Re: Homebirth General Discussion #22
Sending beautiful birthing vibes your way, lady-bug. What a lovely way to welcome spring!
-
Re: Homebirth General Discussion #22
Subbing and stalking too Phy!
Was it you that asked what we'd done to set up or kellbell? I thought of something simple that I love to do. I put a mattress protector down then sheets, then a mattress protector then sheets, so if I birth or mess the bed it only needs one layer stripped and I'm straight back into it, no waiting for someone to make it or worse making it yourself :)
Kmart have good cheap waterproof mattress protectors for $7 single and $29 queen :)

Re: Homebirth General Discussion #22
Great idea !
Hubby has been dreaming the baby is born on our bed :-)
In his dream we needed a new bed
-
Re: Homebirth General Discussion #22
It's a simple idea but my number one lol
-
Re: Homebirth General Discussion #22
My MW this time around told me that sheet trick and it's great! Even though we put down those waterproof hospital cloths when I went to bed after the birth I still managed to bleed a bit on the sheet so it was nice for that to have clean sheets in an instant.
My baby is already over a week old!!
-
Re: Homebirth General Discussion #22
No way meow! It just goes too quickly
-
Re: Homebirth General Discussion #22
Hi everyone... subbing back into this thread!!
I did the same a tegam but instead of mattress protectors I just used wool blankets I bought from the op shops and washed in a hot wash!!! It is soooooo good ripping off the top layer after birth and having fresh sheets!!!
-
Re: Homebirth General Discussion #22
Oooo, I like this sheet idea. Thank peeps, I shall try to get it done today. I bought a new waterproof mattress protector with all intentions of using it to prevent my waters from leaking onto my mattress. I hadn't thought that far ahead to the post birth part!

Re: Homebirth General Discussion #22
Hello Everyone :)
Its been quite a while since I posted on the BB pages!
I'm happy to share that we're expecting baby #5 and again planning a birth at home. I never thought I would be able to have the much dreamed homebirth but I found a Midwife who is willing to support me despite my history of 2 retained placenta's and PPH's.
I'm 20 weeks now and due in January!
I've been putting the most work I've ever put into a pregnancy with lots of debriefing, visualisations, meditation and birth preparation. I suffered quite a lot of trauma and disappointment with my last birth and wasn't expecting to become pregnant quite so soon. So its given me the opportunity to deal with the issues that I may have been avoiding up until now.
I look forward to preparing for the journey with you all again :)
Many blessings,
Sara

Re: Homebirth General Discussion #22
Sara.... Have you changed your user name?
Welcome and yay for someone to add to the Homebirth list. It was looking poorly after the September rush. And double yay for number 5, I'm not on my own :) so glad you could find a MW to support you xx
Afm: not enjoying being due later in thè month lol! Just had our first September birth and ladybug is still MIA, I'm getting a bit ready to meet this little one. Trying to remain calm and even minded about waiting longer but knowing one of my 4 was already here and the other 3 were born within the next week is making me impatient. What if I go to term? The pregnancy has been so different what if the delivery is so different?? Ahhhhhhhhh and I don't have the pool yet (the MW forgot it Monday) so I don't really want the baby tonight.... Do I? Lol
-
Homebirth General Discussion #22
Welcome Ilithyia! Number 5 - wow how lovely!!! Congratulations :) I hope your birth is everything you need and want it to be xxxx
Was it a week ago I posted saying I was feeling great? Today I'm completely over it lol...baby is fully engaged and I'm sore and tired and breastfeeding DS is torturous and I JUST WANT TO MEET THIS BABY!
Tegam - maybe you'll beat me to it!!
-
Re: Homebirth General Discussion #22
Yes Sara, it is you! I thought I knew 'Sara' and I remember yours daughters names. Just needed to see your sig to be sure! Congratulations on your pregnancy! I look forward to reading more of your journey and offering any support I can through your pregnancy.

Thank you for the warm welcome :)
Yes its me Sara (also previous username ;) Tegam :)
I see you went back for number 5! That's wonderful news! And so close now!
e_p - Thank you for the welcome! Technically, this baby will make #4 in the house as we lost a little guy in 2011. So its baby #5 to us but I'll only have to kid wrangle 4 lol
Lots of September EDD's!! Very exciting month for you all! I wonder if we will see any other newbies come in otherwise we'll have a bit of wait on our hand till January!

Re: Homebirth General Discussion #22
I like the belly cast tegam!
Lady bug, I hope your having a baby, of holding one lovely. Many blessings to you!
Afm- ladies I am really struggling. Eddie is a reflux baby I think. He is worse after feeds, pulls off and screams. Often wakes up 10-20 mins after I lay him down to sleep, to scream. Poor little lamb... It is breaking my heart and breaking my mind to watch him. I am so tired. Beyond tired. We don't have anyone really to help or come hold the baby whilst I get a sleep. My sister is nearby, but she is so busy herself that I don't feel I can ask her and my dad and step mum are really stressed. Anyway. I am trying to give a small bit of water before a feed to see if that makes a difference. He seemed marginally better tonight. Only needed to be resettled once. Anyway, I just want a bit of sympathy :(.
Sara - nice to see you here honey. Fx for a beautiful homebirth for you this time. Xx.

