brother or janome

ok so my janome is an old one. its around 20 years old and the foot slips constantly and well i would really love a new one

DH has agreed to let me get a new one but i am not sure what to get. i have done some research and i really like the janome DC 4030 or the brother nv900. the brother is a sewing/embroidery machine whereas the janome isnt. but for $200 more, the brother does both. i have only ever used a janome so not sure how the brother works. my question is, do i go for the brand i know, or splurge and try the brother? what are your thoughts

I have a brother emdroidery machine which I love. Its a sewing machine/embroidery machine in one and i recently had to get it fixed....costing me a wopping $500

BUT

I also have Janome.

I didnt have a sewing machine and someone let me use their brother, it did nothing but stop and clog for me and frustrated the hell out of my poor brain.
Mum on the other hand had a janome, I used that and it worked fabulously.
I dont use my brother for both, only embroidery. Problem I would have is that if my sewing machine is in the shop getting fixed then I cant embroidery in the mean time..KWIM

Personally I think yourve answered your own question...yourve had your janome for 20 years and yes the foot might be slipping....but 20 years is fantastic.

OH and I know someone who bought the same model embroidery machine and had to take it back twice adn get new ones due to faults
