BFN but no AF!!!??

ok.. soo i think ive been rather pacient.. i had the first day of my period 3rd sept.. bd like crazy.. due for AF 30 Sept.. now its 3 Oct and no AF... tried a few different HPT and got BFN continually including today..

any one else ever had this prob and ended up positive?

i have symptoms but they could be AF symstoms.. and i am sooooo frustrated.. over the negative bit now i just want my AF so i can move on to the TTC bit again! hehehehehe

Hi - I am in the same boat as you!!! I'm on CD 37!!!! and only BFNs - so frustrating! Im pretty sure i'm not UTD (we didn't try very hard this cycle as i had the flu) I have some strange and very mild cramping but nothing else that tells me i'm pg or that AF is coming!

As encouragement - there are people who don't get BFPs via POAS (my mum never did with me!)I guess if AF doesn't show up soon visit the docs for a blood test!

Unfortunately this is all a big waiting game.... very frustrating!

After going off the pill my body went a bit crazy and my first cycle was 47 days or so. I got my BFP the next cycle which was shorter.

Controlfreak the month we concieved DD, DH was really sick with the flu and we hardly BD at all so I didn't think I could be pg, but I was! It only takes one time!


Amsta, have you been TTC long? If you've been on the pill it can take a while for your body to get back to normal, have you been charting??

UPDATE: Well its CD 40 and still no AF and a BFN with a Crystal Clear POAS. I have no idea what my body is doing. In my only other long cycle in 9 months I had terrible pains and backache etc and only got to 34 days! I'm going CRAZY!:wall:

I really feel for you all. I had this happen before conceiving my DD. I went 3 mths without AF, but had BFN's. The dr was about to do some testing, when wham the worst AF I have ever had got me. It was long and yucky, but next month I fell preg.

All the best ladies, here's hoping they are false negatives. I think a blood test would be the best bet, as I have heard of BFP's from blood but not pee.

with this pregnancy AF was three weeks late before I got a BFP. I went for a blood test when it was 2 weeks late and that was BFN along with the HPT. A week later when AF still hadn't come I POAS and it was faint positive so went for another BT and it was positive. Talk about confusing. I was pretty sure we weren't pg because we hadn't tried very often in this cycle but like Kristin said, it only takes once!! Hehehe. I really hope you get that BFP :pray: I was at the same point as you Amsta, just wanting AF to come so we could try again!

Hi all.. yes i have been on the pill but off for three months before trying this month.. this is the first month of trying so i am very confident that the symptoms that im feeling are all due to having an over due period.

thank you all for your stories it is soo great to be able to talk to someone.. my DH has gown up in a family of boys.. and i dont want to talk to my friends until we are UTD..

NIk you have given my a huge amount of confidence.. although i wont be upset if im not as there are plenty of other months to try but wishing id just get my AF so i can try hehe..

still tired.. no AF.. bright Urine.. and pulls in bellie every now and then.. also over the weekend every once in a blue moon i would get what felt like pins and needles on the inside of my breasts pointing outwards.. i have never had that b4 and i dont have sore breasts.. the body really is an amazing things isnt it! i did a test yesterday morning.. and still neg.

i would b 5wks now.. if i were but im one week over due today.. i dont think it is needed to go to the dr yet.. but if i dont get my AF in the next 2 weeks i will defo go.. (dont really want to be told im over reacting)

Amsta do you think it's possible you haven't ovulated yet this cycle? Perhaps you should keep BDing until you get AF or your BFP? That way you know you have given it a real chance!

hey there kirsten.. im thinking that i did but then i thought i had ovulated 3 days b4 my AF was due.. so we BD.. im confused as to if i have or not.. (it was uncooked egg white looking CM)...

You could be ovulating this late if you're cycle is still working itself out after coming off the pill? That happened to me, I ovulated on about CD 30 or so when I was waiting for AF. That's why I suggest keep at it until you get AF or your BFP!

hey there kirstin thanks heaps for the advise.. as i said i went off it three months ago.. and i thort ovulating was when ur cm is like clear egg white..

to be honest i have only tried this month and i feel sexed out already!!! i love sex but hate the purpose etc..

but yeh when i did get that we had sex that day.. so maybe thats why i havent got it.. i might get a test tonight and have a go tomorrow.. and just continue Belly Dancing!

