the weather here looks great, perfect for a lovely long walk or bike ride, might go see how Lakeisha is feeling, she hasnt chucked since 6am and has had a little bit of dry toast for brekkie.
Yesterday went shoppign and have bought some of Dions b'day pressies, now need to think about a celebration!!!

We got him a three wheel trike ride on with a trailor, and also for xmas, a double tonka truck set, with a digger and a dump truck ( big ones) we also got a fisher price set with a train and track,a sand pit set ( you know bucket etc) will probably get a sand/water play table that we saw too.So am happy thats taken care of. Also laybyed pressies for Rianna for her bday that we found, so she's taken care of too, just need to start the xmas shopping, the big target and kmart toy sale should be soon.

Sorry for my sporadic dropping in and out, am off at uni and teaching way too much to keep up with this thread you guys talk to much! I am insanely jealous that I can only drop in every now & then but oh well, what can you do?

Just wanted to ask, how many naps and for how long are your 11mo babies sleeping now? Cole is still having a 1hr nap in the morning and 2.5hrs nap after lunch roughly. From memory Lucy had already cut down to just 1x 2hr nap by this age, but Coleman seems to be a much sleepier baby. How about you?

Hi Caz good to see you !!! Dion is up and down with his sleeps too, never sure how much or when I always hope for at least an hour or two, and he sleeps twice a day still. Doesnt seem to make it with just one sleep. So probably all up 3 hrs during the day, on average.

Caz, Pup has 2 sleeps very similar to Cole's. 1 hr in morning and 2.5 in afternoon.

Well, Pup put on 180gms, so he now weighs 8.78kg!!! Wow, what a heavyweight (sarcasm there!!). But at least he put on.

I couldn't believe how much the other bubs in the mum's gp had changed in 2 months. 3 are walking by themselves, all are crawling and the playing....well, there are tears and tantrums already!! Very cute! The bubs still don;t have any concept of playing together, but as all of them are the first baby, this is really the only time when they all see so many other bubs of the same age. They are just fascinated with each other.

Kate, yeah, most of Pup's toys are Fisher price too. I knew of their websote, but didn;'t realise that you could subscribe to an update.

Deb, you are a wonder at the 2nd language. Good on you.

Dion put on 200 gms last month, he just started off as a fat boofa, LOL. Kids dont actually "play" properly together til about 3. Dion was standing up by himself for nearly 5 mintues today, he was looking at a book, and I dont think he even realised he wasnt leaning on something. He has walked to me about once each day for the last few days,( and one was about 7 steps) but when I try to get him to walk to daddy, he sits down and crawls, odd hey!!!

Kate, I got on and subscribed, but as I was browsing I was giggling, as we have sooo many of their toys. You know the house thingy where they crawl through the door?? Rianna got that for her 1st bday and it was new on the market then, Dion loves it, he's always ringing the door bell, and turning the lights on and off. funny.

I had something profound to say and now its gone......buggar.

A friend of mine had just told me she is expecting #2. This was the friend that was pg while I was still TTC #1. And I was so upset that she was pg and I couldn't keep a pg, as she wasn't even really intending to get pg so early. But she is my age, so she should also get a wriggle on about having a family. Her little one is 6 months older than Pup, so it makes sense really that she should be pg with #2 before me. I told her when I found out about her #1, that I should get some pg vibes off her - and it worked!!! So here's hoping it works again!!!

Well, I think that O has come and gone and we did BD for a couple of nights, so hopefully...fingers crossed.....

Hi all. Just a flying visit as I'm busy trying to get organised for Paris. 8 sleeps but who's counting. Only got the $$ to sort out - tickets, passport, insurance etc all done. Just having to wash everythign to pack for both DH and I, and also for the kids to take to Mum's. About to go out and wash and vaccuum the car too, then vaccuum the house, although that will need doing again before we go.

Blake's doing fine although still not sleeping well. I think it's still a teeth issue. :( He's taken to pushing a block trolley around and is sooo cute. I hope he doesn't start walking whilst we're away. Viv started walking 2 days after her first birthday so heres' hoping he does the same so we don't miss it.

Not much other news.

