hello, I'm the first one in here, wheres eveyone else?!?

My bubba is 11 days old today nad I am enjoying it so much so far, even getting some sleep!

Hi Saffy- congratulations!!
My bubs was born on the 12th of Jan. I was using the baby's due in Jan group quite early in my pregnancy, but stopped as I was only coming on here really sporadically at the time.
This is baby no 2 for me and I am really enjoying him too. Glad you are getting some sleep- we are too and the middle of the night wake ups don't seem so bad this time around.

Hi I'm here :) DS was born on 7th Jan. Nicnac like you I'm enjoying it 2nd time around. But I'd forgotten how persistent feeding on demand a newborn is lol.
Saffy great to see you, so happy you've had your sweet bub. Glad you're getting some sleep.

dusty- can you believe i went 13 days over like you? I never could have imagined it, but got a normal birth so was stoked.

Last night was brilliant- bf at 9.30pm,2am,5.30am and 7.30- can live with that!

Do your older children sleep through the night girls?

Hi all! DS was born 15 Jan and is a little doll. Only got him out of hospital two days ago (on oxygen due to cardiopulmonary hypertension) so I am all rested up.. I remember being far more tired first time round ;)

Well i hope you all dont mind if i post in here...i was in the due Jan group as my little girl was due 21 Jan but she stopped growing at 31 weeks and was delivered at 35 weeks...Indiana was born 21 dec and weighed 4lb 1oz and was in special care for 10 days...she was 2.6kg at her last weigh though, so she is doing really well.
she is now 6 weeks old (corrected age 2 weeks). Im a sigle 40 year old mum and i have two amazing boys aged 12 and 9 who are so helpfull and supportive.

My little princess was born on 24/1 (one day before her sisters 2nd birthday). I was induced at 36+1 because she had stopped growing. She's still in the SCN. We are hoping to bring her home mid Feb. it's so hard with her not being here :(

I had my little man on 9 January.
So far he has been excellent. Just feeding and sleeping. I must have the hang of it now as he is number 3.

I have 3boys - a just 3year old, 13month old and the new one. Things can be a little hectic at meal times or if I am BF and the older 2 want something, but so far we are managing.

Hi everyone,

My ds (first baby) was born on the 25th of Jan. I had a quick labour and feel really positive about it all. Unfortunately I was group b strep positive and didn't get my antibiotics in time and my ds contracted the infection. He finished his antibiotics last night so fingers crossed will be in the all clear when we see dr on Tuesday. He is a very placid baby and only upset when he gets a tummy ache from his medicine. We are very much in love with him.

Finally I have 5 minutes to stick my head in here!!! My DS (our first bubba!) was born on 11 Jan. The birth wasn't what I expected - Induction, 10 hours of labour and still only 3cm and ended with an emergency C-Section. The recovery was a lot harder than I expected and my milk took a long time to come in. Once it did come in, I got Mastitis so bad my milk turned green :( DS is now fully formula fed and is sleeping really well and putting on the pud. Most nights he has a feed between 10.30pm-midnight, then sleeps for about 4.5 hours and then goes back down for about 4 hours so we are really lucky. During the day he feeds about every 3.5hours. DH has had the last 5 weeks off work but goes back on Thursday, he is FIFO so im really not looking forward to having him away for a week at a time.

Also found out that my pram is bloody heavy today.... Uh oh!!!

Chody - Wishing your little one all the strength in the world so they can come home soon.

Amy- I haven't attempted our pram yet, but I htink i might be in the same boat as you. I am practising car capsule this week!

What prams have u got girls?

We got given a Peg Perego Skate from our next door neighbours that they had finished with, very generous as they wouldn't take any money for it and it is worth a good amount of money. I think Amy got a bugaboo??

We got the baby jogger city mini. It's very light which I love. I'm a little nervous about the capsule though. Today is my first outing by myself. Let's hope we survive lol

Yeah I got the bugaboo donkey. It's amazing to use and do handy having the shopping basket on the side but heavy to lift.

keta- my sister got that one too, she loves it.
I haven't been out by myself yet, scary!!

We survived the first trip out by ourselves. I had trouble with the capsule which stressed me a bit but in sure with practice it will become second nature.
Ds does not need anymore antibiotics and dr happy with his progress. Yay. He does have reflux but going to try changing my diet to see if that helps.