Although it is so soon don't rule out the possibility of being pg either... with DD I went off the pill, got my period once then I was pg. I also had alot of strange am I aren't I with the HPT until one day there it was a dark BFP. We were not charting or anything, I had no idea about the whole ovulationg thing when we tried for DD, we were just doing the BD and hoping for the best, and may I say we did not do it that often, just must have been the right time!

Yes when you ovulate your CM is like egg whites, but to be honest I could never tell what was going on by my CM. I got pg my second cycle after coming off the pill, that was the first month I did temping but I think it was just luck with the timing that me charting.

I agree it does take some of the fun out of it when you're like "Okay let's have sex now I think I'm ovulating!" Not very romantic. I wouldn't worry about doing it every single day, just relax and let it happen. Easy for me to say I know.

PS. Before I got my BFP I had cramps and tingles down my back every now and then which was strange for me, so your symptoms could be positive!

hey there kirstin! i went to the dr's today.. i had to go for something else and she asked how iw as going.. told her i was nearly 2 weeks late.. she did a urine test and it was neg. she said if i dont have my AF in the next 2 weeks to come back and she would re test.. if nothing then send me for a blood test.

im totally convinced that my AF is just over due... and out of wack..

Just thought I would let you know that this is happening to my sister ATM too she got told by her Doctor that it very normal for ladies to miss cycles completly after going to the pill.... I know not very helpful but there you have it....

BTW it can take awhile after getting of the pill to get UTD it took us ages 18 mth for DS 2yrs for DD1 but only 3 mth for DD2... They say to go to the doctors after a year of trying... We got UTD with both DS and DD after going to get BHL's :sperm: tested and I got checked out must have given his little fellas the kick in the butt they needed....

Well this cycle is over for me. After 43 day I got AF at 1am this morning. Very heavy and extremely painful (more so than usual) especially in my back. At least I can look forward to cycle #10 now! Good luck for you Amsta.

Amsta what is happening with you now? I am having a similar situation and only came off the pill 3 or 4 months ago as well. Only I had 2 BFNs and then got a very very faint BFP yesterday which was 6 days after AF was due...went to drs and had blood test...result showed HCG up but only just up (it was 24) so dr not prepared to say I am pregnant or not. SO confused...when we fell pregnant with our DD, I had been off the pill 1 month and fell first time we had unprotected sex, which if I AM pregnant right now, it will be the exact same situation only we waited a bit longer. Grrr...it's so frustrating huh.

Hey there rach.. thanks for your comment.. well i havent had my AF since 3 sept!!!! ive been off pill for 4 months and i have been fairly regular.. although the cycle b4 last AF i had b4 the one on the 3 sept was longer..
i got spotting on friday.. i did a test yesterday (sat) and it was BFN.. havent had spotting since.. had cramping here and there.. although nothing yet! my dr said if i dont get my AF by this week to book in and we will do a blood test.. feels like im gonna get AF but heaps of people say they get this feeling and they end up being UTD...but in the back of my mind i keep saying im not just to save the disappointed plus this is the first month we gave it ago..
as for the CM yes i got that egg white stuff about 2 weeks ago.. but we DTD the day b4.
control freak i have been watching your situation for the past few weeks and im sorry to hear you got your AF.. and that its painful! i hate that!!! feeling for you on my end althoughi just wish i cud get my AF so i can move on!!! my bellie is soo bloated and i feel like crap coz i cant proudly say im bloated for a reason to myself haha.
how long do you have to wait for a positive result rach?
as for your comment tali thank you i realise that i could be out of wack.. hence why im curious.. although my dr also had said if i dont get my AF she wants to test.. im not worried if im not but want to make sure every thing is ok with my body.. especially sincei have ovulated!

also whats the longest cylce someone has had b4 you got an AF?? i ran into a gf on the weekend who fell pregnant second cylce and she said her cycles were 7 weeks long!!! just gave birth to a beautiful baby girl. its sooo amazing what the body does!

Wow I hope you get a definite answer soon...it is so frustrating isn't it. If I still haven't got AF by the end of the week I will book in with my normal dr (not the one I went to yesterday) and get levels rechecked...i figure they should go up some more by then if I was pregnant, I just wish drs would be more specific..and if it was too early to get a firm result then why send me for the blood test...grrrr. Amsta the tiredness is an excellent sign, I was such a tired wreck when I was pregnant, I'd crash as soon as I got home from work. I also got pins and needles but down my back, plus the spotting and cramps. I hate to get your hopes up if you're not pg, but these signs sound very very good! Let us know how you go with the Dr. xx

thought my stomach is also rolling and had lots of gas.. so maybe im getting it maybe im not..
i have had pins n needles in my boobs..

another thing extremely unusual.. if i push on my tummy down near that area.. it hurts.. very tender.. never had that b4.

