Oooh im joining this thread! Last year I made DS a stocking and sack cos I couldn't for the life of me find any I liked. this year im hoping to make a few pressies for family. I've had my sewing hat on the last few weeks altering my bridesmaids dresses, a MT carrier and a plastic bag holder so in trying to keep the flow going or i might not get around to making anything!

Advent calendar ey? I might have to borrow that idea!

The background is red and the pockets are all different patterened christmas material. So not sure if the numbers will even stand out. Do I even need numbers?? Hmm.......

I am so terrible at hand sewing, LOL, so I have a serious dilemma! haha. I did see one somewhere where she had a bell on the end of a ribbon (the other end was sewn into the seam at the side of the calendar) and the bell went in each pocket that day to mark where you were up to iykwim.

Popping my head in quickly - my mum is the sewer in our family, and she is making a Santa sack for DD this Christmas. We want to put DD's name on it, but mum is not confident, so while this is not strictly a sewing question, can anyone tell me a place to get iron on letters?

I cut out my numbers in felt and glued them on, they looked kinda crappy though but will need redoing this year. Fabric paint could work too maybe?!?

I haven't tried this yet, but I have this paper that you can print on then cut out and the iron on so it forms a stencil and then use fabric paint - I have had good results doing this, not tried with numbers though. Planning to do over weekend so will let you know how it goes.

    Fabric crayon numbers

I ended up using fabric crayons rather than paint, just because they were to hand - still used the iron on paper as a stencil, just printed the numbers on it and cut them out. The glitter was added with some glue afterwards - am pleased with the result - only done number 1 to 5 so far.

I got a rough outline from the web somewhere but I ended up changing it a lot to make it make more sense for a 2.5yr old and also to link in with my activities. So I think it's mostly ended up my creation now
