made honey soy chicken tonight...YUM!!
Woo hoo! New thread :)
The sauce sounds good Belfie.
Astrolady - occasionally they have interest free purchase periods. I think it's a couple of times a year. It may be worth going to a demo to see if you like it, then having a demo at home to convince you DH when there's an opportunity to buy interest free. My Mum came to a demo and was 100% certain they wouldn't buy one, but they did, through the interest free thingy.
I haven't made much this week. Boiled eggs a couple of times :) it's great for that, to be able to walk away and come back when done, rather than watching a pot boil, but not what a $2k machine is for. I feel like I should be using for more. I made dip today when I had the munchies, but I think the cream cheese may have been bad as I reacted to it. Either that or I really do have to give up dairy :( I was going to cook dinner but I cbf and it's too late now. I have half a lemon left over though, so maybe I should make some lemon custard....
Clearly you should :D
I've been meaning to make hommus all week, but now my feet hurt and I wish to celebrate my close relationship with the sofa  so I think Hommus can wait till tomorrow.
Honey soy chicken sounds yum Olive
has anyone made Quirky Cooking's green smoothie?
EDIT: i'm really not sure why Hommus warranted a capital H on the second mention but not the first. Guess I'm tired.
im still fairly new to the thermomix-ing world, i got my machine in december and im totally in love with him!
rissotto, bolognaise sauce, custard, smoothies, wholemeal muffins, wholemeal pizza dough and other bits and bobs are regulars here.
mh DH has a few food issues, not 100% what we havnt had him looked at properly, so being able to make whole meal biscuits, muffins, pizza bases, etc quickly and easily has been amazing for me.
i had to find a supplier to get wholemeal bakers flour to perfect my pizza dough but its mastered now!
Yep I am going to one on Tuesday night. Same friend is holding another. At the moment there is interest on the payment plan. Paying an extra $300 on top of the RRP. I wouldn't be able to find the minimum $15 a week at the moment anyway unless I found myself a job LOL.
Belfie - I make the green smoothies most mornings it is absolutely delicious!!
I also made the raw fruit cereal this morning - yummo too. Plus hommus last week and some cacao balls - love them!!!!
Have to do more this week. Trying to go towards a more paleo diet and low fat so trying a bit of everything
We had shredded beef wraps for tea tonight... Delish!!
Mrs NB - what do you put in your smoothies? I want to start drinking more veggie juices.
Mrs NB - do you think the green smoothie would still work without the dates and nuts? I'm really keen to try one but I'm wondering if it'll just end up like a normal smoothie IYKWIM? I guess it'd still be green at least ;)
Yeah would still work but probably wouldn't keep you as full for as long as the original one does?
OMG I want one!!!
I'd never heard of them until last year (just after i bought a Breville mixer thingy ), now i'm wondering if i should sell my Breville and invest in one of these!?
My cousin is loaning me hers while she goes OS for three weeks and i'm so excited about what i can do in that time. Dinners and the motivation to make them are zero for me at the moment but i'm a bit excited with my new (temporary) toy.
Last night i made the Apricot Chiken (rissotto style) and it was yummm.
Going to go sit and have a cuppa and figure out tonights dinner now :D
Any tips ladies?
Start freezing fruit for fruity dream. It rocks.
Rocky dream is the best. I make with ground chia instead of eggwhite and it tastes great.
Chocolate custard is another favourite. That never last in out house. DH doesnt like custard so I dont know where it goes. The gremlins, presumably.
I just bought a whole lot of fruit & vegies. I want to start making green smoothies, so I'll freeze some avacado & banana overnight. I have spinach and kale & I'll throw in some berries, an egg and whatever else. Lets hope it tastes good. I'm also going to stew some fruit - rhubarb, berries, plums. Maybe a bit of lemon. I did it with a whole mandarin once and it was surprisingly yummy.
Tonight I plan on making an all in one meal. Steamed salmon, green beans and mashed sweet potato. Better go. TMX is calling :)
Well the Thermomix demo I was supposed to be going to tomorrow night has been cancelled. Maybe someone is trying to tell me something, that is the 3rd I have missed out on now LOL. Another friend has one booked for the 22nd so hopefully that one sticks.
Lol astro, bummer! Don't eat too much before you go because you get about 6 courses to sample.
We make brekky smoothies too, skim milk, banana, blueberries, linseed (flaxseed), magnesium and vital greens powder.
I made the hot chocolate last night and it was very dark and strong! Next time I think I will try 30g of cocoa instead. I added 1 heaped teaspoon of cornflour and it was a great texture. I can highly recommend you try it.
I also made a chicken and vegetable pie last night - made the filling in the thermie, but the chicken was kinda pulverised by the end of the cooking. Next time I think I will steam the chicken and make a white sauce in the base.
Bloom - if you put the chicken pieces in the steamer basket whilst cooking, that will prevent it being pulverised. It's what I do when I'm making chicken soup.
Last night I was tempted to not cook. Too tired. But I made myself, so I made an adaption of a chicken, vegie & rice dish I found on a blog. I cooked the rice in a mix of coconut milk and water whilst steaming the chicken & veggies. I did make a sauce to marinate the chicken in but it may have been better as a sauce to pour over. It wasnt as good as the salmon the night before. Still, it was better than getting fish n chips. It's interesting working out the timings too, as the recipe was for a whole chicken but I just cooked a chicken breast. Anyway, I have left overs for lunch.
The green smoothies are yummy. I just make sure there's lots of tasty fruit to disguise the spinach & kale.