Re: Homebirth General Discussion #22
Hi ladies, she's here. Born on Tuesday on her due date, birth was amazing. All perfect but we have since transferred to special care as she was having some breathing issues, they have since cleared on their own and I'm hoping we get to go back home today. She is just glorious!! She was 8pd 4. And is feeding well. I'll catch up with everything at some point. Thanks for all your thoughts xxx
-
Re: Homebirth General Discussion #22
Yay lady bug!!!! Wonderful news! Sorry she has been a little sick. Fx you can get back into your cocoon really soon.
-

-
Re: Homebirth General Discussion #22
Congratulations Ilithyia. Wishing you a blissful pregnancy and birth xx
And congratulations Lady bug!! Wonderful to hear the birth was amazing. I'm so sorry your little one hasn't been well though and you had to transfer. I hope you're all snuggled home soon.
Sounds like tough times Bella. I know you've been trying so hard with elimination diets and everything so it must be so hard to still be getting so little rest.

Re: Homebirth General Discussion #22
Congrats ladybug on your little girl! So sorry she gave you a scare. Hope you're home v soon. What did you call her? Looking forward to hearing about your amazing birth.
Congrats Sara, and so pleased you're preparing for a HB. January is a great month to have a baby!
Bella - hugs. I have no advice, but this too shall pass. Please do ask you sister and Dad and stepmom, even though you think they're busy. They would probably want you to!
Afm, we are chugging along. DD3 is divine, I swear it's her fault I started ovulating before any of the others! I'm still quite keen for another, but not in a hurry. DP is studying hard and I have never been so busy. I don't think I sit down until 7.30pm every day and some nights I'm finishing work. :/ We have DD3's christening in a few weeks and I'm so looking forward to it, despite the extra work it will bring!

Re: Homebirth General Discussion #22
Congratulations ladybug. I hope you and your little miss are home now and enjoying all those fresh newborn cuddles.
Tegam love the belly cast, I wish I did one.
Congratulations Sara. I hope you have a beautiful home birth.
Bella I'm sorry to hear Eddie is having troubles. These 3rd babies seem to give us a run for our money don't they. I hope you find a solution soon.

Re: Homebirth General Discussion #22
We are back home, got home last night thank goodness. I was starting to go crazy in there. I have no idea how those mumma's who's babies need to be in special care for long times cope, not sure I could. Anyways she is perfectly fine and we are just starting to get settled into feeding.
-
Re: Homebirth General Discussion #22
So happy for you to be home ladybug. At some stage we need stats and story but you can be off the hook for a little longer.
My poor MW just text, she ha had three mammoth days with another client and needs to go to bed but she wanted to check I was ok first :) poor women. This baby isn't going anywhere

Re: Homebirth General Discussion #22
Hi girls, I didn't know where to share how excited I am. I just had the best nights sleep in so many months, that it doesn't matter that I was awake before 6am, cos I actually got to sleep for more than a 20min block overnight! I eliminated eggs and I am not sure if it was that, or doing lots of other things like elevating his bed, but I have just had soooo much sleep comparatively, that I feel amazing! Yay for me, that is all! Lol!
-
Re: Homebirth General Discussion #22
Woohoo bella. How exciting and yes wow we don't need much sleep do we so when we finally get enough it sends us on such a high! I'm
So happy for you. Now if I could just catheterise myself so I didn't have to wee every 30mins overnight id get some more sleep too :)
-
Re: Homebirth General Discussion #22
Ilithya: Welcome back  I love it when some of the old crew come back!
Tegam: i felt so bad for my IM when i was pregnant last time...she had just been with a woman all night and all day and had a late dinner with her partner...and then i called  and with DD2 she was with someone else, needed to go home for a rest (after a whole day and evening with the woman), got home, fell asleep for half an hour...and then i called hahaha. i felt bad at that time for the other birhting mama as i had DD2 birthed and everything and she was still going...that must of sucked knowing about me lol.
Bella: ahhh sleep, glorious sleep! so glad that you got some. it is quite amazing how good you feel after some decent sleep. i think after awhile, with so much sleep deprivation you actually forget that you can function normally and be alert and perky haha. i am still hanging out for that moment haha.
-
Re: Homebirth General Discussion #22
lady-bug - congratulations!!! Glad you're back home again and hope you and bub are doing well xxx
Bella - yay for a good nights sleep!! Hope those few things you're trying are still helping Eddie xx
AFM - just put DS down for his nap and now hoping to have a baby in my arms before the day is over...tightenings now about 6-7mins apart and starting to get bitey...I know I haven't been around here much but would really appreciate any vibes sent our way for a safe and gentle birth...our IRL village is tiny and I'm feeling vulnerable xxx
