I picked up a Janome 350e today & want to play with it. However, someone was saying something about prewound bobbins. The bobbins that came with the machine are empty. Am I supposed to use a special thread or do I wind them with the same thread (ie same clour & type) as I am embroidering with?
you should get bobbim thread if you can as it is thinner and will give a less bulky finish to your embroidery....having said that you can use normal thread if you have no bobbin thread..it just won't be quite as schmicko......bobbin thread usually comes in white and black. for normal sewing you can just use normal matching thread on the bobbin...hope that makes sense!
Thanks Mel, I'll just use normal white cotton for now. I just want to have a fiddle with it & I'll get some bobbin thread tomorrow. It's an embroidery only machine because I have an overlocker & decent sewing machine so there was no point getting an embroidery machine that does normal sewing too.
