    Making single bed doona cover

DD will be going into big bed soonish and I was going to get her Dora the Explorer Doona cover but after seeing the price thought I'd be better making my own.

I have just assumed it wouldn't be that hard, sew round the edges and put press studs in the bottom, is it this easy? And does anyone know how much material I need? Length and width size?

    Thanks!

It should be fairly easy. YOu could also use large buttons or velcro strips to open/close. I have read that you need to measure the single doona cover (or check on the pack what its dimensions are) and then add 2 inches to the width and 5 inches to the length for seams and for room for the doona. Don't quote me, but google "how to make a duvet cover" and there are quite a few sites with instructions. YOu could also ask where ever you get the fabric from what you will need. Spotlight or Textile Traders are helpful here.

Yes, it is very easy. I made a couple of sets recently with material from spotlight that was only $2 per metre!!!
I brought, um - I think 3 mtrs ( or was it 2.5?) and had just enough for a cover and matching pillow case.
Have a google and see what the standard single size quilt/doona size is. I cant quite remember, there is a little variation from store/brand - brand, but mostly there is a standard size.
Just wash fabric first, iron. Sew hem/ends and fold over at ends. Press. Then sew each side. Then put your snaps on. Done!

Yep, we bought the plastic press studs.....and they look great. I bought left over fabric from the Freckles website and mum stitched up 2 x doona covers.....pfft to paying $54.95 per doona cover, i paid $21.95 for 2 and they look exactly the same !!!!

Good luck. We had fun making ours.....