:hug: Hay good luck TTC, I had a friend whom tried for 6 yrs, and I fell pg with the twins, not on purpose, I felt sooo guilty that I was and with 2! and she couldnt seem to get there, but when I was 6 mths pg, she fell pg too!!!! Then they tried IVF for nearly 2 yrs, well I fell pg with Rianna ( again not on purpose) 3 mths later she had a successful IVF implantaion, so we used to joke that I had to be pg for her to fall pg, so it might be the same for you and your friend, you will be pg, when she is!!!!!

Hay - you say you've gotta get a wriggle on because of your age - can I ask how old you are? Im starting to get nervous too, need to get a wriggle on, hoping that I don't need to go through IVF again though. Having a few dramas with DH atm so I would love to have another, but just not sure its the right time to do so....but at the same time, Im worried that if I keep putting it off, I will be "over the hill" in fertility years!! Go see your friend and rub her belly, then send me some of those vibes too!! tee he he!

Rach - my goodness, Im so jealous that you are going to Paris, you lucky lucky girl!! How long will you be gone? Have a wonderful time!!

Not much going on here, just another stinking cold for Coby, he has tonsilitis too I think, so that's great!! Only 4 more sleeps till he's one!! I cannot believe how quickly this year has gone, and cannot believe what a beautiful strong little man I have, considering how fragile he was when he was born....

Party preparations are in full swing, so I best go and get to it!!

Bel! I can't believe Coby's one in four days! It's crazy that our babies are growing up so quickly. I guess I'm not really focussing on Blake's birthday yet - that's what the week after Paris is for! LOL Mind you I have bought them their presents - Viv's birthday is the day before Blake's. It's a little lighter on this year in the way of presents:1) because there's now two of them, and 2) we're spending a fortune on Paris, but they are not missing out! I'm sure we'll buy them something there too. We'll be away for 10 days, with 8 of them in Paris, the other two will be travelling. I guess that's the way it is when you go to the other side of the planet. It's going to take a while.

Blake had a crappy night last night. In fact I ended up getting into bed with him at 11.45pm. I went to bed about 10.45pm and within the hour I'd been up to him about 5 or 6 times and had alredy given him some Nurofen which normally knocks him out. I think its his teeth. He's such a sook with the discomfort. I feel for him, I really do. I just think he's quite sensitive. Poor little mite! At least we slept really well. He stirred a little about 5.20am when I replugged him, then he slept until 7.15am - his normal time.

Can't remember who suggested it but I'll have to check out the fischer price website again. It will give me ideas of presents for Blake as people keep asking me what to get him.

Kate.. countdowns, let me see... 7 sleeps until we leave for Paris, 17 sleeps until we're home, 21 sleeps until DD's birthday, 22 sleeps until DS's birthday. What a busy month!

As for Paris, yes it's finally starting to seem real. My cousin sms'd me yesterday morning and she's booked her flight to come over on the Tuesday. Then I sms'd my friend in Belgium and he's driving to Paris (approx 4 hours) on the Wednesday. I'm so excited about seeing my cousin in Paris. She's been to Oz 4times and now I'm meeting her on what will be closer to 'her turf'. Can't wait. As for my Belgian friend. I've never met him IRL. I met him in a UK chat room 4 years ago just after my cousin's trip to Oz. She and I would often chat on MSN and also in the chat room. It was there I met him and we've been friends since then. He's now got a nearly 2yo daughter and since we first 'met' I've had Blake. It's going to be so strange but exciting to meet him face to face. As for the rest of Paris... I'm getting out the travel guides again... Mental note, revisit my Paris thread on BB as some of the girls left me a list of things to see and do.

Vivienne woke up with a tummy ache this morning. I'm not sure if it was a real one or whether it was just a bit of separation anxiety - thinking about us going away. She seemed to brighten up after some breakfast and some quiet time at home. She went off to school about 10.45am as she was feeling well enough. I hope she'll be ok. I'm just not going to push her. If she says she's not well, she can have as much time and as many cuddles as she needs.

Kate I have no idea about back braces for lower backs. I had a shoulder brace when I was pg with Blake but it didn't seem to make much difference so I didn't wear it. Hope your back doesn't cause you too much grief.

Paris has to be delayed due to stuff going on at DH's work. FFS! It's a week away today that we were meant to fly. Now they've changed it to July sometime.

I'm annoyed and a little numb. It's totally out of my hands. I'm shaking my head in disbelief, but what can I do? Nothing! Oh well, at least we'll be in Melbourne for the kids' birthdays.