You can use Fertility Friend to record your temps. Basically you take your temp every morning at the same time. Before you get out of bed. You can then record your temp in fertility friend and it can help determine the day the O'd and testing dates etc. Taking your temp once wont tell you anything. I would suggest temping your next cycle if this cycle is a bust. Buy yourself a cheap BBT monitor.

Thats no problem, more than happy to help. We were trying for about 2 years (just not using protection) Because I have PCOS I new there may be a chance that I may need meds to help me, so I started Clomid (med that helps you ovulate) and got pregnant on my first cycle!!!
So miracles do happen :)

I dont think that it has sunk in yet, Im stressing that something is going to happen cause it just seems too good to be true. I know Im being silly. I think this is normal. I have a scan at 6 weeks to make sure it is not an eptopic, once that is done I think I will be able to relax and enjoy the pregnacy.

Amsta..how is it going?

I spoke with my GP/OB yesterday and he said my results sound consistant with early pregnancy but will see me on Saturday.. I assume he will examine me and send me for another blood test...the only frustrating thing with that is I won't get the blood results until Monday but oh well. I also have had tender and tingly breasts, gas (OMG!!), fatigue. I also have had sharp pains on my left side which I will often get when I am ovulating..so not sure what that is about. I have also got raised glands on my areola which I remember from my last pregnancy....I think that I am (otherwise what else would it be!). I am keeping my fingers crossed for you also.

i wrote an email back last night but the website went down! as for my symptoms.. my boobs are tingly.. and every time i get the tingle i feel myself taking a look round my shoulder to give em a push almost like i expect them to push back! .. just for the record they dont hahaha!so i can sympathise with you alana.. coz every time i get this feeling that ive never haed before.. (usually my af comes with a sharp cramp.. moodiness.. then bleeding and nothing else) thats why i keep grabbing my boobs coz i think im sooo confused and doubtful! hahahaha!
i counted this morning and it will b 9 weeks on tuesday comming since i had the first day of my period!
great news rach.. i have my you in my thoughts for saturday :) i am very positive you will get your answer you have been craving..

off to the dr's this afternoon at 5pm.. so bring on 5pm.. although im worried that the u rine test will be neg.. considering it will b taken during the afternoon. i havent done a test since last saturday.. hoping a blood test will show something to give me an answer as to why its been nearly 9 weeks since my af! ill feel like a fool if im not pregnant.. and kinda scared as to why i am not getting my af when i defo ovulated.

hey there girlies.. as you are well aware went to the dr yesterday afternoon.. dr said that i definetly ovualted this month.. and that i had symptoms of being UTD but the urine test was negative.. werid!
sooo she has sent me to the pathology to do a blood test and said taht commonly it may not show in a urine test.. so any way trying the blodo test thing and will get the results this afternoon as she is pushing them through as urgent! yay!
alternatively we will do an ultra sound if its still neg..
im kinda worked up at the moment.. im in soo much doubt at the moment that im even pregnant now that the urine test is neg.. but no AF! what the? and cramping... and sore boobies.. been really moodie.. and its funny on the trip home i started to try and thinka bout my symptoms (this can be dangerous coz u start to look into things) but DH is going up to indy this weekend and im really emotional about him going.. (ie indy girls haha) im never like that.. i am usually yay go ill see u on sunday! also we were at a bbq and someone was smoking outside and i could smell it from inside.. then DH passed wind (sorry TMI) and i cud smell it and nearly choked on my breaky hahaha and he cudnt smell it!
ahhhhh i dunno this afternoon will tell but the dr was very interested in my blood type coz she didnt had this in her records.. so she is getting that today as well. i was discussing this with DH coz i told him and he said that maybe that could have something to do with my bloody type and his clashing???
also i said to DH this was the first month we gave it ago.. surely we wudnt b.. (i guess trying not to work myself up) and he said there are plenty of people that are UTD after the first time.. so i think he is being really supportive :)
