I just made a night dress for DD1, next on the list is a pair of flannelette pjs for winter... if I can get my machine out from under the pile of *stuff* sitting on in.

I just tried to start a gorgeous cardigan (knitted) for DD2 but realised I haven't got the right needles for the project so that is back on the drawing board for the moment.

I guess it will have to be more of the crocheted food I'm making for DD's birthday present and maybe another few crocheted easter eggs...

I'm trying to knit a baby hat for a friends new princess, but have to master double ended needles because it's too small for circular ones. So much harder, and taking longer, but I'm determined.

ETA: just saw this was in the "Quilting, Needlework & Sewing" sub forum ... whoops!

I made a patchwork quilt one time, but it didn't really work out ... my sewing ability is limited to (bad) hemming.

I just made a gorgeous little pinafore (sp??) dress from a cute little floral cord material and i'm in the middle of making a denim skirt with a contrast band around the bottom. They won't fit DD for a few months yet though.

I've had a house full of sick people and it's been my escape...

EJ, I hear you on the need for escape. Nice one, getting two pieces done, they sound very cute.

As for me:

Finished the pyjamas! Polka dot flannelette made up in a kimono style.
They didn't turn out exactly as I had expected as I was using a pattern from the internet... untried before. Next time I think I will use a commercial pattern or try copying a from something I already have. Ahh, hindsight.

With the cardigan, I decided to try another pattern - one I have got needles for and I am just about done. I love knitting little things, they take shape so quickly! I only have one sleeve, the front buttonhole facing and a little more of the 'cable' on the yoke. I can't believe I just worked out how to knit cable!! Then it is sewing it all together and blocking! Just in time for the cooler weather.

Next, a cardigan (Tiny tea leaves for DD1) and a few other little ideas are on the agenda...

Now, just need to find the time.

Well i am not going to make it to the markets because i opened my FB store and I have over 22 ruffle nappy covers to make! I opened on the 10th so thats the orders from the last 2 days.

I'm knitting and crocheting beanies for some lovely ladies in my baby buddies group. Hoping to be able to set up some business eventually. Love creating beanies of different styles! Littlelara have you tried circular knitting with 2 circular needles instead of the dpn? I love that way much more than fiddling with dpns.

Jackrose the pj's sound interesting. Even though they didn't turn out like you thought are they still workable as pj's?? I want to try and make some pj's too, they will be my next project i think. Do you have any good places to get patterns apart from the commercial ones?

Caixin the knitting sounds great. I remember being taught by my nan when i was a little girl but i have no idea how to do it now. I crocheted (sp?) a couple of blankets once but again i couldn't remember how to do it now. My DD has a white cardigan knitted by an aunt and i love it, she wears it all the time.

You mean 2 sets of circulars or one? I have found anything less than 50 stitches just won't work on a set of circular.
I managed, and they came out very cute.
Something about cold weather just makes me want to knit. Which is unfortunate, considering the same weather makes my arthritis flare, so I can only do a bit at a time.
Oh, I'm halfway through a scarf for loverboy, too.

littlelara - glad your beanie worked out. I finished one a little while ago with dbl points and it was a killer to start. Once I got the hang of it I knocked out a few more! They are so cute and so rewarding to make when they are so quick. Plus I love thinking of the little babies who will wear them as I knit.

MrsBexie - The pyjamas were very simple to make. Flannelette is so easy to work with and the beauty of PJs is (as EJ pointed out) at least they don't have to be perfect if you are only wearing them to bed. Pants would be so simple to make, tracing a pair you already have would be a breeze!

EJ - The PJs are absolutely workable. The neck was just way to big so it will need a button or something to keep it together and I made a silly mistake when I altered a pattern for a pair of pants that left the waist waaaay to small. So an insert of fabric on either side solved that and DD wont be any the wiser! Now, if only she would agree to try them on for me
Honestly, I gave up making clothes for my DD to wear a long time ago (and she is only 3!) Now I make things because I love to and if she wears them - bonus!

Regarding the Kimono style Pattern. I certainly won't use a pattern not tried and tested again. I did see a pattern for a child's kimono style top in Amy Butler's Little Stitches for Little Ones (borrowed from the library and traced patterns from it - but unfortunately not the kimono ) The Oliver and S pattern looks cute too - it is not a 'commercial' pattern so much, I feel like I am supporting a designer personally when I buy the Oliver and S patterns rather than a big company like McCalls. Still, I couldn't justify buying a pattern for a Kimono. I just figured it couldn't be too hard to work out and sort of made it up and worked with a free pattern from the web. I think I have learnt my lesson though! I was so frustrated as I made a Kimono style dressing gown for a friend a few months ago by copying my one and it worked a treat. Next time I am going to have more faith in my pattern drafting skills[hacks]!

Pandora - hope you are enjoying the quilt! Be careful, it becomes addictive! Before you know it you are 'stashing' fabric madly for more and more quilts you *will* be making in the future!