We also have a baby jogger citi mini. We had the single version for DD1 and loved it so much we've now brought the double version. Both weigh barely anything and I love that it folds and unfolds so easily. We've never used a capsule with the pram, we just used it as is.

Oh and Keta - DD1 had severe reflux. If you want any tips please ask. Luckily it looks like DD2 doesn't have it (so far).

EDIT - oh and good news today.DD2 put on 72g yesterday and the doc now wants her to try suck feeds at each feed (so try BF or bottle before doing a gavage feed).

Hello everyone, I haven't been around BB much the last year but now am needing a bit more info and support.

DS has been difficult to settle the last few days (nights are ok). He keeps getting very overtired very quickly. It's taking me up to 2hours to settle him to sleep. Not sure how to sustain this with a toddler.

Chody hope your little one is home with you in no time with such a positive progress!!
Keta, was it pretty obvious your bubs had reflux? My DS seems to struggle quite a bit with his digestive processes and won't settle till it seems every ounce of gas is gone. Thought maybe a touch of reflux?? But at three weeks old maybe it's just his tummy doing its thing?

Thought I'd pop in and say hi :)

Our DS Daley arrived 2 weeks early on the 18th of Jan. Things are going fairly great. His birth was quite a rough trot as he was direct OP and his head was asynclitic. I also ended up with a retained placenta and PPH of 1.7L. But despite all that, breastfeeding etc is going great. Poor little bubba has had his first cold unfortuntely though. Beauty of having sick siblings :(

I've also just found out I have retained products but not showing any signs on infection so not really getting any help with it at the moment. I'm being told mostly to just leave it as is. Not really liking the idea of that but not much I can do I guess. Other than a few hiccups its all good. Daley is a sweet little boy... I stare it him a lot and wonder how he came to be here with us.

Chody - *waves* Nice to see you in here hun and to see your little miss is growing well!! Won't be long and you'll have her home with you :)

We dont have a pram as yet. I've been wearing Daley in the wrap where I can otherwise just carrying him everywhere. We do have a crappy only stroller if we really need it.

Sara - nice to see you here :) congratulations on the birth of Daley! Boo about the retained products, fingers crossed you don't get an infection!

Nic - my bub has reflux as well :( he is fully formula fed so we have just put thickener in his bottles and that seems to be helping a lot. We also have to make sure he burps, if we try for a whole and he doesn't and we give up and put him down, he vommits :( I've also been told to buy a wedge of firm foam from Clark rubber and put it under the top half of the basinette to prop them up a little and it helps. You can't tell them that's what you are using it for though or they won't sell you it. Apparently they say it isn't safe but it was out paediatrician that told us to do it so I think they are just covering their butts.

Chody - I hope your little one is coming along in leaps and bounds x

AFM - hubby is flying back to work today :-( I feel really scared about being one my own with Quinn for a week at a time but I'm just going to have to get used to it. I think I just need to VE sure prepared in his morning naps to get dinner ready and do washing/ tidy etc so that I can relax a bit in the arvo. I'd love to be able to leave the house work but our house is on the market so it needs to be spic and span all the time. Also after being so I'll while I was pregnant I never got the nesting bug but I certainly have it now!

Nic - I suspected reflux because Austin gags and spews then swallows it which results in a scream. He groans a lot I'm is sleep too and has explosive poos (as in shoots across the room if i ont get nappy back on in time). Dr took one look and confirmed it.

Chody - ope your dd is going ok. Any tips for the reflux would be ,ugh appreciated. Today has been a shocker. So far I am trying to have ds propped up for s.eeping, I've cut cows milk from my diet and no chocolate. My dh has severe reflux so I, not sure it's what I'm eating but more he has his dads tummy.

Amy - it's hard having dh away but I think if you kep having meals in the freezer it will help. Take any help that's offered too. My dh has been gone or three days and it already feels.ike forever.

Sara - my ds James was born on the 18th Jan too :)

3 weeks old today. :) i think he has silent reflux too. He's also very windy. He will not sleep in his cradle so he sleeps in his rocker and i sleep on the couch. lol i don't want him disturbing dh. He wakes up about twice during the night. which isn't too bad but i'm dead tired and he likes to be held. alot. it's exhausting. He's feeding very well now! For anyone not in the know, James was born with pneumothorax and spent 15.5 days in hospital. He had trouble suck feeding because he could not breath and eat at the same time and it made him tired. But he's doing great now!