I just took the GF coconut and banana loaf out of the oven and it's collapsed! Just waiting for it to cool before cutting it to see if it's doughy inside. Might be one of those things where the TMX didn't provide enough aeration :(
ETA - yep, yukky doughy bleh. Doesn't tast good either, so it's getting chucked. I'm not making that again. It uses psyllium husk instead of egg. oh well, we live and learn.
I used chia seed gel in place of egged for apple fritters and they were doughy too :(
Made southern Indian curry for tea, was nice but needed chilli in it!!
Thermomix has hd a work out lady night and today :D
Made pumpkin soup nd fresh rolls for tea last night, today I've made mayo, apple and oat fritters, cheese and bacon scrolls and yogurt!!
I think i have perfected the Macaroni cheese for me... I could possibly live on it.
Ambersky - I became addicted to the Dinner Spinner mac & cheese and put on too much weight
MNB - I havent put cocoa in my green smoothies yet. I'm thinking of getting some crio bru and trying that. I blitzed a heap of veggies and froze it into ice blocks. It saved them going off before I used them. Now all I have to do it throw in some cubes with fruit. I'm finding I sleep better on days I have them.
Ambersky I love the mac and cheese I make in there!
This weekend I've done a chorizo risotto (basic recipe I altered) pw's cinnamon scrolls, Hainan chicken, my apple crumble muffins, dulce de leche, hommus, yoghurt. I even made pita chips for their lunch boxes :)
I am making a chicken pot pie and the smell is making me drool. The chicken and veggies mix is staying hot in the Thermoserver whilst I cook sweet potato. I'm going to mash it and put it on top. It's not a 'real' pie, as it has no crust, but it should be yummy. I adapted it from one I found on the recipe community. Naturally, I chose not to follow the recipe properly :) I just used what I had. I really hope it tastes good.
I had dessert first. I made baked rice pudding from some left over rice and scoffed that earlier. Very yum. Bad for me, but yum.
Thermomixing today. So far I've made a green smoothie and boiled eggs. I'm now going to make some chocolate brownies from a Paleo recipe, so chocolate, avocado, honey, eggs and coconut flour. It's probably GAPS friendly too. It's from the tgipaleo blog. I hope they're nice.
I had a major acid reaction to food last week. My face looks like a pizza and my skin felt itchy and burning. We think it's onions, so I ended up throwing out half the chicken pot pie :( it was really yummy too. It may have also been the dried fruit in the rice pudding, so the rest of that went in the bin as well.... What a waste.
I was going to make the brownies yesterday but made chicken soup instead :) I also have more chicken stock cooking in the slow cooker. I'm cooking it 24 hours this time to get aas any nutrients as possible.
Ok the brownies were yuk :(
Now I feel like something chocolatey. Like magic bean chocolate cake...
I just bought peppermind chocolate. Bad idea. I have no self control when it comes to that stuff. Oops.
Yum chicken soup, can't wait to make mine again!!
Tash did you make the chocolate cake??
Belle mmmm chocolate!!
Made rice pudding tonight as I had left over evaporated milk...awesome!!
I didn't, no. I've bought the rest of the ingredients though. I'd run out of cocoa. I really feel like baking but I don't want to eat it. I do want to play with modelling chocolate for icing, so I'm wondering if I can make it into cupcakes.
I've made the foccacia in the EDC recently and it worked really well. Cost less than a $1 I reckon for the ingredients but my local Brumbies sells them for $5. Super saving.
Also made custard a lot. And hot chocolate too. Both with dextrose (doing the whole Sweet Poison no sugar thing). And this week I'm doing the butter chicken and steaming rice in it too. Plus I may try naan...
I love days like today! We are heading out for dinner to a friends. So I cook them dinner before hand. Today I mad a risotto for one with leftover salami creamed corn (made my own from frozen of course ;)) and fresh basil. It's in the thermoserve resting now while they have baths/showers. YAY!
I thought I'd never do it. But I'm gobsmacked it actually worked...
I made the Thai Green Chicken Curry from the official community... I tweaked it a little so the kids could eat it and because I like a thick curry... But it's amazing. And nommy! I would suggest thigh pieces over breast and we did breast, and whilst it's good breast would taste better. I hate dishes that require browning in the TMX it just doesn't taste good. But this curry tastes as good as if I'd done it in a pot! If you want my other tweaks let me know :)
I do :D
I added 600g Chicken
About 300-400g vegetables
A whole 400ml can of Coconut Cream and a splosh of hot water.
Chicken Powder instead of Vegetable Powder
Brown Sugar (tastes more like palm sugar which is the traditional ingredient)
If using breast let it rest for a good 20 minutes in the thermoserver so that when you take it out the chicken should be just cooked (even a tiny bit pink in the middle) by the time the 20 minutes is up it's cooked through but not dry. If using thigh it will be perfect as it's not as thick.
The vegetables I used were Eggplant, carrot, snow peas, zucchini.
1 green chilli deseeded for less heat for the babies ;)
I hardly ever buy breasts these days!!
Thanks rouge!!
We have a new member too :D
Heya biartches! :p
So I went to a demo last week and am veering towards getting one as I'm getting increasingly disgruntled every time I have to get the chopping board out (and wash it). Particularly loved the beetroot salad she made. Is it silly to spend $2K so you can make a beetroot salad? Man, I love beetroot.
I was a little concerned that her mushroom risotto was really bland and I reckon it's because the TMX didn't fry the mushrooms so not as much flavour. What are people's thoughts? I'm a savoury girl, not really a dessert girl, so would mainly be cooking dinners in it (as well as anything with beetroot :) )
