She is an avid quilter and we started a quilt together to commemorate my 21st birthday. The quilt I had chosen out of the book ended up being super complicated and we never finished it. Ever since then I have constantly complained that EVERYONE but me has a quilt (she makes quilts for weddings, big birthdays, new babies etc). She went of to a quilting retreat a few weeks ago and yesterday she presented me with my very own quilt!! It is SO me!! Two and a half years after my birthday I finally have my quilt!
I am very lucky - my Mum is very clever. I should take some pics of some other quilts she has done. She enters lots of them in shows and she has won quite a few awards.
Once she made an "Eye Spy" quilt that was HUGE and she didn't know who to give it to - so she anonymously donated it to the Children's Ward at our local hospital.
CM, I've seen them hung with cloth tabs sewn onto the back of the quilt, then a heavy dowel run through the length of it (about the thickness of a broom stick) then screws in either end and chains attached to it and hung from the ceiling, but back far enough that the quilt is against the wall. It looks very effective to hang them.
that is stunning!!
my mum is a quilter to! she made DS a beautiful one for his birth with trains and animals(we didnt know he was a boy though) and she started one for DD and we are still waiting 16 months later....(but its an ongoing joke with her)