He hasn't had any outings yet. My dh has been doing the school run this week but i'm guessing next week i'll be doing it.

Hi all, been a busy week with visitors here and trying to get outings done while DH still at home, he goes back to work on Tuesday, I even managed to get to hairdresser!

Keta- explosive poos sounds like fun, better wear an apron while changing.
Sara- sounds like you had a rough start, my sister had retained products as well they, went by themselves ( although I think she was on antibiotics) and she didn't ever have a major bleed.

chody- what did you call your baby? Sorry, I think i missed your birth announcement, as I was in hospital nad now i have baby brain- hope the feeding has gone well.
Amy- hope you are coping well without your DH, its amazing how much help they give, I am worried that all i will do is feed and change nappies when he is gone, might be a good chance to use those frozen meals, i have heaps that I made ages ago.
Dusty- any improvement on the settling?- what are you trying?? DH and I have no idea, we are winging it, just had a few unsettled nights so am trying a swaddle wrap tonight. It must be so difficult with a toddler as wel, how is she adjusting to the new arrival??

hi anyone i missed, I am doing this in a hurry!

We are going well, the BF is great, my nipples are finally less sore. We don't have reflux here but I will say my little one is a spewer, she was from the start, I am imagining a lot of laundry in the months to come. She burps after feeds but nothing much comes up and then 30mins to an hour later she spews everywhere which wakes her up- annoying!

Hi all, sounds we are bumbling along getting to know our little ones' quirks.
I won't respond to everyone individually cause I'm on my phone.
My bubs is having trouble settling during the day too Dusty- there is lots of feeding to sleep happening in this house !! He also particularly likes being fed to sleep laying on the bed, cheeky monkey. I've had the luxury of DH being home and entertaining our DD while I feed but that is all changing when he goes back to work in a couple of days.
Our DS has a para-umbilical and umbilical hernia and our GP has given us a referral to a surgeon for him. We are thinking of going to a paediatrician for a second opinion first- not keen for my little bubba to go under the knife unless its absolutely necessary.

Sorry this is a quick me post - but I'm kinda distracted today :)
Today I'm getting to 'room in' with DD2. Providing all goes well she will be home tomorrow!!! :) it's so nice having her with me all day (I'm hoping I'll feel the same tonight lol). She's currently fast asleep on me - the first time we've been able to do this. I'm actually a bit emotional about it lol. It's not something ill be encouraging all the time as I like my babies to sleep in their own beds where possible, but its so nice for both of us. She had been unsettled and fell straight to sleep once she could hear my heart :)

That sounds fantastic Chody!! Congratulations, sounds like you have both done really well and i hope your little one leaves the hospy with you tomorrow!

Well we're home! She now weighs 2.35kg - just over 500g more than she did at birth. What a little piggy lol.

Just a question for you all, how much are your babies sleeping? I'm not sure if its something to do with being prem, but DD2 literally only seems to wake for feeds and then goes straight back to sleep. I was really worried yesterday as I thought she'd be up all night, but she wasn't. I'm not complaining (I know it'll change), but I'm surprised. DD1 never slept this much, even in the beginning!

Its normal for a prem, wait until she is term plus a wek or two and you should notice a difference. Make the most of it! Also, if she has been in SCN they are often 'trained' to wake for feeds at a certain time, a good side effect!

That's what I thought Saffy. I'm definitely making the most of it. What's the bet she 'wakes up' just as DH goes back to work? (He's just started his 2 weeks off). Oh and she is trained quite well too. Pretty much doesn't stir til 3.5-4 hrs since last feed.

chody - congrats on being home! I've never had a preemie but my last baby was on a great schedule after being in the SCN for 5 days. lol This time i have not been so lucky. My little man is up every 2 hours. Although...last night i don't remember getting up between 2am and 5.30 so he must have slept a bit longer! lets hope he keeps getting better.

oh i forgot what i was going to say. Had baby J weighed on wednesday. he is 30g above his birth weight. Is that ok? the nurse didn't indicate that anything was wrong. I seems ok to me, but wasn't sure. I think he lost 130g while in hospital. He's 4 weeks old today.
